Hello from Greece!

Post by Atapia »

Hell CJO my name is Yorgos and I am 30 years old.

I just bought my first CJ device, the premier fourteen a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that this preamp blowed my head away!!!

I am reading so many things about this great preamp and it’s
mod upgrades like changing tubes and transistors..

Are there any owners that made any changes on their 14?
Does this really worth the effort to change tubes and transistors?

What’s your opinion?

My setup consists of:
Preamp: Conrad Johnson Premier Fourteen
Amp: Cav-A10
Speakers: Bowers & Wilkins Series 2 802
Turntables: Thorens TD 165 & Nottingham Analogue Interspace
CD: Marantz CD 6006
Cassette: Teac V5000
Tape: National RQ-705(owned by my Grandpa and was given to me
it to me after he passed away)

Nice to find this forum as I love CJ devices!!! :)

Hi Yorgos,

Welcome to CJO, it's great to have you with us. Congrats on the Premier 14, that is a great preamp. If you are interested in doing any work on it, upgrades or otherwise, you should look at our schematics database as we have the Premier 14's schematics there as well as some kind of upgrade article if memory serves.

Sounds like you have some nice equipment in your setup. The Premier 14 should compliment it well. If you have some time, maybe you can take some pictures. That National RQ-705 should be pretty vintage.
