Audiogon Forum
There's a horrible thread in the Audiogon Forum re C-J Service. Doesn't sound like C-J to me. Any comments?
Re: Audiogon Forum
I presume you are referring to this thread: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/ ... air-issues
I was surprised to hear this story. My few dealings with CJ have always been very positive. If you read through the thread, all the people who dealt with CJ in the past note good experiences. I would like to hear CJ's side of the story, it's hard to make a final judgement coming from one side of (at the time of this writing) an unresolved issue.

Re: Audiogon Forum
This certainly makes no sense with what has been stated. Seems like an awful lot of "hot air" ...
Knowing and having dealt with CJ in the past and present, this certainly does NOT happen.
On another note, my Quad speakers, known for their legendary performance and genius founder Peter Walker, the entire company was bought over by IAG and is now manufactured in China. Unfortunately the QC coming out of Chinese production is a total joke! And to top that off, the distributor in Australia and the technical service representing Quad in my state are a complete joke! Therefore, what you get from matching the two best jokes is an absolute circus!
Fortunately for me, since my Quads have been way past their warranty, along with other fellow Quad enthusiasts in Aus, we have managed to find highly qualified service techs who can put together Quads back in full working condition, sounding even better and far more reliable, compared to what is being produced in China. Using Australian parts, mylar, conductive coatings and glues and specialised "repair experience", Quads are sounding completely far ahead of their original designs. Take for example one other forum member here, Jasper, using PK Quads- are far more superior than the originals.
Similarly, if this was the case with CJ, I wouldn't even sweat it! Because at the end of the day, these are made and designed by humans and not aliens or any other life form that we cannot reach or match. There are other EE's out there who can very easily replicate CJ gear and can even better their sound. Having the basic circuit and elements in place is just the start of a wonderful design. If the original Chassis cannot be made, it can certainly be found or duplicated / replicated on another type of branded chassis that other person would be more than willing to do, and this may even cost less than what CJ may charge.
Having said that, CJ has not been bought over as yet... nor has it shifted production to China or Mars. Therefore, I am sure with the right info and proper guidance, CJ's top management and senior techs should be able to very easily sort this out. If I was CJ, I'd just send the chap a GAT or an ACT2! He would be so over the moon, CJ's sales would go through the roof!
CJ has been around for decades, and senior management are true economists, they understand the value of finance in this day and age and they have done a remarkable job, similar to ARC, to retain the brand and its production in the US of A! Therefore, rest assured ladies & gentlemen, this is not a big deal as it sounds, something or someone is just "trigger happy."
Would be good to know and learn what exactly has transpired but in this day of high tech stuff, and the accessibility levels of easily editing info, I really don't trust anyone posting such nonsense in the first place. I think this is to be used only as a guideline to be weary of future service. How we sort our own issues is up to us and our dealings with our trusted dealers. CJ dealers have been selected for their customer service, and there is definitely something terribly wrong with this whole scenario.
I think I need a scotch now and some relaxing music, might as well turn that CAV45 and listen to some musical tunes!
Cheers to all and enjoy your CJ gear, they generally don't let you down...

Re: Audiogon Forum
+1, RJ.
My preference would be Johny Walker Black and some Miles or Trane.

I just went back to the audiogon thread and the OP hasn't responded in 10 days. No photos posted, etc. A little suspicious in my opinion.Big Dog RJ wrote:This certainly makes no sense with what has been stated. Seems like an awful lot of "hot air" ...

Also, interesting info about the quads. I am a little disappointed they make them in China now. I always thought of them as a British company.

Re: Audiogon Forum
Ha! there it is, seems like the OP has gone fishing...
I have also heard some very bad things about Audiogon, hence wouldn't touch it with a 10ft barge pole.
BTW, speaking of scotch, I've gotten used to the single malt versions, such as Glenfiddich, what a smooth drop! Only thing is it costs a fortune over here. Not sure why, perhaps because of imports or the distilling process but I guess well worth the spend. Lucky to get a bottle of 750ml for less than $80AUD.
Now the wifey has gotten used to it as well, and is consuming most of it during our listening sessions together, which is rather sweet but not when the bottle is empty! Bloody hell, I think I better fill one bottle up with plain tea, just to make her think all is good in there, and stash the actual stuff behind the Quads...
Yes, unfortunately the Quads are now made in China Admin. This happened around 2005 or slightly earlier, changed full production to China with design HQ's remaining in Briton, Huntingdon. Quad claims that the factories are based on stringent QC and all the nitty gritty have been taken care of in every aspect of production- hell no!
QC is at its worst that I have ever seen in a speaker manufacturer, especially at this price point. Hence, the main reason why so many of us are seeking alternatives to the help of EE's who can very easily repair and have the expertise and know how on restoring these beauties.
Back to that post about the Premier preamp being damaged liked that, I was in fact quite upset to hear about it at first. Gosh! I take such good care of my equipment, don't even allow dust or a finger print to settle, and this preamp was all twisted and mangled, jeeze! must have looked like a nightmare.
Anyway, back to that single malt now...
Cheers fellow music lovers and audiophiles, and most of all to our CJ brothers and sisters- keep enjoying that music and do look after your gear.
