Hello. I'm new here. Someone had given me a dead PF-2.
There is no led on, and no sound coming through
I thought, bad electrolytic caps, but on opening it up they are all film! Very nice.
The fuse is fine, and there is 36v at the diodes near the transformer.
Can't find a schematic online.
Any parts that typically fail that I should look at first before I try testing every component?
Thanks, Samir.
PF-2 - no power
Re: PF-2 - no power
Hi Samir,
First, welcome to CJO. Great to have you with us.
I used to an owner of a PF-2. A really fine unit for what it is and the price point. Unfortunately, we don't have the schematic in our database. If there are no obvious damaged parts (no burn marks, bulging caps, etc...) then you may have to try and trace the circuit and see at which component the power/signal stops. Perhaps you can identify a bad component. Start from the power supply and work your way out. Just be careful as this would be working on a live unit. If you don't feel comfortable doing this safely then probably best to find a professional tech.

Re: PF-2 - no power
Hi. Yes. Going to measure ESR of all the caps first. There is 1! single post on the internet of someone finding a bad cap. I'll measure voltages next.
Lots of transistors in here too.
