If you like acoustic jazz trios, these two albums are quite good. I listen to them maybe 25 or 30 times a year.
Hazeltine is a pianist. Campbell plays guitar. I’m especially partial to Bobby Bowen who played double bass on the Campbell album. He was a friend, and short lived due to a hit and run in NYC.

Campbell can play a mean guitar. Listening to the album above right now. Very relaxing,.. I like it.
I really enjoy listening to "guitar music". I don't care if it's jazz or rock. I listened to a few Mark Knopfler albums this past week and boy that guy can play the strings...

Mark was working in Nashville and Chet Atkins took a liking to him. He was invited to play on Chet’s made for Cable TV taping, “Chet Atkins, C.G.P.” We were at the “show,” and Mark commented that he was impressed by how many guys in Nashville had taken guitar play to heretofore unexpected levels. He said he couldn’t keep up.
I know many of the guys he was talking about … they are guys who want to race you to the end.
Mark said he had to just plod along. He couldn’t play so fast.
It works for me. I love to hear him play too.
I related this story to one of the hot rods once. Instead of being humble and acknowledging Mark’s quiet grace and skill, he said “He should practice more.”
Well, we all should practice more … but as for Mark, I think he should keep doing what he’s doing. It works.

Here’s the session. It was taped in front of a live audience. If you knew us 35 years ago, you could catch us … a young Vince Gill is more recognizable to most, being well known.
Another really great guitar CD is Ron Affif’s “Solotude.” This may be my all time favorite solo guitar album.
I’ve had a privately released copy titled Affif since the tapes were mastered. I just learned by accident that the commercial release was titled “Solotude.” The first cut, Mark, is a great taste of what Ron can do.

And another great guitar album is Jack Wilkins album “Windows.” The title cut is the best rendition of Chick Corea’s composition I’ve ever heard.
Freddie Hubbard’s “Red Clay,” another cut on this album, will give your bass a good work out. That cut was sampled by rappers and became famous (the motivation for rerelease 45 years later). Not a solo, but it was a small group (trio, guitar, bass, and drums). Jack is an incredibly talented jazz guitarist.
