Watched Prometheus on Blu-ray today. Visually it's right there in effects similar to Avatar. The music score is good too. For a sci-fi movie, the plot is decent and there's an actual story in there. I recommend it. I also saw The Avengers this week. It was entertaining. Two movies that I thought totally sucked are, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Lockout. Lockout is by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I want 90 minutes of my life back. That is all. Pat

Prometheus is a movie that I have been eagerly awaiting to see. I don't go to the movies that much anymore as I have pretty good home theater that I prefer. I usually will wait to see movies on Netflix and then if they are really good then make the purchase. Avatar is a great movie as well. I own the Blu-ray Extended Collector's Edition which is really nice and I feel adds to the theatrical release. I watched Avengers just the other week and really liked that as well. Can't wait for Thor 2 and the next Iron Man to come out.

Haven't seen Lockout, from the likes of your comments, I don't think I ever will.

Some movies that I watched in the last few weeks (Bolded films are blu-ray, linked ones are Laserdisc):

Live and Let Die *DEFECTIVE* (1973) [ML101418]=Classic, Roger Moore's first appearance as Bond. I am trying to watch a few of the older bond films that I have on Laserdisc as the new Skyfall movie just came out.

Snow White and the Huntsman=An OK movie. Nothing great. My fiancee loves anything with Chris Hemsworth so it had to be put on the Netflix queue.

Love Actually=Wasn't so impressed.

Man with the Golden Gun, The (1974) [ML101419]=One of the better bond films in my opinion.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) [70226]=Good comedy with Richard Prior and Gene Wilder.

Cabin in the Woods=An interesting take on horror films. I would recommend a watch.

Machine Gun Preacher=Didn't like this one at all. Too long and boring.

Transformers 3=Good demo disk, pretty bad story and acting.

Rio=Fun movie. Recommend it if you have kids.

Madagascar 3=same as "Rio".

Mr. Destiny (1990) [1126 AS]=A feel good movie with some big name actors. Good moral lesson of "appreciate the things you have." If you haven't seen this I would recommend a viewing. Good for the entire family.

The Amazing Spider-Man=I actually liked this version more than the Sam Rami trilogy.

Romeo + Juliet: Special Edition (1996) [0414385]=I like Shakespeare, but not a big fan of "Leo". Nonetheless, an interesting modern day take on a classic.

Watched Brave w/ my niece. An entertaining movie over all. Later I watched the new Amazing Spiderman flick. As I was watching it, I couldn't help but notice the score was very familiar. Watching the end credits I saw that it was by James Horner. He's my #1 fav composer. I have many soundtracks by him. That gave me great satisfaction. Oh and it was a very good movie. In some ways better than the others. I made a huge upgrade to my ctr ch speaker by adding a Nordost Blue Heaven LS (1M) between my Marantz MA-700 and Legacy Cinema HD. Talk about a huge improvement. The dialogue was deep in the lower freq and far more dynamic than before. No other movies to comment on at this time. Looking forward to the remake of Total Recall on Dec 18 and Dredd on Jan 8, 2013. Pat

I also watched Brave and the new Spiderman movie which I thought was really great. I listen to many soundtracks myself. When I'm not listening to music in my home theater, I will often have an Internet radio station called Streamingsoundtracks.com on in the background that's played over my house ceiling speakers as background music.

Here is my most recent watch list (bolded titles are Blu-ray, others are laserdisc):

Saint, The: Special Edition (1997) [LV 335363-WS]=One of Val Kilmers last good movies before he went totally downhill, both acting wise and physically.

Mosquito Coast, The (1986) [11711]=one of Harrison Ford's lesser know pics. River Phoenix is also a main character. Ok at best.

The Raven=This was a so-so movie. Good rental but not a buy.

Stripes (1981) [79166]=what a classic. If you haven't seen this then go rent it now!

Moonrise Kingdom-Another gem by Wes Anderson. Outstanding cast and great acting. The kids did a wonderful job.

Brave=an "Ok" digital movie.

My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) [82726]=light hearted comedy with Julia Roberts.

The Expendables 2=So this one is a love it or hate it picture. If you liked the over-the-top action movies of the 80's then your going to have a ball with this. Turn it up as it has a vibrant 7.1 soundtrack with plenty of explosions and an iconic 80's action star cast.... Sly, Arnold, Willis, Van Damne, Norris, etc...

I got Total Recall (the 2012 remake) for Christmas and The Bourne Legacy. Both were excellent. The CGI on Total Recall was excellent. Although the story line was predictable, it wasn't as corny as the 1990 original film. But they did pay plenty of homage to the original film, but it was classy and entertaining. The Bourne Legacy was also very good. Highly recommended. I also watched The Dark Knight Rises. A most excellent film if you enjoyed the first two films. Some of the dialogue from Bain was hard to comprehend b/c of the mask. I suggest you turn up the volume on your ctr ch spkr to help out there. I also watched Men In Black 3 recently. Honestly, if you have HBO or someone to bum the movie from do that. I don't think you should waste your money on a disc. It's entertaining enough, but not enough to keep a disc in your collection. That is all for today, Pat.

Here is my most recent watch list (bolded titles are Blu-ray, others are laserdisc, The Hobbit was the theater):

Men In Black 3-Not too bad. I think I like the first one the best but considering this is a decade into the series it was pretty good.

Private Parts (1997) [LV 332513-WS]- An "ok" late 90's movie. If you are a Howard Stern fan, then a definitely must see but this was, "so so" in my opinion.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World- Interesting movie, a good movie if you want to see something on the "sad" side of things.

Life Less Ordinary, A (1997) [0277285]- An early Danny Boyle movie. A rather young Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor do a good job in this "unusual" tale.

Lawless- Good movie about moonshiners and early gangsters in the prohibition era.

Dark Shadows- Typical Depp/Burton film. If you like their movies then check it out. I thought it was pretty good.

Die Hard (1988) [8905-85]- I saw this during Christmas time. One of my favorite Christmas movies and definitely the best one of the series.

Total Recall (2012)- lots of CGI eye candy. Not much of a story. If you like the Schwarzenegger version you'll probably be disappointed as it's quite different, if you hated the Schwarzenegger version you'll probably like it.

Drive- One of the best movies of the last decade. If you haven't seen this one yet go and check it out immediately. Great story, visuals, music, etc.

Cool Runnings (1993) [2325 AS]- My mom was visiting and this is one of her favorite films. Unless your watching this with your mom I would stay away.

Legend- Early 80's fantasy classic. I really enjoyed this movie when I was a kid and still do. Some people say it's cheesy, but the set design is incredible. I also find that the cinematography is great. If you liked the theatrical version, watch the directors cut as it's a completely different movie.

The Dark Knight Rises- If I have to review this, it means you live in a cave, in which case you probably don't have Internet and are not reading this. Like eagle6014 says, turn the volume up on this one!

Iron Man 2- One of the movies under the Christmas tree. Not so great a story but a good demo disk to test out your speakers for explosions! Mindless fun,... it has it's place.

Rock of Ages- I enjoyed the 80's as it brought back good memories. I think Tom Cruise actually did a pretty good job. However, this was a terrible movie. The two leads were just terrible and the story was not so great. I would skip this unless you want to hear some mediocre renditions of 80's rock.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey- So this I saw at the movies. I really enjoyed The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's not as good as that, but it is an entertaining movie. I should comment that I saw the 2D version so I can't comment on the 3D version.

LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring- Got this for Christmas. Great movie, enough said. If you haven't seen the trilogy run out to the store and buy it. I highly recommend the Enhanced Editions as they put in about 40 minutes extra into each movie (the theatrical cuts are about 3 hours each themselves) and are well worth it. If you watch all three films, it's not just entertainment but an experience.

Looper- Good Bruce Willis movie. I recommend it.

LOTR: The Two Towers- Same as above.

Only one movie to comment on today. I wanted to see it at the cinema, but Dredd on Blu-ray to me was some fine entertainment. Yeah the story line could have used a little more help and the acting was ok, it's the human carnage that takes center stage here. I'm not saying I support violence, but the body count is most impressive. And the way it's done is creative in many scenes. Karl Urban makes for a better Judge Dredd than Stallone did in my opinion. The soundtrack is pretty good too. I like soundtracks so I will hunt one down. Pat

@eagle6014
I saw Dredd as well and had pretty low expectations. I also liked it as well. Not a "cerebral movie" but good action sequences and I found the sound track to be quite good as well.

As for what I have been watching recently (bolded titles are blu-ray):

Ted- a very funny and good movie. Probably some of the best work Mark Wahlberg has done in the past decade. Definitely check it out (Rated R).

Princess Bride, The (1987) [77096]- Ah, what a classic. This is one of my favorite movies from the 80's. I recently read the book, and I actually think the movie is superior. If you have not seen this, get the entire family together and have a great time!

The Campaign- Another "Will Ferral" comedy, didn't like this one too much. I think it was boring.

LotR: The Return of the King- Finished up the LotR trilogy on Blu-ray. What can I say, one of the best trilogies in movie history.

Cutthroat Island (1995) [LD 60266-WS]- Quite cheezy movie most famous for putting Carolco Pictures out of business due to this flop.

Dredd- As mentioned above. A fun sci-fi action movie. Much better than the Stallone version (but I guess that is not saying much).

The Bourne Legacy- I was never a big fan of the "Bourne" movies. I simply don't like the excessive "shakey cam" action. However, this was pretty darn good considering it's a franchise reboot with a completely new actor.

Samsara- Ok so this is the one to see people. It's unlike anything you have ever seen (other than Baraka)! It a documentary, no,... a nature show,... no.... a social commentary,... no.... I don't know what the hell it is but it's beautiful. If you haven't seen this, watch it (and buy it). The video quality is reference, great music, and it's probably the most entertaining "movie" that you will ever see that has not one word of dialog!

Hard to Kill (1990) [11914]- Cheezy early 90's Steven Segal action flick. I think the "cheeziness" makes it fun.

Nobody's Fool (1994) [LV32941-WS]- Great acting. Paul Newman, Jessica Tandy, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith, Philip Seymour Hoffman. Definitely worth a viewing.

Recent watch list (bolded titles are blu-ray):

The Big Year - Fun comedy. It's been awhile since I saw Steve Martin in a "good" movie. Good rental.

Marked for Death (1990) [1865-80]- Cheesy 80's Steven Segal movie.

My Blue Heaven (1990) [12003]- I was inspired to watch this after watching Steve Martin in "The Big Year." This is a classic, definitely worth a viewing.
To Rome with Love - Another Woody Allen european drama. This didn't strike a cord with me for some reason. Very similar to "Midnight in Paris", except this was not as good. I do recommend watching "Midnight in Paris" however.
Seven Psychopaths - Funny morbid comedy with some big name actors. Definitely worth a rental.

Mr. Baseball (1992) [41461]- My fiancee and I like Tom Selleck movies, so we spun this up in the player. Very fun and entertaining.

The Cold Light of Day - Was not expecting too much from this one. Kind of shallow murder/action movie. Henry Cavill is becoming a big name actor, first Immortals (which I really liked), and then the new superman reboot coming this year.

The Avengers - Got the Blu-ray as a present this month so we had another viewing. AAA action sci-fi movie. Very good sound. I bought a new subwoofer this week (Hsu Research VTF-15H) which should arrive next Monday, I think I will have to revisit this to compare as there are a lot of explosions and low end sounds.

Maltese Falcon, The (1941) [ML101546]- I had actually never seen this classic. I'm glad I saw it on laserdisc as it aids in that nostalgic feel. Good movie.

Commando (1985) [1484-80]- Classic definition of 80's action movie... just all around fun with great lines like "I'll be back."

Recent watch list (bolded titles are blu-ray):

Cannonball Run, The (1981) [VL6001]- I had not seen this in 20 years. I should have waited another 20. Very cheesy movie.

Flight-quite a good Denzel Washington movie. I recommend a viewing.

Crocodile Dundee (1986) [LV 32029]- Now this is a great movie. Just a total 80's classic. If you've never seen this, go out and get it.

Thor- A rewatch, but always one that is fun to turn up the volume and have that sub shake the room.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows- Another good one for demoing that subwoofer.

End of Watch- Ok, but I hate "shaky cam". I was about to turn it off half way through just because I hate when they shake the camera so vigoursly for no good reason.

Star Trek VIII: First Contact (1996) [LV332433-WS]- Probably the best Star Trek movie with the TNG cast. If you like Scifi, makes a good watch.

Bad Girls (1994) (Uncut) [8627-85]- Pretty terrible. I watched this as my fiancee likes Drew Barrymore.

Trouble with the Curve- So so movie with Clint Eastwood.

Out for Justice (1991) [12219]- Another cheezy but fun Steven Seagal movie. It's so bad that it's good.

Arbitrage- Actually pretty good movie with Richard Gere.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) [ID6481OR]- Funny movie with Steve Martin at his all time best. Michael Caine also does a good job.

Superman: The Movie (1978) [1013 LV]- Classic Richard Donner movie.

Skyfall- If you haven't seen it, definitely check it out. Very entertaining. I also liked how they payed homage to the some of the earlier bond movies.

Superman 2 (1980) [11120LV]- Ok but not as good as the first.

The Sessions- Actually quite funny. The main actor (I don't know his name) did a really good job.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows- repeat viewing for testing out the new Hsu VTF-15H subwoofer.

Superman III (1983) [12032]- it's pretty much a slow downhill. Richard Pryor did this one for a big paycheck but doesn't deliver.

Sinbad Collection, The: 7th Voyage/Golden Voyage/Eye of Tiger [09916]- Ray Harryhausen shows off his stop motion abilities in this very nice boxed set trilogy. The 7th Voyage was pretty good, and a slow downhill from there.

Zero Dark Thirty- The "true story" of how they caught Bin Laden. Not bad.

Argo- Very entertaining movie. Definitely recommend.

The Man with the Iron Fists- I can't believe Russel Crowe was in this movie. Absolutely horrible.

Stargate (1994) [LD60190-WS]- Very good movie. And this disc has a nice 5.1 AC3 soundtrack.

Outland (1981) [12224]- Classic early 80's scifi "space suspense" movie with Sean Connery.

Red Dawn (2012)- Ok at best, I think the 80's version was significantly better.

Only the Lonely (1991) [1877-85]- Fun romantic comedy with John Candy.

Killing Them Softly- So-so with Brad Pitt. Ok rental, not a buy.

Hoosiers (1986) [ID6085VE]- Classic Gene Hackman movie. Pick this up if you have never seen it before.

Beetlejuice (1988) [11785]- Classic Tim Burton movie. Definite watch.

Hitchcock-Very good film, I would recommend a watch.

Flashdance (1983) [LV1454]- Wonderful 80's classic, I can't believe people actually dressed like that! This was the first time I actually saw the "uncensored" (non-broadcast) version.

Well in the last week I saw Hansel & Gretel. It was entertaining actually even though it was a short movie (<90 min). I also watched Jack Reacher. Let's just say I saw that movie ONCE! And over the weekend I saw Man of Steel at the cinema. I will buy that on Blu-ray. That is all, Pat.

As you posted this I was watching Hansel and Gretel! I am looking forward to seeing the new Man of Steel movie. I hope it's good after the disappointment in Superman Returns a few years ago.

Here is what I've been watching over the past few months (blu-ray's bolded):

Heavenly Creatures (1994) [4371 AS]- One of Peter Jackson's earlier films. Didn't really like it to much but worth a view.

Life of Pi- Great film. Highly recommended.

Drive- One of my favorites. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

Witness (1985) [LV1736-WS]- Harrison Ford classic.

The Hobbit- Not as good as Lord of the Rings but still very good.

Django Unchained- Excellent Tarentino movie. Definitely worth a view.

Bachelor Party (1984) [1440-80]- Tom Hanks when he was still making comedies. Quite funny.

Thor- good action movie. Great sound.

The Impossible- Definitely worth a watch. A good "based on a true story" movie.

Turner & Hooch (1989) [911 AS]- Another Tom Hanks comedy. Not so great.

Samsara- One of my favorite documentaries. Some of the best video quality available on blu-ray.

Rise of the Guardians- Ok kids movie.

Silver Linings Playbook- Ok movie. Worth a rental but not a buy.

The Avengers- Fun blockbuster extravaganza.

Conan the Destroyer (1984) [40079]- Classic Arnold, definitely worth it!

Broken City- Ok movie. Not great. Worth a rental.

Red Sonja (1985) [4733-80]- Absolutely terrible movie.

Immortals- Fun action and adventure. Much like 300.

Jack Reacher- An "ok" Tom Cruise movie. Pretty much a rental.

Logan's Run (1976) [ML100082]- Classic 70's sci-fi. Definitely worth a view if you haven't seen it before.

This is 40- Ok at best. I was expecting something funnier.

Anna Karenina- I really hated this. I didn't like the way they tried to put the entire movie in one room. It just didn't fit the period piece well. Thumbs down.

Clue (1985) [LV 1840]- One of my fiancee's favorite. Great family movie.

Ice Age: Continental Drift- "ok" at best. I think they are running out of ideas and just milking the franchise at this point.

The Last Stand- Arnold is back,... but just barely. Pretty mediocre.

Twins (1988) [40873]- This one Arnold is at his best, and some real acting by Danny Devitoe. Highly recommend.

Gangster Squad- Basically the "untouchables" with a new cast. Wasn't so great in my opinion.

The Numbers Station- It was ok. A lot of suspense. Worth a rental but not a buy.

Blade Runner (Final Cut)- One of the best blu-ray's ever released. This is how a re-release should be done. If you don't own it, get it!

Warm Bodies- A great twist on the zombie movie. It's really a loves story. Definitely worth a watch.

Cloud Atlas- Interesting movie. I don't know why so many reviews said it was confusing. Even though there are a lot of flashbacks and forwards, it's releativly ease to follow. Check it out.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters- I thought it was ok, my fiancee liked it. Typical action adventure movie.

Watched Oblivion on Blu-ray today. Actually it was a very decent movie. A most unique story. The FX was excellent and the music score top notch. I recommend it. Looking forward to Star Trek Into Darkness Sep 10. At least that's what the Best Buy web site says. Pat

I am really looking forward to seeing Oblivion. I liked Tron: Legacy and this is the director's 2nd movie.

This is what I have been watching recently (blu-ray's in black):

Oz The Great and Powerful- An "ok" movie. Nothing special. I'm not a very big James Franco fan.

Tin Men (1987) [571 AS]- Very good movie with great acting. Danny Devito and Richard Dreyfuss at some of their best. A must see.

Fabulous Baker Boys, The (1989) [ID7353IV]- Another great movie. The Bridges brothers do an excellent job and Michelle Pfeiffer shows she can actually sing.

Lincoln- Daniel Day-Lewis brings in another great performance.

A Good Day to Die Hard- Very disappointed. I don't think Bruce Willis cares about anything (other than a paycheck) anymore. Definitely the worst of Die Hard series.

Promised Land- Fairly good movie.

Snitch- Seems like Dwayne Johnson is in everything now. Good for a rental.

Jack the Giant Slayer- Fairly entertaining. Definitely a good rental.

Ice Pirates, The (1984) [ML100427]- Cheezy 80's cheap Star Wars knock-off. It's so bad that it's good.

Rambo- Stallone pulls it together for another one. Quite bloody which makes it "fun."

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone- Little dissapointed in this one. Not more than a rental.

Alien Vs. Predator : Requiem- Perhaps the worst one in the "alien/predator" series. Not recommended.

Hyde Park on Hudson- Fun movie with good acting.

Beastmaster, The (1982) [ML100226]- Another 80's cheezy classic. Think of a "cheap conan".

Blazing Saddles (1974) [1001]- Classic comedy. Definitely worth a viewing.

Yor: The Hunter from the Future (1983) [VLD 6070]- Ok this one makes B movies look bad. Think of it as a cheap "C" movie.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation- More of a reboot than a sequal. I liked it much better than the first. Has some nice action scenes.

Jurassic Park (1993) [41830]- What a classic. This was the 5 sided CAV version. Very nice.

Solomon Kane- What Van Helsing (with Hugh Jackman) should have been. I don't think this movie ever made it to the theaters in America despite a fairly large budget. Worth a watch.

Rocketeer, The (1991) [1239 AS]- Disney trying to get into the super hero movie genre 15 years too early. Worth a watch. A young Jennifer Connely does a good
supporting role.

Stoker- Kind of freaky movie with Nicole Kidman. Nothing too special.

The Avengers- 1.5 billion dollar action adventure movie, need I say more?

Mud- I liked this, the fiancee didn't. Good acting from the young kids. Worth a watch.

Back to the Future Part III (1990) [40976]- Finnaly hunted down a copy of this for my laserdisc collection. Very fun movie (all three).

Quick Change (1990) [12004]- Bill Murray, Geena Davis, and Randy Quaid in a "not so good" comedy.

Olympus Has Fallen- I was surprised how good this was. I think this is the most entertaining Gerald Butler has been since 300.

Drive- One of my favorites. Check this out if you haven't seen it.

Watched Star Trek Into Darkness. Great Sci-Fi flick. It's really good and creative. :D

World War Z: That's a part of my life I'll never get back. I don't know who the bigger fool is, Brad Pitt for making it or me buying it. I suggest you wait for a neighbor to buy it and then still don't borrow it. What a stinker! :x

I enjoyed Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z is on my list. Not expecting too much from WWZ....

Here is my recent watch list (Blu-ray in black):

Color of Money, The (1986) [513 AS] - Absolutely great movie. Paul Newman at some of his best. Definitely worth seeing if you have not seen this one.

U2: Rattle & Hum (1988) [LV32228] - Early U2 footage. Kind of unusual break going from an hour of black and white and then to color. If you like U2, this is a good one to put on and turn up the volume.

The Dictator - "Ok" at best. If you enjoy vulgar comedy it's a good rental. Definitely not as good as Borat.

Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness (1993) [41603] - Cult classic Bruce Campbell flick. This movie has a large cult following for a good reason. Definitely worth a watch.

Quest For Fire (1981) [1148-85] - Interesting "non-verbal" film. It was funny seeing Ron Perlman in one of his first roles.

Yum Yum Girls (1978) [28-010] - This was one of those "I have this weird film and better watch or I never will." It's a pretty bad late 70's flick. You can skip this one.

Used Cars (1978) [VLD 6000] - Not very impressed with this one either. I would skip.

The Princess Bride - Ah the classic.... this one is always a buy!

42 - A good performance by Harrison Ford. Definitely worth a rental.

Forbidden Planet (1956) [ML102321] - Classic sci-fi with Lesli Neilson. Often described as the first modern sci-fi movie.

Oblivion - Ok, I was really impressed with this. I think this is Tom Cruz's best work in the past decade. The movie's visuals were really unique and it had a great soundtrack. Highly recommended.

Police Academy (1984) [20016 LV] - Classic comedy. Fun 80's romp. Whatever happened to Steve Guttenberg?

Star Trek Into Darkness - Big blockbuster scifi film that I liked more than the previous film. Good sound a visuals.

Cabin Boy (1994) [2521 AS] - A forgettable comedy.

Pain & Gain - In terms of story, probably the best Michael Bay movie yet. Mark Walhberg, The Rock, and the rest of the cast do a really good job.

Medicine Man (1992) [1358 AS] - Interesting Sean Connery movie. A rental at most.

Now You See Me - I was quite underwhelmed with this. Many pseudo-big name actors but it somehow wasn't very entertaining.

Iron Man 3 - Lot's of action, explosions, and overall fun. Need I say more?

The Place Beyond the Pines - Interesting story of how two families lives are connected.

Max Payne - Pretty bad video game adaptation. I remember playing the games over a decade ago which seemed to be a lot better. Rental at most.

The Great Gatsby - I was hesitant as I read online reviews saying that the music was full of rap (which I don't particularly enjoy). Well, it was not too bad. I liked the visuals and the acting was pretty descent as well.

Forget Paris (1995) [11996] - Fun romantic comedy with Billy Crystal and Deborah Winger. Some great scenes.

Manhattan Project: The Deadly Game (1986) [ID6681HB] - Fun 80's movie with John Lithgow.

Behind the Candelabra - Great acting by Michael Douglas and Matt Damian. Definitely worth a watch.

The Grey - I really enjoyed this Liam Neeson Movie. One of the best survival movies in the past decade. Highly recommended.

Here is my recent watch list (Blu-ray in black):

World War Z - Not a bad film. Typically action zombie movie.

Congo (1995) [LV 33038-WS]- Talking gorillas, and a volcano full of diamonds.

This Is the End - Did not like this at all. It was painful to watch.

Die Another Day - Mediocre James Bond. Was never a big fan of Bronson as Bond.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - The best part about this movie is the memories it brings back of the first three.

Poltergeist (1982) (Uncut) [ML104865] - Watched this around Holloween. Definitely a must see.

The Company You Keep - So so. Definitely a rental and not a buy.

Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) [ML100940] - Continuing the Holloween series.

Willow (1988) [30936] - I really loved this movie. Yes, Val Kilmer wasn't really good, but the music is great and it has a little bit of a Lord of the Rings vibe.

Heavy Metal (1981) [74656] - Classic, must see.

Only God Forgives - I am a huge fan of the movie Drive which also had Gosling in the staring role and same director. Unfortunatly, this is nowhere near as good. It's a "weird" movie that I think most people will "not get" or like.

Emperor - I enjoy period pieces but I thought that overall it was pretty boring.

After Earth - I can't believe the garbage M. Night Shyamalan has been turning out in the past few years. It seems like he gets worse with each and every movie he makes. This is absolutely terrible. I wish Wil Smith would stop pushing his kid to act as Jayden is just terrible.

Monsters University - It was ok, but I liked the previous ones better.

The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition- I really am not going to say anything here because I love the LotR movies.

Dutch (Driving Me Crazy) (1991) [1929-80] - Very good Thanksgiving/Christmas movie for the entire family. Ed O'Neill is great.

Hangover 3 - Pretty terrible. I liked the first one, the second one not so much, and this one even less.

Thor: The Dark World (theater) - Pretty good, although the first one was better on all levels in my opinion.

Ender's Game (theater) - Actually not too bad. Wasn't expecting much but it was quite entertaining.

Pacific Rim - Giant robots fighting giant sea monsters. Get the popcorn, turn down the lights, and jack up the volume. Enough said.

Lovelace - Pretty boring overall (especially considering the topic).

Quigley Down Under (1990) [ML102174] - Fun movie. Definitely recommend a watch.

Bullet to the Head - Stallone has been pumping out the action movies lately. This is one of the weaker ones (Rambo, Expendable I and II are much better).

Like Father Like Son (1987) [ID5287TS]- Classic cult 80's movie with a good performance by Dudley Moore. Recommend a viewing if you have never seen it.

R.I.P.D. - This got scathing reviews, and although I would not describe it as a "good movie." I actually thought it was entertaining, but that may have just been due to the fact that Jeff Bridges was in it.

Men in Black (1997) [82656] - The best of the series. Definitely worth a watch.

Before Midnight - Talk talk talk talk. And more talk. This is the third one in the series for those not familiar with the movie. I would recommend watching the first two before taking this on.

Drinking Buddies - I thought this was really boring. Skip.

Ghostbusters (1984) [30413] - Absolute 80's classic. Must see.

Man of Steel - I had been waiting to see this one for a long time. I really liked it. The action was ok, but I liked the fact that they took the character and the history in a different direction and although aspects were recognizable compared to the Reeve's series, it had it's own style. The soundtrack was also amazing.

Ghostbusters 2 (1989) [50166] - Not as much of a classic as the first one. But still very good.

The English Teacher - I thought this was boring and was very predictable.

Barbarella: Queen of the Galaxy (1968) [LV6812-WS] - I can't even begin to offer an explanation on this one. Way out there Italian trippy film. If you have never seen it, I would recommend it as it is a cult classic.

Elysium - I liked District 9 and it seems the director is continuing similar themes here. I would recommend you see this if you have not.

The World's End - This movie received really great reviews but honestly I did not think so much of it in all honesty. Maybe I just don't get the "British Humor".

Cliffhanger (1993) [LD 52236-WS] - Classic Stallone and probably one of his better movies.

The Heat - I really didn't find this to be all that funny.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Extended Edition - If you are a Tolkien fan than this is obviously a must see. No, it's not as good as LotR, but it's still entertaining.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Theater)- Very good as well. Definitely recommend a viewing.

The Wolverine - A descent X-men film. Heads up, there is a mid-credit scene that I completely missed when viewing the film so don't turn it off as soon as the credits role.

Crocodile Dundee II (1988) [LV 32147-WS] - A fun family romp movie. Not as good as the first but still entertaining.

Fast & Furious 6 - It's sad to watch this movie knowing Walker is gone. Entertaining, but I liked the last one in the series better.

Red 2 - Descent movie. Nothing special.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - Entertaining but the first two were better and with Rachel Weisz no longer playing the main character it's not the same.

The Lone Ranger - Moderately entertaining but nothing too special.

Kick-Ass 2 - So this was a big surprise. I actually really liked it. Wacky superhero movie. If you haven't seen the first one, you should see that first. But this is definitely worth a watch.

Trainspotting: Special Edition #325 (1996) (Uncut) [CC1477L] - Danny Boyle always makes interesting movies. Definitely something "different."

Well seems like the two of you covered just about everything in my collection....just about. Didnt read through them all that was listed(I will) but have a few that I found to either be great stories, great A/V or both....

First, gotta admit I just got off a Farscape marathon...lol.

Bunraku - is a very unique "film", worth at least one watch, but there is more if you dig a bit deeper. Many different facets....

Avengers - and of course all the related movies, tip for Captain America...make sure you get "The First Avenger" version, the other is not so hot.

Boondock Saints I and II - again somewhat unique in its presentation, I dont like spoilers so....just watch it...lol.

Firefly series and the follow up movie Serenity - again good for a sci-fi marathon.

Death Proof - a bit violent, but a good flick if you dont mind the gore, not recommended for the kids...(but fantastic car chases).

Almost anything from Pixar....and I dont even have kids....heh.

The Fountain - Just watched this one last night, very different movie...will have to watch at least a few more times....

Kung-Fu Hustle---- Yeah, I know...but try watching it with the english subtitles and the english overdub...that in and of itself is hilarious. Yes it is kinda goofy, but if you are a Kung-Fu martial arts movie fan(especially the old ones), there are lots of what I presume to be homages to them.

Finally, The Warrior's Way - just a good martial arts western....really....love it!

The Wolverine. Entertaining. Yeah I saw the extra end credit. Interesting.
The Hunger Games. I didn't think I would like this movie, but I did. Now I gotta see the next one.
The Croods. Bought this one for my niece. She likes it. It has it's moments where it's entertaining.
Pacific Rim. Wait for it to come out on cable or borrow it. Don't buy it.
And I saw the Robocop remake at the cinema. Good visuals, good acting, weak story, & an adequate amount of violence. Entertaining none the less.
