Understanding the signal pass in preamp.

Post by Toberius »

Hello everyone.
I have the idea to upgrade my preamp pv10A in the signal pass resistors and the following question arises: should I consider the ground resistors or only the hot part?

Greetings.

The electrons come up through ground.

It seems that it would be relatively small additional cost and labor to do both.

Since you enjoy doing the mods, why not do the hot side, listen, and later complete the circuit.

It would be fascinating to learn of your findings.

True, ground and hot close the circuit.
But if I focus on the signal path I save money on anode and cathode resistors, right?

I forgot to mention that I am looking forward to change the original resistors for z-foil resistors, maybe Vishay or Chardcroft.
Unfortunately this kind of tests cost money.

Recently I upgraded the output stock Solen capacitors with Mundorf Evo Oil and after breaking in, I'm very exited with the result.

Ideally I would get an ET3SE but it is difficult here in my country.

I'm just replace 1:1 components of better quality than stock.
A friend of mine told me to be careful because I could change the taste that the manufacturer offers.

If anyone is interested, I will keep you in touch.

After all, the good thing about this hobby, is to do these tests in the continuous search for the holy grail.

Regards.

Yes, I assumed you were going to use the high quality stuff.

I’m looking forward to hearing about your results.
