I have a pair of Magnepan LRS speakers which are much better than I thought they would be.
I'm thinking maybe I should hook them up to something decent and have been poking around looking at amplifiers.
Wendell Diller of Magnepan spent a day or two at a show and had some .7s hooked up to an MF-2275 so I wrote him to ask him if I thought they'd have enough power for the LRS - I don't expect concert level, mostly near field or small bedroom type set up.
His answer was to go to the Magnepan FAQ page.
Thank you so much for your help.
I was also looking at the LP 125SA.
Different things, I know.
My question is will either of these amps be too wimpy for a small set of Magnepans?
I use monster VTLs for the other set ups so what to do?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Informed opinions required
I’ve owned and loved the MF2275.
Note that’s power rating is into 8 ohms, but it will put out more into lower loads. In a small bedroom sized set up (250 ft2 room), I think it would acquit itself very well.

It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.

Thanks.
See, that wasn't so hard!

I snagged that NOS one, it should be here next week.
Hopefully, it won't let out the magic smoke after sitting all this time.
There are 3 preamps here to play with to see which one will work best with this amp and the little LRS speakers.
I'm thinking MF2775/deHavilland UltraVerve 3 for the LRS, 17LS and either a c-j or VTL tube amp for the spare pair of 1.7s.
I think will work out well.

Ralph Spear in SC?
If yes, it should be perfect.
Give it 100 hours before you judge it.

That would be the one.
The no brainer amp.
Next week should be a pretty good week, I think.

Ralph was the best national CJ dealer for years before he retired and closed Spearit Sound in Northampton, MA.
He worked closely with the factory. He had great customer service. He would even let you try before buying.
The MF2275 is grossly under appreciated in my view.

Good to know, thanks.
I asked him about the Magic Smoke escaping and he said 30 day return window which I found surprising.
I trust the judgement of yourself and the other people on this forum, all of you have the experience and the ears.
Odds are I'll be getting something else from him down the road but the piggy bank needs replenishing first.

Good call on that amp!
I think I'm going to use the deHavilland UltraVerve3 preamp with this combo.
Here's a temporary lash up which makes it look like the house is disappearing into a sink hole.

Ha, very nice. A maggie in front of a maggie!
Are you also using an APC H15 power conditioner as well?

Sharp eyes!
Yes, I have 3 of the things but just plug the amps right into the wall.
