CAV 50 Troubleshooting

Post by Eugenius »

Hi all!
First timer here. I inherited a CAV50 with a blown fuse from a family friend. After replacing the fuse and the two tubes on the left channel, it started to work brilliantly for a time. However the other day it just stop producing sound and the red led power light on the face plate went out. The power tubes stills warm up but I get a little crackle from the left channel as they warm up, and the two bias lights come on too but no sound at all from my record player. Any ideas on where to even begin troubleshooting this?
Thanks!

Are you sure the other tubes were ok and not damaged?

I would also do a good visual inspection of the internals looking for any signs of obvious damage, burn marks, bulging caps, etc. I would also just check all the fuses.
