YAI (Yet Another Introduction)

Post by rob.hughes »

Hello there, I guess you could say I'm an old hand. I started my quest for better sound almost from the first minute I got something other than a cheap transistor AM radio. Since then I've been through a lot of different stuff from SAE, Parasound, and a BOSE power amp, many different speakers and most recently an ET3 SE and Evolution 2000 with heavily modified Polk 2.3 TL speakers in which I rebuilt the xovers myself using ClarityCap ESAs and Cardas chassis wiring. The front end is an Empire turntable I modified to take a Rega 300 arm, Marantz 14S1 SACD/DAC, and a custom built phono pre. I even have an actual Gramaphone for shellac 78s. I listen to all kinds of stuff and I don't think there's a single genre that I don't like at least a little of, though rock, jazz, and Baroque are probably my 3 favorites.

Welcome to CJO, great to have you with us!

As I mentioned in your other thread, I was an Evolution 2000 owner for many years. Sorry to hear about the problems with that unit. I used have a Rega P3 with the very same Rega 300 tonearm. That was a great little turntable and gave me a lot of bang for my buck.
