PV8 in need of transistors

Post by Davidmb70 »

It turns out that the PV8 I just acquired needs all new transistors. Can you direct me to what brand would be good to use to replace?

First, welcome to CJO, great to have you with us! And congrats on acquiring a PV8.

Not a lot of people replace the transistors, usually it's the caps that tend to go with age. Are there any markings that identify what source the originals were from? May I ask how you came to the conclusion how "all new transistors" were needed to be replaced?

I had a loud hum when I first tried to use it. I took it to my tech and he said the transistors were bad...
