My opinion was formed using the Reissue 6550 and the SED 6550C in an 11a, a stock Premier 140 and the same amp with the C1 Teflon upgrade.

I thought New Sensor did a very good job copying the original Tung-Sol three hole 6550. The bass was tight and punchy, the mids clear and gave a realism to the sound, and the treble was nicely extended, airy and not sibilant or spitty. Soundstage had good lateral spread and depth with my only complaint being the images within were more cutouts than solid.

I found the 6550C to be clear, the bass solid but not as forceful as the 6550, mids were a little lean and the treble nicely extended and also never irritating. Soundstage width was comparable but not as much depth as the 6550.

My overall preference was for the reissue 6550 but in the 140 with the Teflon caps it was a closer call.

I agree with Joe. I also prefer the reissue Tung Sol 6550 to the SED 6550C in the following CJ amplifiers, Classic 60SE, Premier 12, Premier 12C1, and LP140M.
