SOLD: c-j Premier 11A

A nice place to sell, buy, and trade anything (without the fees). See something on sale at another site, talk about it here.

SOLD: c-j Premier 11A

Post by pstrisik »

Sad to see it go. I didn't think I would sell this anytime soon. But I found my way into single ended, low power amps and single driver speakers and it doesn't look like I'm coming out.

Here's the ad text I will be using on ebay and audiogon:

Conrad-Johnson Premier 11A Amplifier - $1975

Excellent working condition. Excellent cosmetic condition save small dent in front lower right corner, minor paint scratch on right side - no other flaws. You can see these in the photos. Complete with tube cage, vintage RCA 5151's, vintage (unknown brand) 6CG7's, KT120 power tubes all with ~500 hours, original bound manual, biasing screwdriver, four spare fuses, and new factory box with inserts. Original MSRP $3500 in 1990's dollars.

In my opinion, this is the sweet spot in the Conrad-Johnson timeline 1993-2000. On the cusp between very warm and softer earlier models and more neutral later models, the 11A has just the right amount of midrange warmth. You can either run KT88, KT90, 6550 or KT120 power tubes. KT120's are included and are what C-J now endorses for the best sound. Note that these newer tubes are taller than the original 6550's. Therefore the tube cage would have to be lifted slightly to accommodate the height. I preferred to keep the amp displayed without the cage. It really looks designed to be displayed open where you can see the anodized gold top, bank of transformers at the rear and the fully glory of the tube glow! This is the Pr11A, the later version with noise reduction incorporated. The original model was the Pr11. As the name implies, C-J gave the Premier models the best quality parts. It was manufactured in 1997.

Shipping by either Fed-ex Home Delivery or Second Day. $1975 plus my actual insured shipping cost less 15% since I'm shipping from Anchorage Alaska. Box is 22 x 21 x 14 and 69 lbs. Paypal family and friends or money order, bank check after clearing. Regular Paypal adds 3%.

Tubes:
Four Tung-Sol KT120 (also compatible with 6550, KT88, KT90)
Two 5751
Two 6FQ7/6CG7

Traitor! Just joking of course, Peter. :D

Best of luck with the sale.

One small typo in your add. The first word in the 2nd line of the 2nd paragraph should be "amount" and not "about" -- sorry, I'm just anal about these things.

Thanks Joe. I fixed the typo. Funny how the mind uses the Gestalt principle. I read it over twice while looking for that errant "about" and didn't see it until the third read!
