ET7 S2 vs ET 5 - how improved? Why ET7S2 so soon?

Post by golfnutintib »

Soliciting input from users and dealers who may know on 2 questions --

1. Compare ET5 and ET7 S2 - sonic attributes a vs b, both using the current prescribed 7dj8 tube...

2. What were the issues and shortcomings leading CJ to go to S2 designation from original ET7 so quickly?

Many thanks....

Here’s the speculation after the S1 to S2 move.

CJ has been very fair about trading. I got full retail value of my s1 toward the s2.
It’s just stuff. I like mine. I hope you like yours. I probably like yours too.

thanks, that is helpful

seems like et7 s2 came about when jeff f took control of the decision making in the company

would still like to hear those who know, how the et7-2 compares sonically to the et5... both using the same stronger 7dj8 tube

from what i can clean from the limited info in the thread, the improvement is mostly in the bass slam/speed, which makes perfect sense, with more capacitance in the power supply

This particular topic has been discussed at length before in another thread...

However, just to I I remember one of my trusted importers said the series 2 version of the ET7 came out just when JF took over the ownership. So it's his work of perfection and pushing the highend envelope even further that's the reason.

Cheers, RJ
