Having easily accessible information about prior products is crucial for this hobby as people tend to use gear for decades.

Looks like right now their listed audio products are very limited so they certainly have some work to fill in the gaps. For example, the first thing I tried to look up their MLD7020 LaserDisc player. Doesn't seem to be listed.

This is one area that the CJ website also does right: https://conradjohnson.com/vintage-conra ... -products/

Even McIntosh is trying to forget about that one.

It’s very “rear,” at least according to this eBay offering.

I’ve sent them an inquiry regarding its status. Maybe they need a “milk carton” section for missing products.

The McIntosh laserdisc player was actually a Pioneer CLD-97 player with an AC-3 audio out mod and a fancy glass faceplate. It wasn't actually a player that was designed in house. It's definitely an interesting part of laserdisc history.

I’ll share their response if one comes. I suspected rebadging as you’ve noted. But they included a lot of other disk players. It is a pretty complete site, and they were proud of the launch today. I’m on their list with two new McIntosh products in my system.

In all fairness to McIntosh, there is me and like three other guys in the world that even care about that particular laserdisc player!

Tom’s got at least two, and maybe three of the MLD7020. One is MINT and one is NEAR MINT. $2500 and $2200 respectively.

Tom is a careful grader. If I wanted one, I’d get in touch and ask about buying the one he’s called mint.

I own two CLD-97's with the AC-3 mod so pretty much would be buying a 5th backup player with a fancy face plate. I just think it's a cool unit.

My normal response time for a question submitted to McIntosh is a few hours.

So far no response regarding the missing MLD7020. It may be an enigma.

It's an interesting piece of laserdisc history. But I'm sure they sold a very small number of players..

This is the first time McIntosh has just completely blown off an inquiry, so I think the MLD7020 is a unit that they’ve disowned.
