CJ's new Teflon Caps

Post by AudioDon »

I'm curious as to who's making the new Teflon caps for CJ. Does anybody have any ideas? I doubt they're buying them from V-Cap.
It would be nice to find a lower priced alternative to V-caps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Don

Hola Don,
Once I was attending at the Las Vegas CES, and in the CJ booth, there was a conversation regarding it. C-J shows their goods without the top cover, so you can sniff around. I heard, and I can not confirm this to you as a truth, that they were made in France, by special request my C-J. This is why you can see the name of C-J at the capacitors. One thing I can assure is that they are not made at the far East, and not saying that in far East can´t make them. Just looking at them you can see the quality made. Canada or the USA could make them too.

Happy listening!

Hey Roberto,
Thanks for your reply. I keep hoping a lower priced alternative to Vcaps will surface on the market, but so far such is not the case.

Yes, Teflon Caps are very expensive...but you can hear the benefit of them in your system...my system never sound as good as it is right now, and part of this quality sound are the Teflon Caps.

Roberto is spot-on. When I had the C1 upgrade done to my Premier 140 you could hear the difference: greater clarity and better extension at the frequency extremes.

Hola Chicos,

I have to add this: Conrad Johnson made a huge change for good in my system. And also having Teflon Caps along with the metal foil low noise resistors, gave to the overall sound, a non fatigue sound, incredible definition and resolution, wide steady stage, with staggering sense of 3D, and a harmonic texture to the vocals and to the musical instruments as never before. I do know that there are better preamps and better power amps than my beloved ET-7 preamplifier and my Classic One Twenty SE power amplifier, but I do highly recommend these two components. My system never has gave me so much for good as it is right now. I do know that in this Heaven, I could be in a higher cloud, all I can say is: Heaven is Heaven!

Thanks to Conrad Johnson i am enjoying every musical note coming from my speakers! Conrad Johnson sounds right!

hello

I am back in viewing the Teflon cap subject that would be made in France by CJ special request...

For your info the french capacitor specialist having a worldwide activity is SCR already used by Cj for years in their vintage product

Should you need a translation ,I can help...

Hola Raymond,

Thanks for the offer and help. It is good to know that I wasn't wrong. This happens long time ago...and Mr. Lew was talking about their quality products inside C-J. I did learn there: quality has no regret!

Again, thank you so much!

Thank you very much for the input.

To the Admin. I don't know if I should open a new thread, but teflon capacitors should have the same performance regardless of the brand ?

And if different, what would be their standard deviation?

Does anyone have a page where comparisons of teflon only capacitors are made ?

If you are looking for simple tolerance measurements, then there is no difference. Caps will be rated with specific tolerances for capacitance and voltage. There usually is an acceptable variance of +/- 5%, sometimes even down to 1%. But this doesn't tell you too much in my experience. Much like how a $50 dollar speaker from walmart may measure within 5% of a high end speaker when simply plotting a frequency sweep. Not much measurement difference. However, the acoustic quality will be very noticeable to the ear.

Caps will have their own audio signature. The values printed on the outside do nothing to convey this acoustic properties. I'm sure the measurements on a multimeter are no different for the CJ caps, Solen, or the cheapest Chinese caps you can buy from ebay. But the result from an audio perspective will vary.

As a side note, I do some minor electronics work for fun and say if I am building a home project, I will use the cheapest Chinese parts. To flip a relay it doesn't really matter. Audio components are a completely different beast.
