Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
AJ, Those toys of yours belongs to another galaxy. I must say, they look beautiful. and my feeling that you do have a gorgeous quality sound. We have a saying - “The difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.” In the case of this audiophile stuff, it does seem to be in another gal ...

Re: ET3SE And Headphones.
Proud owner of a New-To-Me CJ ET3 SE. Loving it. I'm wondering how, or even if I can add headphones or a headphone amplifier. Rumor has it that the tape-loop may be an option but a lot of rumors floating around these days. I'm going directly to the faithful. Also, the factory shipping box has a ...

I was wrong. I think this predates the McCormick collaboration.

Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
So many choices. Do you find that certain TT/phono cartridge combinations are better for certain types of music or is it just generally "all equally good but different?" The style of music does matter … a lesser cartridge can sound good on simple programs. My experience is that a great cartridge w ...

Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
I’ve put the Charisma V2 back on the TT2. It really is quite nice. I wanted more practice with set up. It’s actually not difficult. You have to pay attention to two things. You’re trying to drop the stylus into the supplied linear gauge, and at the time you want to get the gauge to be parallel to the ...

Re: Conrad Johnson MF-2250 horribly distorted
CJ will not cooperate with schematics or parts. There are no authorized service centers. The old guys who retired having worked at CJ are dying off. It is unlikely to be a simple bias adjustment. You can call CJ. Solid State … might be more useful to chase down a McCormick technician. The 2250 was o ...

Re: MV 75a1 and KT120 tubes.
These amps were not intended to run with KT120s.
In addition to many reports of lower SQ, the KT120s will not be running at correct voltages without other changes.

Re: Premier 12 MB’s output setting
Thanks. Have schematic. Fuses inside all original. The Busmann fuses were from china but look the same, so I have a suspicion. In that it should have blown. Will open one up to have a looksee Fuses due today. And will use the Variac to power it up gradually They often “look the same.” Do they have g ...

Re: Premier 12 MB’s output setting
Check to be sure the big fuse is the right size. If you get red plating and they don’t blow, it can be that a prior owner put in what was available rather than what was correct. If there was no smoke, and the resistors don’t look burned, you may have gotten it turned off quickly enough to avoid dam ...

Re: Bias LED. When is it too much? CJ MV125
Hello, I'm currently using a Conrad Johnson MV125 to drive my Sonus Faber Extrema. The ensemble really sings and I enjoy it a lot. Im just a little bit worried that I'm asking too much to the amplifier because the Extremas are definitely power hungry and the bias led in louder passages are ...

Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
Sounds like an amazing setup. Now of course you a left with a big decision. Keep the LP12, Clearaudio, or both? No decision. I’ve always planned on keeping both if the good cartridge performed well on one of the arms. If it were mediocre with a known credible MC cartridge, I’d have minimal inc ...

Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
This combination (Clearaudio Master Reference with magnetic bearing upgrade, TT2 arm, and Jubilee MC V2) is the first set up I’ve auditioned that has a silence as black as the Linn LP12, Radikal, Keel, Karousel, Ekos SE, Lyra Etna Lambda. It is eery just how deep the silence is. The Charisma V2.1 w ...

Re: LP12 and Clearaudio Master Reference
The Jubilee MC is definitely a league above the Charisma V2.1. But at three times the MSRP, this should come as no surprise. I’m still breaking it in. But it’s definitely strong competition for the Linn/Lyra. Very sophisticated, polished presentation. Like the Charisma, there is depth and detail, gr ...
