What are your favorite tubes for this amp?
I still have all stock tubes, but I just ordered a Siemens 6922 to try out.
I'm very interested in trying Sophia Electric el34 tubes.

Re: Favorite tubes for CAV45 S2
The best to me were the Mullard EL34's, which came fitted from CJ HQ. This was on version 1 then when I had the S2 version, that came fitted with Genalex Gold Lion 6922 / E88CC gold pin.
Version one had the EH 6922, which was quite good but I found that the GGL's had an extra edge on overall performance- extended highs, pristine midrange and excellent bass.
The EH tended to have a slightly more profound midrange. This was also the same case when I tried these two brands on my CJ monoblocks, which use the 6922 as the phase inverter/ driver tubes. Tried a few other 6922 variants but didn't want to get too carried away with tube rolling. Especially on high powered monoblocks, don't want to mess with internal voltages that weren't specified for these particular amplifiers.
Cheers, RJ
