HumminGuru GH-1 LPs cleaner...a jewel to use.

Post by roberto »

Hola Chicos,
I am ready for my review and tell you guys that his machine had brought life to my beloved LPs. It really works very well. I can say that the 95% of surface noise is gone. Sometimes once and then a have a click. This is an easy to use machine. I do highly recommended to you. I have cleaned about 100 LPs, and the HumminGuru is acting as it did new. I must thank to the HumminGuru team for a low price high efficient record cleaner for LPs. The model that I have is for only LPs and must measure 12".

Where did you find the unit? On the HumminGuru site they only have the "Nova" model.... or maybe I am missing something.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see the HG-1. Is there a major difference between the HG-1 and the Nova (other than the price)?

I have a dear friend who ordered for me...he has one and when I did see it doing the thing, I said to myself this machine is working nice...and it is a bargain. So I do highly recommend it. It truly wash and review the LPs surface again. Only once and then go have a click. And I have a lot of really dirty LPs. Why? The zone where I live is at the West of San Jose, up in a hill, and it is very dusty. There is no way how to keep the dust away. Specially when the December, January and February the wind is very strong here. A reason why I want to build another house away from here...

Yes, nice one Robbo mate. It is a very good unit, VFM in ultrasound cleaning of LP's.
We have our own distributor here in Melb, and the price is very reasonable compared to KL Audio, which can cost over 6grand in Aus. So no thanks.

The HG is quite good and I do believe your findings where it gave your LP's new life! Also full of detail and more vibrancy. Ultrasound cleaning is the ultimate but those audiophile models coat a fortune. Finally the HG models offer everything you could expect from an Ultrasound cleaning device. Very highly recommended! WOOF!

Cheers, RJ

Big Dog,

I thought I lost some of my favorite LPs due to have a lot of surface noise. One is the Brazilian Quartet: Quartet em Cy Antolgia do Samba. The vocal work here is amazing. Some people might not like it because they have arranges using half tones at the same time...and this is not used many times because seems out of tune. The Brazilian harmony is very complex and not easy to arrange too. This quartet is made by girls voices only. It is a Philips recording and very difficult to get. I found the recording very nice and transparent. Also some is in YouTube>

For those who like vocal quartets, here is a nice sample of good work, because you can hear the four voices with different musical notes but in perfect harmony,

Happy listening!

The video link doesn't work, "video unavailable." Perhaps it's region locked?

So many interesting varieties of music from around the world. One of the reasons I enjoy traveling is to explore different cultures and listen to their native folk music. I must admit that I don't always enjoy the actual musical style, but regardless, I always find it interesting.

These LP cleaners are amazing in the sense that they can revive some of LP's that you would normally think are hopelessly lost. I've bought some very dirty records in the past from bargain bin sellers and some cleaning has really resurrected the sound quality.

Nope. Still the same error that says it's unavailable.

Looks like it is region blocked: https://views4you.com/tools/youtube-res ... 3IzFq16F5U

These works are really very rare and difficult to sing also. You must have perfect pitch for this kind of music.

That link worked. Yes, very cool stuff. Almost hypnotic how the vocals overlap.

I was pleased to see that Roberto has rekindled his interest in vinyl. A record cleaning machine is really a “must have” item, and the one shared here looks like a very nice value.

I recently traded my Kirmus and my VPI MW-1 to acquire a Clearaudio Dual Matrix Pro Sonic. It can be used either automatically (clean, super clean or eco modes) or manually. But most pleasing is that it also includes an anti-static post cleaning cycle. It is a bit pricey, but the build quality and performance are commensurate with the best German design and manufacturing traditions. If you’re serious about your vinyl, it is an end game unit.
It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.

Yes AJ.
That you have belongs to another super level world. This HumminGury costs around $550.00 tax and shipping in the USA. My VPI 16.5 is really shamed. This unit uses a 40KHz vibration frequency that works for clean the dirty groves very well. The HumminGuru recommends to use only destil water, but I added some isopropyl alcohol and a neutral soap (surgery cleaning grade for medicine Drs). Because Costa Rica rains 9 months of the year, there is a lot of humidity climate weather (I don't know if this is the way to say San Jose is very humid).

Anyhow, the cleaning process results is fantastic. When there is some fungus into the groves, I scrub a little bit with VPI brush and the solution, and then put the LP into the machine. The first step of cleaning is wet. There is into the machine a special chamber where you put the destil water and you program the time you want for cleaning the LP. Then with a built in water pump, the water is drained to a special reservoir. Then the drying process starts. All this process is automatic. You are allow to use the water again, until you decided that it is time to change it.
I have cleaned about 200 LPs or so, with excellent results. I highly recommended.

This is an inexpensive machine that really does a great job.

Happy listening.

Yes. I agree, as noted above. Very effective and excellent bang for the cost.

I have been a believer in record cleaning machines since I was a VPI dealer 40 years ago.

Neil Antin’s treatise on super cleaning of vinyl with no machine at all is good info too. I’ve linked to his free download in other threads here before, but here it is again.

https://thevinylpress.com/app/uploads/2 ... 024-03.pdf

As I shared above, I am pleased to hear that you are enjoying your vinyl again. Clean records are noticeably better than dirty records.
