Premier Two in need of a lot of love...

Post by simcrook »

I have the following Premier Two in need of a lot of work. The power supply has been removed, and a lot of the internal connections have been removed. I don't know the full extent of the mods that have been made to this, but I would love to find someone who would be capable of bringing this back into working state. I have attached the photos of this sad Frankenstein...

Thanks for any and all assistance!

You can find the schematics to the Premier 2 here: https://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/viewtopic.php?t=128

The Premier 2 is a pretty old unit and the ones I have seen have typically have had components replaced. Unless you have a repair/modification history, it's going to be pretty tough to tell. You can trace the leads back based on the schematics and see if you can I identify any changes that may have been made.

You can also ask CJ directly to see if they can service it but not sure due to age and it just may not be cost effective.

Hello simcrook,
I am confused by your post. Are you 1)searching for someone to fix it, 2)want to fix it yourself, or 3)sell it?

My $0.02. Unfortunately, the mods look extensive and are undocumented. It's a good DIY project for someone that wants to hotrod a Premier 2. It is not a good unit to pay to have it restored to original factory condition. Service work will cost than what the unit is worth. Look for a working Premier 2 or 3 in good condition and sell your unit.
My first CJ preamp was a Premier 3. Great preamplifier. I've been using an ET5 for a long time.
Good luck,
