LP140M
Re: LP140M
Unfortunately we don't have the LP140M's schematics in our database. If you are having a problem with your unit I would recommend making a post in the Troubleshooting section of the forum as I'm sure some people could offer advice on figuring out what is wrong.

Responded to your post in the Troubleshooting section.
Re: LP140M
I thought the LP140M already had the better parts?!! What is the difference between an LP140M and Premiere 12 then?AnotherJohnson wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 5:18 pm I think they could be improved with the full Teflon cap upgrade. RJ probably can give you extensive advice on the LP140Ms.

I guess the thread is too long to actually read.jimbones wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:53 amI thought the LP140M already had the better parts?!! Read RJ’s post after this one too.
If you are concerned, call CJ and talk to ABJ (anyone but Jasmine).

It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.
Re: LP140M
Got it. Yea so when I was told that it included premium parts, it wasn't what you would call the ultra premium teflon and uber expensive resistors. So I will assume that it has a slightly better parts selection than my P12. ThanksAnotherJohnson wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:19 amI guess the thread is too long to actually read.jimbones wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 9:53 amI thought the LP140M already had the better parts?!! Re: LP140M
The Premier series was CJ's finest back then...that was replaced by the LP series, which was again replaced by the ART series, which we have now. On top of that, the original ART series has now been replaced by the latest edition of Art series gear, comprising of Class A output stages.
In all these designs, parts, power supplies, signal paths and tubes were changed and various aspects of the amplifiers were redone to arrive at a purer uncoloured sound. One that's far more involving and closer to the real thing.
Whichever model of power amplifier you choose to upgrade, all depends on which parts are available for that particular upgrade, plus it's upto the discretion of the brand owner to choose which parts are to be utilised or not.
So for example, when I order the upgrade for my LP series amplifiers, JF specifically mentioned that this comprises of the Full SE upgrade (Teflons, Vishays and KT120's). Also a minor adjustment on the Class A bias. The project took over two years because I did it in stages, not all at once. I first got the KT120's done then only after a year, the Teflons and Vishays were installed. Only after another year, I got the Class A bias adjusted and finalised. I purposely took this long because I wanted to really experience the benefits of installing Teflons and Vishays, to see what they're capable of... and oh boy was it worth every pretty penny. Only after that experience did I finalise on the Class A bias.
Once this waa all done, I had a long queue of audiophiles and hifi enthusiasts lining up at my house, wanting to listen. There was another chap who had the LP125M's as well, and wanted to engage on the same upgrade path as I did. However, after a few notes on emails exchanged between JF and my friend, JF very clearly said that he cannot offer these very high grade parts on older gear... simply because he's reserved them for the ART series. That makes sense but my mate was rather disappointed. Which means, Teflons were possible but probably not Vishays, would be some other metal foil/ film resistors. KT120's yes but no Vishays. There are also different types of Vishays, so as to exactly which ones JF is using in the LP series vs the ART series, I don't know.
Towards the end of that episode, my good mate ended up with the LP275M's, driving his Maggie's MG20.7's, absolutely loves it!
The LP140M and LP275M including the LP70S, all have very high quality parts and top grade goodies in their power supplies, therefore there's no further improvements required. Unless you were considering the latest ART series.
So, that's a good question! As to what's the difference between the LP140M and Prem12's... it's the design in signal path, power supplies and tube config used, are quite different. The LP140M have higher current capacity, higher voltage devices and more powerful tubes. They also incorporate Teflons and Vishays along critical stages of the main circuit. They're much quieter and embody a far more powerful presentation with finesse. You can identify this from the first note onwards.
The LP275M's aren't any different or any better... rather they can deploy double the output power of the LP140M. The LP275M's are more suited towards very high performance speakers in very large rooms, that's all.
Cheers, RJ
