hi!
I got a slow pulsating noise from my preamp, about once every second.
Tried to swap tubes without any effect.
I will take it to service next week,
anyone got an idea of what it could be?
thanks!

Re: pulsaing noise from cj 16
Don’t want to second guess actual service tech. If you have to tell him what to look for, you don’t want to leave it on his bench.
With that said, I had this same phenomenon with one of my Krell preamps. I sent it to Krell and they recapped it.
If it were mine, and I wanted to keep it, I’d send it directly to CJ. You will get the best repair directly from them, albeit at a price. Personally, the price is worth it in my evaluation algorithm.

It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.

First, welcome to CJO. Great to have you with us.
So I listened to the audio attached. Are you saying that is actually coming from the Premier 16 unit? In other words, not the speaker. If it's from the speaker, what have you done to rule out other components causing the aberrant sound?
It is rather unusual no doubt. Maybe a cap going bad?

hi again!
I will introduce myself now. Should have done it the other way around!
anyway,
thanks for the quick replies.
If you care to know:
it was a wifi router!
I had disconnected the ethernet cable. I reattached it and the noise went away...

Great!
Also strange since the CJ preamp is not capable of a WiFi connection, except obliquely via a single ended streamer connection.
Interference?

Good to hear. That as an easy (and inexpensive fix). My general rule is to always check other components and try to isolate the problem. I wonder if this may be a grounding issue?
