Hello from Montreal

Post by Blueway »

Hi everyone!

Just new to the tube sound.. I currently have a complete Linn solid state aktiv system (Akurate DS, Kairn, Majik 6100 and Kabers), and I've bought a PV-12AL which should arrive shortly.

I've read a positive post about someone who also has a linn system where in he integrated a CJ preamp, and I can't wait to hear how it pairs with my rig!

Cheers

Blueway,
Welcome to the site. I think you're going to be very pleased with the PV12. I also own this unit and it truly sounds wonderful. Let us know what you think when you have everything set up. Congrats on the purchase.

Hi Admin,

I took some time before commenting, as I wanted to live with the preamp for a few weeks before making any comments. My PV12-AL has actually been modified by Bob Backert (he seems to have modified quite a lot of CJ amps). He's been really great with me, and made some necessary modifications, like improving the output capacitors (Auricap's) so they match my power amp's very low input impedance.

Anyhow, I have to admit that I am very pleased by this tube preamp. Coming from an all Linn system, which is solid state, I was a bit afraid to be disappointed.. but I'm not close to! This newcomer brings a lot of presence to music, and everything sounds alive! It came with Jan Philips tubes, and I've ordered PSVane this week-end, so I'm waiting for them to compare.

Cheers,
-Francis
