Gryphon PowerZone

Post by paulCJ »

I have been lucky enough to borrow a Gryphon PowerZone from a friend, and the difference that thing makes is......nice.
Vocals sound cleaner and more vibrant, there's more space around individual instruments. There's more air. This stupid box has taken my system to another level, and everything became bland and less exciting when I temporarily took the borrowed PZ out of the system.

Very cool. I would love to try one but the price tag of $14k for the 20 amp version is pretty hefty. In general, Gryphon makes some incredible gear.

Yes, it is a hefty price. Will not be happy when I have to give the PZ back to a friend.
This thing is a truly wonderful power optimizer, as Rune from Gryphon prefers to call it, and it really enhances the CJ GAT-S2 preamp.

Well, with the threat of tariffs increasing the cost of items made elsewhere, my decision to purchase a Gryphon PowerZone 3.10 was accelerated in March. I had also upgraded to a used Levinson 534 amp (from a used Levinson 5302 amp) to go together with my used GAT-S2, and oh my, what this power product does for the GAT-S2 is not subtle. The PowerZone makes it seem as if the GAT-S2 has the best, cleanest, most magical tubes that have ever existed on the planet. The already wonderful GAT-S2 sounds just so much better when fed electricity from the PowerZone.

I understand that raving about a power product is something that can easily draw skeptics, or can sound fanatical, but is something that everyone NEEDS to hear in their system.

That's awesome. I've read some comments about the Gryphon Powerzone that it actually benefits from some burn in so the sound may get even better with a more listening. Again, congrats and enjoy the tunes.

That would be nice if the sound gets even better over time, as it is quite impressive now.
According to friends, better cables make a big difference. Stealth 20-20 and Audience Front Row are the 2 cables that friends rave about with their PowerZones. I am using an AQ Dragon power cable, purchased used (at a great price), from a friend that upgraded to Stealth power cables in his system. I am not at that level.
