I happen to agree with my wife. But If I did not also prefer the MAC C22 to the LS172, I would have kept the cj preamp. I'm well-aware that the cj pre inverts phase, and those teflon caps in the LS172 were original in this one-owner unit, not a recent upgrade.

Short wrap up: While the LS172 had a fair amount charm, overall we felt that the synergy between the McIntosh C22 MK V and the cj Classic 62SE preferable. Hence I returned the LS17S2. Some things just work better than others.
