Recent Website Reliability Problems
Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
Bravo Mr. Admin, and thank you for all you do for us.
Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
I haven't heard back from my hosting provider about the support ticket but I have not seen any further "Internal Server Errors" pop up in the last 24 hours. I'm hoping that the issue is resolved..... fingers crossed.
EDIT 3/16/24:
I received an official email from the hosting site saying it's "fixed". No explanation of what exactly was causing the problem but the site does appear to be working. I would even say pages are loading faster than they were typically in the past.
I'm going to remove the board announcement about the error but if it reoccurs please let me know.
Thank you for everybody's patience with getting this issue resolved.

Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
So it looks like our site is being attacked by Bots again. The SQL error popped up in the last two days. I've taken some steps to try and remedy the situation. The hosting providers have not been much help... but hopefully we can get it under control.
I apologize for any downtime or inconvenience.

Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
Is this just Iranian, Russian, Chinese, North Korean harassment for fun? Or is there some logical reason for why an innocuous CJ focused site would be in bot crosshairs.

Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
Many other forum sites have been hit with this in the past 2 days. The only explanation I got so far is that it may be Chinese bots scraping forums for their AI learning models.
I was able to block it so hopefully we should be good going forward.... until the next one.

Re: Recent Website Reliability Problems
Looks like the AI bots are back. They have been hitting forum sites rather aggressively in the last few weeks. I have added extensive IP blocks and noticed that the guest user count has dropped by 95% so they seem to be working. Of course it's always a "cat and mouse game" but we should be doing ok for now. I will keep an eye on things and hopefully there will be no down time.
I apologize for any inconvenience.

The discussion veered into politics and I moved those posts into a separate topic that can be continued to be discussed here: https://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/vie ... php?t=3114
I think it's best to keep the discussion here on site reliability.
