Lumin U2 Mini vs Bricasti M5 streamer

Post by Rubicon15 »

Has anyone compared these two streamers using their CJ system? I currently own the Lumin but wondering if Bricasti makes a better streamer. I’m not interested in a streamer with an integrated DAC. Both units cost about the same - $2500 US. Is there a better streamer new or used in the same price range that is better than the Lumin U2 mini? The Bricasti has a linear power supply. The Lumin does not but is more future ready and works with the Lumin app for playback.

Rubicon, suggest you look hard at the Eversolo DMPA8. Does everything, SOTA reviews at both Stereophile and Audio Science Review, and only $1,980.

Eversolo has some very cool products. The prices are amazing. The only downsides are that it's a Chinese company,... which explains the competitive prices. Also, the controller app software doesn't have very good reviews either. Just some things to be aware of.

Admin, I think yours is bad advice. First, every Apple product, your tv, etc is probably made in China - no longer cheap junk.

And, the Eversolo Control app has received many very positive reviews, please actually do the research.

Again, read the Stereophile and ASR reviews for these state-of-the-art units at a super price.

Mine, used in my $80K system, sounds, looks and operates very well.

I think I spoke of them fairly well in my above comment. I will admit that if I have a choice, I would rather have my equipment made in the US or Europe. But I do have items that are made in China in my systems. For example, a Bluesound Node, a Wiim streamer, and even my higher end Holo Audio May DAC are all made in China.

As for the controller app. I think you are right. The reviews are about the same as BluOS, HEOS, and Wiim.

Again, I'm not suggesting people shouldn't buy these products. If anything, I have bought similar products myself. But I think it's also important to know where and who makes our products. For some that may be important,... others not so much. At the end of the day, the more products and choices we have as consumers the better it is (IMHO).
