For those of you with Netflix streaming here are two of their own productions well worth watching in my opinion:

[b]House of Cards[/b] http://www.imdb.c ... f_=nv_sr_1 (Seasons 1 & 2): featuring two characters you just love to hate portrayed by Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright plus an excellent ensemble. If you believe that American politics is a vast snake pit, you won't be disappointed.

[b]Orange Is The New Black[/b] http://w ... f_=nv_sr_1 (Season 1): amazing how much they got right although there is still some suspension of disbelief required. Another series where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

GRAVITY. It looks as good at home as it did thrice in theaters last year. This is a technological and artistic high point for Cuaron and crew.

We decided to watch Star Trek The Original Series (on Laserdisc) recently so we have been going through a few episodes per week.

Here is my recent watch list (Blu-ray in black):

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters - A rather forgetable fantasy romp.

Epic - This one I thought was actually pretty entertaining. Not the best CGI movie ever but semi-original story.

2 Guns - Ok action movie. Rental.

Tron: Legacy - Audio/video demo disk quality.

Prisoners - Very good psychological thriller. Recommend a watch.

Ender's Game - Descent sci-fi movie. If your a fan of the books, highly recommended.

Mr. Baseball (1992) [41461] - Cheezy but fun sports movie.

Star Trek Next Generation #023/24: Symbiosis/We'll Always Have Paris [LV 40270-123] - My brother is watching the entire series and was over, so I figured we see this one on laserdisc.

Star Trek Next Generation #025/26: Conspiracy/Neutral Zone [LV 40270-125] - Same as above.

Escape Plan - Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Need I say more. It was ok but the tough guy thing is getting hard to sell when your insurance is Medicare.

Sudden Death (1995) [42777] - One of Van Dam's classic movies.

Riddick - Taking it back to the roots on this one. It was about 20 minutes too long, but not a bad film.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Probably my favorite of the new Sherlock movies.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Fun teens growing up movie. Pretty good.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition - no explanation needed.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition - ditto.

Machete Kills - Pretty crazy movie, but kind of fun.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: Special Edition #168 (1975) [CC1311L] - I had not seen this in a really long time. I know it's a classic and it has a big fan base but I just don't get the "British humor".

Rush - Really great movie. Definitely recommend a watch.

Oldboy - So so. I heard the original was much better so I guess I would recommend watching that instead.

The Spectacular Now - Another teen movie. Touches on some serious issues but didn't particularly like the main actor.

All Is Lost - Interesting solo project with Robert Redford. I would recommend a watch.

Star Trek #106: The Cage: Disc #26 All-Color Collector's Edition (1989) [LV 60040-99] - Decided to watch the original Star Trek series in production order. I think I'm in for a long haul.

Star Trek #082: Where No Man/Naked Time: Disc #2 (1966) [LV 60040-82] - Nice to see the old cast starting to get together.

Star Trek #085: Dagger/Corbomite Maneuver: Disc #5 (1966) [LV 60040-85] - Watched the Corbomite Maneuver, I am watching the series in production order, not air date order.

Star Trek #083: Enemy Within/Mudd's Women: Disc #3 (1966) [LV 60040-83] - continuing the series...

Last Vegas - Pretty good "old guy" movie.

Star Trek #081: Man Trap/Charlie X: Disc #1 (1966) [LV 60040-81] - The Man Trap

Star Trek #082: Where No Man/Naked Time: Disc #2 (1966) [LV 60040-82] - Naked Time

Gravity - Really good movie. Definitely worth watching.

Captain Phillips - Another good suspense movie.

Star Trek #081: Man Trap/Charlie X: Disc #1 (1966) [LV 60040-81] - Charlie X, pretty good episode.

Star Trek #086: The Conscience of the King/Balance of Terror: Disc #6 (1985) [LV 60040-86] - BoT, first look at the Romulans.

The Wolf of Wall Street - Entertaining movie. Worth a watch.

Star Trek #010/12: What Are Little Girls Made of?/Miri: DIsc #4 (1966) [LV 60040-84] - WaLGMo

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - Not very impressed. Some big name cameos but otherwise pretty dull movie.

Star Trek #085: Dagger/Corbomite Maneuver: Disc #5 (1966) [LV 60040-85] - Dagger of the Mind

Star Trek #010/12: What Are Little Girls Made of?/Miri: DIsc #4 (1966) [LV 60040-84] - Miri

Star Trek #086: The Conscience of the King/Balance of Terror: Disc #6 (1985) [LV 60040-86] -tCotK

Star Trek #087: Shore Leave/Galileo Seven: Disc #7 [LV 60040-87] - G7

Trance - entertaining Danny Boyle movie.

Star Trek #089: Tomorrow Is Yesterday/Court-Martial: Disc #9 (1967) [LV 60040-89] - CM

Star Trek: The Menagerie: Part I & II (1966) [LV 60041]

Star Trek #087: Shore Leave/Galileo Seven: Disc #7 [LV 60040-87] - SL

Star Trek #088: Squire of Gothos/Arena: Disc #8 (1967) [LV 60040-88] - SoG

Star Trek #088: Squire of Gothos/Arena: Disc #8 (1967) [LV 60040-88] - Arena

Star Trek #093: Alternative/City on the Edge: Disc #13 [LV 60040-93] - The Alternative Factor

12 Years a Slave - Very good movie, definitely recommend.

Star Trek #090: Return of the Archons/Space Seed: Disc #10 (1967) [LV 60040-90] - RotA

Star Trek #091: Taste/This Side of Paradise: Disc #11 [LV 60040-91] - A Taste of Armageddon

Frozen - Ok so I know everybody is buying this movie, but frankly I thought it was just "Ok." Entertaining, but I don't know why it's breaking all these Blu-ray sales records.

Saving Mr. Banks - Fun little movie. Recommend as a rental.

Star Trek #090: Return of the Archons/Space Seed: Disc #10 (1967) [LV 60040-90] - Space Seed

Star Trek #091: A Taste of Armageddon/This Side of Paradise: Disc #11 [LV 60040-91] -TSoP

Thor: The Dark World - Fun big budget movie.

Star Trek #092: Devil/Errand of Mercy: Disc #12 [LV 60040-92] - The Devil in the Dark

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - Not really into this franchise. I thought the movie was quite slow, and no real ending (just a cliff hanger).

Star Trek #093: The Alternative Factor/City on the Edge: Disc #13 [LV 60040-93] - City on the Edge of Forever

Star Trek #094: Operation Annihilate/Amok Time: Disc #14 [LV 60040-94] - Operation-Annihilate

American Hustle - Entertaining semi-fiction.

Grudge Match- Stallone and DeNiro definitely "not" at their best.

Star Trek #097: Catspaw/Doomsday Machine: Disc #17 [LV 60040-97] - Catspaw

Star Trek #099: Journey To Babel/Friday's Child: #19 (1985) [LV 60040-99] - Friday's Child

47 Ronin - Pretty entertaining. Good rental.

Star Trek #033/37: Who Mourns for Adonais?/Changeling (1967) [LV 60040-95] - WMfA

Star Trek #094: Operation Annihilate/Amok Time: Disc #14 [LV 60040-94] - AT

Star Trek #097: Catspaw/Doomsday Machine: Disc #17 [LV 60040-97] - DM

Although I don't always agree with your comments (hardly a surprise since no two people's tastes are exactly the same), you do the readership of this forum a great service by posting the movies you've seen. Sometimes it'll highlight something worth watching that we might otherwise have missed. Thank you.

Thanks Joe. I have to admit that some of the movies I find enjoyable are pretty wacky and most people wouldn't like them. But that's ok, everybody is entitled to their opinion. :)

Latest Watch List (blu-ray disks bolded):

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Big LotR fan so of course I am going to recommend this.

Star Trek #101: Wolf in Fold/Trouble With Tribbles: Disc #21 [LV 60040-101] - WiF

Star Trek #033/37: Who Mourns for Adonais?/Changeling (1967) [LV 60040-95] - The Changeling

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - This was entertaining and had a great soundtrack. I think the soundtrack had a major influence on me liking this film. I would recommend definitely recommend a watch.

Star Trek #096: Mirror Mirror/Apple: Disc #16 (1967) [LV 60040-96] - The Apple

Star Trek #096: Mirror Mirror/Apple: Disc #16 (1967) [LV 60040-96] - Mirror Mirror

I, Frankenstein - Mediocre at best.

Star Trek #100: Deadly Years/Obsession: Disc #20 [LV 60040-100] -Deadly Years

Star Trek #103: Immunity/Private Little War: Disc #23 [LV 60040-103] - PLW

Star Trek #102: Gamesters/Piece of the Action: Disc #22 [LV 60040-102] - GoT

Star Trek #100: Deadly Years/Obsession: Disc #20 [LV 60040-100] - O

Star Trek #103: Immunity/Private Little War: Disc #23 [LV 60040-103] - Immunity Syndrome

Star Trek #102: The Gamesters of Triskelion/Piece of the Action: Disc #22 [LV 60040-102] - PotA

Star Trek #105: By Any Other Name/Omega Glory: Disc #25 [LV 60040-105] - AON

The Monuments Men - This was a good movie but I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. Admittedly I had very high expectations. Great cast of actors, based on a really important historical basis (if not truly accurate), but the screenplay was lacking. Characters were kept superficial which detracted from the overall feel of the movie. I still recommend a viewing but this could have been one of the "great movies" and it turned to be just "ok."

Star Trek #051/52: Return To Tommorrow/Patterns of Force (1968) [LV 60040-104] - RtT

The Croods - Fairly funny animated movie.

Star Trek #051/52: Return To Tomorrow/Patterns of Force (1968) [LV 60040-104] - PoF

Star Trek #107: Ultimate/Bread & Circuses: Disc #27 [LV 60040-107] - tUC

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Not a bad action flick. Rental worthy.

Star Trek #105: By Any Other Name/Omega Glory: Disc #25 [LV 60040-105] - OG

Star Trek #108: Assignment Earth/Spock's Brain : Disc #28 (1968) [LV 60040-108] - AE

Star Trek #111: Spectre/Day of the Dove: Disc #31 (1968) [LV 60040-111] - SotG

Her - Slightly slow story, but an interesting concept of technology and human interaction.

Star Trek #114: Empath/Elaan of Troylus: Disc #34 (1968) [LV 60040-114] - EoT

Blue Jasmine - Not bad, but not great either. Cate Blanchett did a good job but the rest of the cast was so so. And the movie has no ending.

Star Trek #109: Enterprise/Paradise Syndrome: Disc #29 (1968) [LV 60040-109] PS and EI

Grand Piano - Short suspense thriller.

Star Trek #110: And the Children/Is There in Truth: Disc #30 (1968) [LV 60040-110] - AtCSL

The Call - had some suspenseful moments but plot was a little iffy.

Star Trek #110: And the Children Shall Lead/Is There in Truth No Beauty: Disc #30 (1968) [LV 60040-110] -ITiTNB

Star Trek #111: Spectre of the Gun/Day of the Dove: Disc #31 (1968) [LV 60040-111] - DotD

Recent watch list (blu-ray's in Bold):

Bladerunner - Awesome movie. The remastered blu-ray is exceptional, one of the best restorations ever made for Blu-ray. Highly recommended.

2010 - Not as famous at 2001 (or culturaly significant), but still a solid sci-fi movie with some really good actors. Worth a watch if you've never seen it.

300 - So much testosterone in the movie my facial hair grew 1/2 an inch while watching this.

XXX - I was on vacation in Prague a week ago. It was fun seeing the sites that I had visited.

Rambo - Violently entertaining. If you like body parts exploding, this movie is for you.

The Lunchbox - Very entertaining foreign film. Recommend a rental.

Star Trek #119: Savage/All Our Yesterdays: Disc #39 [LV 60040-119] - The Savage Curtain

Star Trek #117: The Lights of Zetar/Requiem for Methuselah: Disc #37 [LV 60040-117] - RfM

The Grand Budapest Hotel - Another Wes Anderson masterpeice. The visuals and dialog are truly unique. Highly recommended.

Star Trek #119: The Savage Curtain/All Our Yesterdays: Disc #39 [LV 60040-119] - AOY

Star Trek #120: Turnabout Intruder: Disc #40 [LV 60040-120] - Wow, so we finished the Star Trek TOS series. That was fun. I had never seen the original series before.

300: Rise of an Empire - 2 hours of mindless ultraviolent fun. It gets a little slow in the middle where they try to introduce a little story, but the action is good.

Star Trek I: The Motion Picture (1979) [LV 8858] - A little slow but nice to see the old crew back.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) [LV1180-WS] - Probably one of the better star trek movies (if not the best).
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Big budget action adventur. It was ok, but the story was a little weak.

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) [LV 1621] - Not bad, but not as good as The Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) [LV 1797-2] - Very different take on Star Trek as most of it happens in present day (well the 80's).

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) [LV 32044] - The crew is up for another trek again.

Sabotage - What can I say, it's "ok", but I miss the old Arnold.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) (Uncut) [LV32301-WS] - The old crew on their last outing.

Noah - The old crew's last outing.

For Your Eyes Only (1981) [ML101725] - I realy like James Bond and Moore was my favorite (I know, I'm in a minority).

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Rather good action adventure movie. Recommended watch.

Draft Day - It's been awhile since I have seen Kevin Costner as a lead in a good movie. If you like football then you'll like this movie, if not, it's still entertaining.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Terrible acting, great explossions,... what else is there to say.

Palo Alto - Didn't like this one. Teen angst in California. Not really a James Franco fan so maybe that tarnished it for me before I even sat down.

John Dies at the End - Directed by the guy who made the Phantasm movies as well as a personal favorite of mine, "Bubba Hotep." Unfortunately, it was not very entertaining. Rent Bubba Hotep instead.

Transformers: Age of Extinction - Basicaly a 2 hour 45 minute CGI demo reel and car commercial. It's definitely a good demo disk to demostrate the capabilities of your stereo. The story of course is non-existant and characters are terrible. It's exactly what you would expect from a Michael Bay movie (for good or bad).

Pompeii - Pretty good action movie. I think we all know how it ends....

Rio 2 - Hmmm, visually it was very nice but the story was rather weak. If you have kids, I'm sure they will enjoy it.

Star Trek VII: Generations (1994) [LV 32988-2WS] - Not the best outing of the new crew. Kind of let down in all honesty.

Third Person - I really like the movie Crash and this was done by the same director. However, the film's story line was pretty weak. Big name actors, but the plot fell short. This is at most a rental,... if that.

Star Trek VIII: First Contact (1996) [LV332433-WS] - So this is probably the best outing of the TNG cast in a movie. If your only going to watch one ST:TNG movie, this is the one you want.

Godzilla - Better than expected. Entertaining with a lot of big special effects.

The Fault in Our Stars - Ok, this was a complete surprise. Was expecting a mediocre "chick flick" but had a very nice surprise. This is really a great movie. The two characters, although young, do a great job. If you haven't seen this movie, go and rent it now. It is kind of a heart breaker though,...

Re: What have you been watching?

An update on my recent watch list (blu-ray's in Bold):

Only Lovers Left Alive - Very unique take on vampires. Good acting as well. I would definitely recommend a watch.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) - Decided to do a rewatch.

Edge of Tomorrow - Pretty good scifi movie. Kind of Groundhog Day meets Aliens. Not a big Tom Cruise fan but it was a good watch, I recommend a viewing.

X-Men: Days of Future Past - Actually pretty good. I thought it was one of the better X-men movies thus far.

Lortd of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) - Awesome as always.

Hercules - Mediocre at best. Maybe worth a rental if you like action movies set in ancient settings.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - Big name actors, accomplished director... sloppy script and boring movie. Unfortunately, this was a pretty big let down when compared to the original Sin City.

Expendables 3 - Entertaining but unfortunately significantly worse than the 2nd installment.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - Finishing up the trilogy. Always a good watch.

Maleficent - Very good movie. Interesting take on the classic. Recommend a watch.

Begin Again - Pretty fun watch.

Jewel of the Nile, The (1985) [1491-85] - Not as good as the original but still a good 80's movie. If you liked "Romancing the Stone," then you definitely want to watch this.

22 Jump Street - I was not a huge of the first one and this was even less entertaining. Maybe worth a rental but definitely not a buy.

Snowpiercer - Interesting movie with an "independent" feel. Definitely worth a watch if you like sci-fi.

Scrooged (1988) [LV32054] - A good Holiday movie with Bill Murray.

Chef - This was actually quite entertaining. I recommend a watch.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Very good sci-fi movie. It also has a great soundtrack.

Die Hard (1988) [8905-85] - Is there really a better "Christmas movie"?

The November Man - Pierce Brosnan returns as a spy. Not bad, but just watch James Bond instead.

Game, The (1997) [ID4260PG] - Interesting movie with Micheal Douglas. Recommend a watch.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - I think this sequal was better than the original reboot of the series a few years ago. If your a fan of the original movies, it's worth a watch for the "re-imagining".

Star Trek #112: For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky/The Tholian Web: Disc #32 (1968) [LV 60040-112] - This was the last disk that I needed in the ST:TOS laserdisc series. I finnaly got a "non-broken" disc for christmas and finished up the series.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - Very entertaining. Certainly no Lord of the Rings, but still worth a viewing.

Joe - Another Nicholas Cage dud. Oh well.

Lone Survivor - Good Mark Wahlberg military movie.

Magic in the Moonlight - Cute Woody Allen movie.

Love is Strange - Good acting.

The Maze Runner - Not a big fan of the "young-adult" genre of films but this one was somewhat entertaining. Worth a rent.

Transcendence - An "ok" scifi movie with Johnny Depp.

The Equalizer - Good vigilante movie with Denzel Washington.

Beastly - The SO wanted to see this. I'm sure it's very entertaining if you are a 14 year old girl. Otherwise I would skip this one.

Most recent watch list (Blu-ray's in Bold):

Boyhood - Intersting movie that was shot over the course of 12 years. Unique in watching the actors grow up and grow old. Recommend a watch.

Magic Mike - My significant other claims that this may have been the best movie she's ever seen. I thought it was pretty mediocre at best. Can't imagine what the cause of our varying opinions may be.

Fury - This was a great movie. I would highly recommend it to anybody. Probably one of Brad Pitt's best performances in many years.

Lucy - Relatively short but entertaining action flick. Definitely worth a rental.

The Interview - So rented this to see what all the "hoopla" was about. Well, it's a pretty aweful movie. Other than a few semi-funny cameos it was pretty boring. I would skip.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Extended Edition) - If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this is a must see. I liked the small additions they put into the EE vs the theatrical cut. The movie is quite different than the book (even more so than LotR was) but it is still an entertaining adventure. Highly recommend.

Angels and Demons - Very enjoyable Tom Hanks movie. I enjoyed much more than the first in the series.

Labyrinth - Went to see this at a local theater showing. Awesome 80's Jim Henson vibe.

Nightcrawler - Weird movie. I didn't enjoy it so much as you just absolutely come to hate the protagonist.

The Grand Budapest Hotel - Rewatched this gem. Highly recommended especially if you like Wes Anderson movies.

Clash of the Titans - Big budget action and adventure. Mindless fun.

Malificent - Fairly good remake of the original.

Birdman - I wasn't so impressed. The media and critics hyped this one up a little too much. I thought it was "ok".

Wrath of the Titans - Same as the first.

John Wick- It's been awhile since Reeves has made a good movie. I thought this was enjoyable.

Hercules - More mindless fun.

Tron Legacy - This is the movie you need to demo your home theater capabilities.

Interstellar - This was really great. Highly recommend it to anybody who has not seen yet. It has a great 2001: A Space Odyssey vibe.

Dracula Untold - So so take on the classic Dracula tail.

Foxcatcher - Pretty weird movie. Worth a watch.

Whiplash - Excellent, highly recommended.

Starship Troopers (1997) [71716] - Big budget late 90's fun.

Dick Tracy (1990) [1066 AS] - A lot of big name actors in this sytlized action movie.

The Theory of Everything - Interesting biopic on Steven Hawking. Focused on his early life, not physics.

Exodus: Gods and Kings - I really like Ridely Scott films, this was "ok" at best.

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) [LV 1376-WS] - We did a wonderful 3 day viewing of the classic Indiana Jones Trilogy. Yes, I am going to ignore the 4th one! Such a great 80's classic that defined cinima of that decade. If there is somebody out there who actually has not seen these movies go rent them. They are wonderful.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) [LV 1643-2WS] - see above.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) [LV 31859-2L] - see above.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - If you are a Tolken fan then this is a must see. The Hobbit trilogy is no where near as good as the Lord of the Rings, but still is fun watch.

The Imitation Game - Excellent movie. Highly recommend this historical drama especially if you are a World War 2 buff.

Mr. Turner - Interesting period peice about the famous painter. Worth a watch.

Dumb & Dumber (1994) [ID3952LI] - Not as funny as it's hyped up to be. IMHO.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - Really not my cup of tea. If you liked the previous Huger Games movies you'll want to see it, but I am personnaly not a fan.

Into the Woods - Not a huge fan of musicals and did not really like this one either. Also, even though Johnny Depp gets top billing, he is in the movie for about 5 minutes.

Mad Max (1979) [ID2594OR] - The classic that started it all. Would recommend a viewing.

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) [13346] - Even better than the first in my opinion.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) [13345] - Last of the original trilogy. I recommend watching all 3 back to back.

A Walk Among the Tombstones - Entertaing drama about killers, drugs, and kidnappers.

The Immigrant - Rather good period peice. Would recommend a watch.

Leviathan - I didn't really enjoy this movie. I don't mind foreign films but I just found it boring.

Spy Hard (1996) [8289 AS] - Not one of Leslie Nelson's best, but still worth a one time watch... maybe.

Inherent Vice - Too drawn out and boring. Didn't like it too much.

Billy Crystal: A Comic's Line (1984) [LV2329] - Short pseudo-stand-up comedy. If you are a Billy Crystal fan, then I would recommend it.

Red Army - Excellent documentary on the Russian ice hockey program. Highly recommend a watch.

Re: What have you been watching?

Post by admin »

Bold listings are Blu-ray. Otherwise laserdisc.

Mortdecai - Hmmm,.. so so. I guess it's worth a rental.

Man with the Golden Gun, The (1974) [ML101419] - With the passing of Christopher Lee we figured we watch this classic.

Dragonslayer (1981) [LV 1367-WS] - If you are into cheezy 80's fantasy films then it's recommended.

Taken 3 - Ok but, but each one has been worse then the one before. This is no exception.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 - Absolutely terrible. Would not recommend.

Fabulous Baker Boys, The (1989) [ID7353IV] - Great film. Highly recommended.

Rich Hill - If you like documentaries about social issues, you will like this. Recommended.

Slap Shot (1977) [16004] - Hilarious Paul Newman film from the 70's. Highly recommended.

2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984) [ML101661] - Follow up to the classic 2001. Certainly not as good as 2001, but still a pretty good movie. If you like scifi, you should check it out.

Circuit Breaker (1996) [ID3920NH] - Terrible made for TV scifi movie that looks like it was made in the early 70's with a cheap budget. Skip unless you like terrible scifi.

Living Daylights, The (1987) [5277-80] - Classic bond. Definitely worth a watch.

Licence to Kill (1989) [4755-80] - Continuing the series. I would have liked some more movies with Dalton to see if he could get in the groove of things. Oh well.

Black Sea - Ok suspense movie but I found a lot of the drama really unrealistic and pushed. Worth a rental but not a buy, IMHO.

Moonraker (1979) [ML101710] - Despite what everybody else says Roger Moore was my favorite.

Jupiter Ascending - Big on special effects, low on story. Visually it's an interesting movie but better to avoid the story.

Super 8 - Very enterataining movie. Highly recommend.

The Giver - Jeff Bridges is pretty much the only redeeming quality of this movie.

Black or White - Very good movie with Kevin Costner. Recommend a watch.

Silverado (1985) [10426] - I had never seen this old movie. Some very big names and good acting. Highly recommend a watch.

American Sniper - Good movie. Recommended.

Married To The Mob (1988) [ID6287OR] - Pretty horrendous. Skip this one.

Masters of the Universe (1987) [37073] - Ultimate 80's cheeziness. Love it!

Blackhat - Not bad suspense hacker movie.

Seventh Son - Another Jeff Bridges movie. I have to admit it wasn't great but I enjoy fantasy films so if you do as well, I would recommend a watch.

Timbuktu - Subtitled. I didn't find it to be that great but I'm sure it won some awards.

Chappie - Was expecting a little more after District 9, but still an entertaining watch.

Top Gun (1986) [LV 1692-WS] - I feel a need, a need for speed.

While We're Young - Mediocre at best. Not recommended.

The Wrecking Crew - Great documentary about the musicians that you heard on some of the biggest release of the 60's and 70's.

The Gambler - Mediocre movie with Mark Wahlberg.

Dark Age (1987) [902186] - Apparently Quentin Tarantino is a big fan of this movie. It's a pretty cheezy Australian movie about a giant killer crocodile.

Kingsman: The Secret Service - Really liked this one. I thought it was a good mix of action and humor. Definitely recommend a watch.

Fifty Shades of Grey - Not sure what all the fuss was about. Seemed like a boring softcore porn movie to me.

McFarland, USA - Pretty good Kevin Costner pick. A Disney "feel good" film.

Excalibur (1981) [22018 A/B] - Quite a unique and memorable movie from the early 80's. I would recommend a watch.

Money Pit, The (1986) [40387] - Classic comedy with Tom Hanks. Highly recommended.

Focus - Ok Will Smith con artist movie.

Rocky IV (1985) [ML102084] - Classic 80's film. Definitely recommend a watch.

Run All Night - So so action movie. Liam Neeson seems to have shifted in doing tons of these action movies of late.

Blue Thunder (1983) [79336] - 80's movie about high tech helicopter used to fight crime.

Get Hard - Rather cheezy Wil Ferral movie. This guys makes the same movie over and over again...

F/X (1986) [ID2942OR] - 80's flick about special F/X guy hired by the police, of course it all goes wrong.

FX2: The Deadly Art of Illusion (1991) [ID8394OR] - More of the same.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Very good scifi movie. If you haven't seen it yet, go check it out. Great soundtrack as well.

A Most Wanted Man - I think this was the last film with Philip Seymour Hoffman before his death. It's ok.

Deal of the Century (1983) [11339] - Early 80's comedy with Chevy Chase, Sigourney Weaver, and Gregory Hines.

Mortal Kombat: Special Edition (1995) [ID3021LI] - Super cheezy 90's video game movie.

Stand Up Guys - Entertaining crime comedy with some big name actors.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Good action film but not as good as the previous Avengers movie.

Her Alibi (1989) [11835] - Fun 80's romantic comedy.

Going Clear - Entertaining documentary about the whacky world of scientology.

Ex Machina - Cool independent film about AI.

Highlander: 10th Anniversary (1986) (Uncut) [LV25895] - Classic 80's action flick with a great soundtrack by Queen.

Quest, The (1996) [42901] - Quintessential Van Damme action movie. Pretty terrible.

Mad Max: Fury Road - I really liked this re-imagining of the original. Read this hilarious review: http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.c ... _hell_yeah

Furious 7 - Entertaining but also somewhat sad to watch due to Paul Walker's death. Still recommended, especially if you are a fan of the series.

Back to the Future Part II (1989) [40965]

Cinderella - Nice Disney family movie. Recommended.

Maggie - It was interesting to see Schwarzenegger in this kind of role. Worth a watch.

Last Knights - So so action flick with Morgan Freeman and Clive Owen.

Re: What have you been watching?

Post by admin »

Most recent watch list (links are laserdisc, the others blu-ray):

Creed - I was pleasantly surprised with this one considering how bad the previous Rocky movie was.

Casablanca #73A (1942) [CC1287L] - A great classic that everybody should watch at least once.

The Hateful Eight - If you like Tarantino movies you definitely should watch this.

Victor Frankenstein - A mediocre re-imagining of the story.

The Revenant - A very good movie, definitely recommended.

Guardians of the Galaxy - A very fun space-romp.

The Big Short - An interesting movie about the housing bubble of the 2000's.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens - Ah,... love star wars, I was not super-impressed with the story. Do we really need a 3rd Death Star?

The Immortals - Fun movie, think 300.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 - Not a fan of this movie series, or this movie. I would skip it.

The Pricness Bride - A great classic that all should see.

Spectre - One of the better Bonds in my opinion.

Commando (1985) [1484-80] - Classic 80's Schwarzenegger... what more can anybody want?

Jane Got a Gun - So so movie with Natalie Portman.

Gods of Egypt - Terrible plot, not so great special effects... but I actually liked it and thought it was a lot of fun.

Pawn Sacrifice - The story of chess legend Bobby Fischer. I wasn't too impressed.

Zoolander 2 - A huge let down from the original. This one is a skip.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) [70226] - Classic comedy with Richard Prior and Gene Wilder. Some of their best work. Highly recommended.

The Avengers - Big budget fun action film.

Deadpool - I was impressed with this one. Still big budget fluff, but rather fun.

Race - A Jesse Owens biopic. Good if you like history.

The Brothers Grimsby - Not very funny comedy. Probably a skip.

Clash of the Titans - Cheesy remake of the original. Still kind of fun.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 - Another big sequel let down. Nothing really funny and most of the jokes are just recycled from the first movie (which was great).

Eddie the Eagle - I really like this "never give up" movies. I recommend it.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - A classic, if you have never seen this, drop what you are doing and watch this right this minute.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - I really enjoyed this sequel. Perhaps my favorite of the series.

Midnight Special - Interesting supernatural thriller. I would recommend it.

Eye in the Sky - A interesting political commentary on the use of drones and collateral damage.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - An ok sequel. I whish wonder women was given more screen time.

Green Room - This movie had really good reviews but for some reason I didn't like it. Maybe seeing Captain Picard as a racist just doesn't do it for me.

Elvis and Nixon - This was an interesting historical film. I would recommend it.

High-Rise - Didn't get this one at all and I like weird movies.

Ratchet & Clank - I've played the games, felt the movie was not all that great unfortunately.

The Huntsman: Winter's War - A rather poor sequel,... not that the first one was that good.

The Neon Demon - I really like the director. If you liked the movie Drive then definitely check this out.

Captain America: Civil War - Pretty good sequal.

A Hologram for the King - Almost everything with Tom Hanks is good and this was an interesting film. I would recommend a viewing.

Born to Be Blue - A Chet Baker biopic. If you like jazz, then check this out.

The Jungle Book - Fairly good modern take on the Disney classic.

The Lobster - This movie had great reviews but I did not enjoy it at all. I guess it's too "artsy" for me.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) [1587 CS] - Wonderful classic. Definitely worth a watch if you have never seen it.

Warcraft - So so action movie.

Star Trek Beyond - I know it under-performed at the box office but I thought it was a pretty good sci-fi action movie.

Innocent Man, An (1989) [910 AS] - A late 80's Tom Selleck movie... what else is there to say.

The Witch - I really liked this movie. Great horror and suspense.

X-Men: Apocalypse - Another big budget action movie. If you like the series, then definitely worth a watch.

Golden Child, The (1986) [LV1930] - Classic Eddie Murphy.

Independence Day: Resurgence - Another terrible sequal. Skip.

Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) [ID6119IV] - A pretty good action sequel to the first Rambo. I recommend a watch.

Tango & Cash (1989) [11951] - Another 80's Stallone action movie. Mindless but fun.

The Legend of Tarzan - I wasn't that impressed but if you want to see a "re-imagining" of Tarzan, check it out.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) [70226] - see my comments above about this one.

Swiss Army Man - I really enjoyed this one. Very strange and unusual.

Central Intelligence - Mediocre action comedy with the Rock.

10 Cloverfield Lane - This one is very good. John Goodman gives a great performance.

Finding Dory - Not very impressed with this sequel.

Suicide Squad - A massive let down. Great characters and a horrendous story that makes you not care about any of them.

Captain Fantastic - Viggo Mortensen is really good in this one. Recommended.

Kubo and the Two Strings - A pretty good animated film.

The Nice Guys - Pretty good LA private eye story.

Alice Through the Looking Glass - Absolute garbage.

Inferno - So so sequel. The last one in the series was better.

Inside Out - Fun animated film.

The Accountant - Really good Ben Affleck movie. I would recommended.

Sully - Great story with Tom Hanks. And it's based on a true story.

The Magnificent Seven - Good western with an all star cast.

Hacksaw Ridge - Great WWII biopic. I would recommended.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back - Underwhelming installment in the series.

Masterminds - Had some funny moments but overall was a dud.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Probably the favorite in the series. I highly recommend it.

Passengers - I really like the design and styling of this futuristic movie.

War Dogs - Entertaining comedy based (very lousy) on real world events.

Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) [LV32219-WS] - Fun Eddie Murphy movie (although the worst of the 3).

Beverly Hills Cop (1984) [LV 1134-WS] - Classic Eddie Murphy. Definitely worth a watch.

Hell or High Water - Very good acting by both Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges. Recommended.

Last Boy Scout, The (1991) [12217] - Cheesy early 90's crime/action movie with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans.

Have upgraded my HT system this summer to UHD3840 and 7.2.4 from 5.2, with a new Oppo '203 DP, Epson '5040UB projector, Marantz '7704 pre/pro/tuner, Revel C208 CC speaker, additional amp channels from an Outlaw 7100 poweramp, and three new pairs of surround/ceiling speakers (ELAC B6s). Will be using the First Watt J2s to drive front-L/Rs, c-j multichannel MET150 to drive Revel center and some surround/ceiling speakers, and the Outlaw to drive the rest.

UHD/HDR movies look even better than their excellent-looking Blu-rays, and the sound is indeed more immersive, surrounding, and enjoyable with Atmos and DTS:X. The regular 5-, 6-, and 7-channel soundtracks sound better than before because the Marantz preamp treats them to Dolby's or DTS's additional processing to use the 2 additional surround and 4 ceiling speakers.

UHDs I have:
Accountant, The
Allied
Apollo 13
Arrival
Battleship
Bourne (4) Legacy, The
Bridge On the River Kwai, The
Close Encounters of the Third Kind…40th Anniv.
DaVinci Code, The
Deepwater Horizon
E. T., The Extraterrestrial
ex machina
Expendables, The
Expendables 2, The
Few Good Men, A
Hacksaw Ridge
Independence Day
Interstellar
Jack Reacher--Never Go Back
John Wick
John Wick Ch. 2
Kong Skull Island
Leon the Professional
Magnificent Seven, The
Martian, The
Oblivion
Passengers
Planet of the Apes, Rise of (2011)
Planet of the Apes, Dawn of (2014)
Planet of the Apes, War for (2017)--I REALLY enjoiy this 'rebooting' of the 'Apes' stories
RED
RED 2
Risen
Salt
San Andreas--Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, and Alexandra Daddario are a trio of GREAT actors in this one!
Secret Life of Pets, The
Serenity
Sicario
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Sully
Terminator 2--Judgment Day--'on the way'
Terminator Genisys..................".........
Unforgiven
Wonder Woman
Zero Dark Thirty

On the way are 'Atomic Blonde' (UHD) and 'Wind River' (Blu-ray)

I'm as impressed with the HRD aspect of the images as I am with the higher rez of the psuedo-4K images! And both are excellent.

Re: What have you been watching?

I've started to look at doing an upgrade to my home theater system in the near future. What has kept me away has been the lack of affordable 4K projectors. I understand that they are releasing some new 4K projector models in the next few months.

Although the Epson 5400UB is not "full 4K" I hear that it's pixel shifting technology is very good. I'm using the 1080p Epson 4700UB but I'm itching to go full 4K. When I do this I also plan to upgrade the receiver and get some dedicated amps. Maybe go beyond 7.1 with some additional speakers and start utilizing the benefits of Atmos.

Congrats on the setup and enjoy!

Watch list from the previous year or so. I also watched some good series on "TV" that are not listed. I recommend The Game of Thrones, The Expanse, Star Trek Discovery, and Kobra Kai (on youtube).

Moana - Good kids flick with some catchy toons.

Assassin's Creed - I am a fan of (some of) the games but the movie was dissapointing. They should have just followed the plot of the first game.

The Edge of Seventeen - Ok movie. Rental at best.

La La Land - Entertaining musical with good acting.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - A must see if you are a star wars fan.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - Not as good as the Harry Potter movies but still entertaining.

Underworld: Blood Wars - The series just gets worse and worse.

Maleficent - Very good fantasy and reimagining of the story.

Lion - A good movie on "never give up your dream."

Bleed for this - A more modern day "Rocky". A good watch.

Other People's Money (1991) [12223] - I really like this Danny Devito flick. Very under-rated.

Nocturnal Animals - Pretty good contemporary peice.

Pretty Woman (1990) [1027 AS] - The Julia Robert's classic that started it all. Check it out if you haven't.

Imperium - Hmmm, wasn't so impressed by this movie. Harry Potter pretending to be a white supremisist.

The Founder - Interesting story of the founding of McDonalds. I don't know how much of it is true but definitely an interesting watch.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back - The classic and possibly the best in the entire Star Wars saga.

John Wick: Chapter 2 - Very good movie. If you liked the first, then check this one out.

Purple Rose of Cairo, The (1985) [VL5068] - This was my first time watching this modern classic. I didn't think the acting was very good...

Logan - An interesting take on the X-men series. Very different than all the rest. Definitely recommend a viewing.

Arrival - Very good sci-fi movie. Check out the new Blade Runner movie as it's by the same director.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage - Huge let down. Do yourself a favor and just watch the first XXX movie.

T2 Trainspotting - Wasn't a big fan of the first one and this was worse than that. Sorry.

The Great Wall - I don't know how much money they paid Damon to be in this movie but you could tell it was some weird deal with Chinese funding. It was horrible.

Life - Really good take on modern horror. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

The Finest Hours - I thought this was an ok, but rather foregetable movie.

Split - The first good M. Night Shyamalan movie in a long time. Hopefully he keeps up the streak.

The Fate of the Furious - Good action movie. It's hard to rate where it falls in the 17 other movies in the series now. Still a fun watch if simply more of the same.

Blood Father - Mel Gibson trying to make a comeback to mainstream hollywood. Not bad but nothing special either.

Generation Iron - Documentary about modern day body building. A good watch if you are interested in the sport.

Vacation - Absolutely terrible,... nothing more to say about it.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - I thought this was pretty entertaining. I would recommend it.

Kong: Skull Island - Lots of hype but I thought it was "ok" at best.

Beauty and the Beast - I really liked this one. Good for adults and kids.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - Finished up the original Star Wars trilogy. A must if you are one of the 3 people on earth who haven't seen Star Wars.

Alien: Covenant - A little better than the last one, but not by much.

Ghost in the Shell - Mediocre sci-fi movie. I was really hoping for more.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - One of my most favorite recent movies. Entertaining and funny. Check it out.

Despicable Me - Fun animated comedy.

Bladerunner - The classic and one of my all time favorites. The sequel is coming out so I wanted to do a rewatch of the original before seeing the new movie.

Despicable Me 2 - Pretty much inline with the original.

Blade Runner 2049 (theater) - I thought this was amazing. It's long, slow, beutiful... but I never found it boring. I really like how they continued the story. Great director. Very good soundtrack.

Don't Think Twice - Kind of boring. Skip.

Mr. Destiny (1990) [1126 AS] - I like this cheezy movie from 30 years ago. Just fun and makes you appreciate what you have.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV - Basically an 1.5 hours game trailer. Storry was forgetable.

Ghostbusters (1984) [30413] - The classic. Fun movie, definitely worth a watch if you haven't yet.

Ghostbusters 2 (1989) [50166] - Not as good as the original but still funny and worth a watch.

Mr. Baseball (1992) [41461] - I think this is one of Tom Selleck's best movies. It's fun and entertaining... what else is there to say.

The Dark Tower - I havne't read the series by Stephen King but I can't imagine that this single movie does justice to his very popular series. Rather forgettable.

Brooklyn Castle - Very good documentary about a leading chess program at a regular school in NYC.

Wonder Woman - My SO loves this movie. I think it's very good and one of the better super hero movies of late.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - I am a huge 5th Element fan so I had very high hopes. Unfortunately, the chemistry between the two main actors was so horrible it ruined the entire movie. Very disappointed.

Baby Driver - Entertaining crime movie. I would recommend it.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Good spiderman reboot. I liked it more than the Tobey Maguire ones.

Transformers: The Last Knight - I'm not even going to comment,... it's more robots fighting.

Mr. Holmes - I thought this was rather boring in all honesty.

Killer Joe - Interesting movie and I would recommend a watch. A little disturbing.

War for the Planet of the Apes - Mediocre sequel. If you have been watching the new series then I would recommend it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - Nice to see the old cast back (even if not for long).

Arthur Christmas - A good animated movie for the holidays.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle - I am a really big fan of the first movie. There were certainly some funny moments but overall I don't think it had the charm of the first movie in the series. I would still recommend a watch.

Dunkirk - If you are a Nolan fan you should definitely check this out. I don't think it was as good as his other movies.

It - Good horror flick. Looking forward to the 2nd part.

American Made - Good movie with Tom Cruise. Worth a watch.

Blade Runner 2049 - The original Blade Runner is one of my all time favorites. This was exceptionally good. I would highly recommend it.

Logan Lucky - Funny heist film.

Despicable Me 3 - Much like the two others in the series. Good for kids.

Only the Brave - Entertaining movie based on the true events of a firefighter company.

Atomic Blonde - Pretty good espoinage/action flick set in the 80's.

Safety Not Guaranteed - "Ok" film with some comedy mixed in.

Get Out - Interesting take on a psychological thriller.

Darkest Hour - Gary Oldman does an incredible job playing this historic character. Would recommend.

Thor: Ragnarok - This one really threw me. It funny, entertaining, and has a great soundtrack. However, the "feel" of the movie is so different than the previous films. Still very enjoyable,... but different.

Justice League - Big superhero movie. It was entertaining but not one of the best.

The Shape of Water - Del Toro gives us another monster movie. It was entertaining and I would recommend a watch.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Great fun, great music,... highly recommended.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - Better than what I expected. I haven't seen the original Jumanji movies to compare.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Great movie. Highly recommend it.

Innocent Man, An (1989) [910 AS] - early 90's Tom Selleck flick.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - Heard about this through the "Oscar buzz". Good movie.

I, Tonya - Not sure how much of this biopic was true vs fantasy, but it was entertaining.

Wonder Women - Fun movie.

The Greatest Showman - If you like musicals you will probably enjoy this. I thought it was "ok" at best.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) [70226] - Classic comedy with Wilder and Prior. Lots of the funny in this one. Highly recommend it.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi - I enjoyed it. There was a lot more "nastalgia" scenes than the previous films. Perhaps that is why I liked it.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure - Pretty terrible. The first movie was interesting but it really went downhill from there.

Wonder - Very good heartfelt flick about a young boy with a facial deformity.

The Post - Good Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep film.

Phantom Thread - I didn't particulary like this film. Daniel Day-Lewis did put in a good performance.

Lady Bird - Kind of weird teenage angst film.

Geostorm - Some good CGI, otherwise a crazy unrealistic doomsday story.

Black Panther - A pretty good addition to the franchise.

Tomb Raider - Another reboot. Nothing special but entertaining.

Pacific Rim Uprising - Like the first one but worse. But who cares, it's giant robots fighting.

Ready Player One - Heavy on the nastalgia. A pretty good showing from Spielberg.

Isle of Dogs - If you are a fan of Wes Anderson then you definitely need to see this one. Not as good as The Grand Budapest Hotel, but still entertaining.

Annihilation - Pretty cool scifi horror movie. I would recommend a watch.

Tale of Tales - Unique foreign film with some big name actors. Rather interesting piece with multiple stories weaved together.

Rampage - Crazy CGI movie with the Rock. What else is there to say?

Dead Pool 2 - Rather good sequel. Lighthearted superhero action pic.

Red Sparrow - Probably one of the better Jennifer Lawrence movies of late.

First Reformed - Rather boring Ethan Hawke film. I would skip.

Avengers: Infinity War - Super big budget movie with an all star cast. If you like the series then a must watch.

Re: What have you been watching?

Most recent watch list:

Skyfall - One of the best Bond movies in my opinion.

Love, Simon - coming of age movie about a gay teen.

Animal Kingdom - pretty forgettable crime drama.

Spectre - Another really great addition to the James Bond franchise.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Perhaps the best Marvel movie release yet.

Live and Let Die *DEFECTIVE* (1973) [ML101418] - pretty cheezy 007.

The Broken - interesting horror/thriller movie.

Man with the Golden Gun, The (1974) [ML101419] - we see Roger Moore improve the bond series with this one.

A Quiet Place - I thought this was an interesting take on the alien/horror genre.

Spy Who Loved Me, The (1977) [ML101743] - corny but entertaining James Bond.

A Single Man - was not a huge fan of this film. Kind of slow and boring.

Moonraker (1979) [ML101710] - Completely outragous but entertaining "James Bond goes to space."

Nine - very disappointed in the movie full of big-name talent. Ultimately, it was just boring.

Solo: A Star Wars Story - I thought that this was one of the better additions to the Star Wars universe of late.

Wonder Woman - Fun superhero action movie.

Ocean's 8 - just watch Ocean's 11, trust me.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - another big-budget action movie. It was entertaining and recommended if you are a Jurassic Park fan.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again - I thought the first one was better, but still entertaining with some good songs.

Ant-Man and the Wasp - Another Marvel superhero flick. Entertaining and I like Paul Rudd.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) [70226] - a funny movie with Gene Wilder and Richard Prior.

Skyscraper - a cheezy action movie with the Rock.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - an interesting movie that has a unique "quirkiness" about it.

For Your Eyes Only (1981) [ML101725] - James Moore as James bond returns again.

Angels and Demons - this has been my favorite of the series. I highly recommend it.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout - good Tom Cruise movie.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 - the gang returns again. Good movie with another outstanding soundtrack.

Murder on the Orient Express - Lots of big-name actors but for some reason it felt "flat." Still worth a watch if you are a fan of the classic book.

Dragonheart (1996) [42973] - super cheezy movie with one of the best soundtracks ever written.

Venom - another "superhero" movie but it didn't impress too much.

Borg vs McEnroe - heavily "altered" retelling of sports history. It was ok.

Crazy Rich Asians - I know lots of people liked this but it really didn't do it for me.

The Meg - Bad "B" movie with a big budget.

Mandy - Really really weird movie.

The Predator - Totally milked franchise at this point. Just watch the original with Arnold.

Tully - an interesting movie with a twist at the end.

The House with a Clock in its Walls - too over-the-top for me. Maybe better for kids.

Johnny English Strikes Again - funny spy spoof. I think this is the 3rd one in the series.

Footloose (1984) [LV 1589] - the classic with Kevin Bacon.

Bohemian Rhapsody - I really like Queen's music so I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, the story or the music.

First Man - a definite watch if you are a space buff.

Creed II - another rocky movie. I've lost count at this point but I liked the ones from the 70's/80's more.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - a must-watch for fans of the Harry Potter universe.

A Star Is Born - I thought that this was "ok" at best. Not sure what all the buzz was about.

Aquaman - pretty good superhero movie. Lots of visual effects but I thought they did a good job with all the underwater scenery.

The Mule - good movie with a very aging Clint Eastwood.

Green Book - great movie. Highly recommend.

Glass - the finisher to the trilogy. I'm happy to see the director making some good movies again.

Holmes & Watson - My god, one of the worst movies ever. And that's coming from somebody who thought Step Brothers was good.

Bumblebee - Considering how bad the series has been, this was actually much better than expected. Probably the best "transformers movie" thus far.

Destination Wedding -

Mortal Engines -

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part -

Replicas -

Colette -

Supercop: Special Edition #327 (1992) [CC1479L] -

The Equalizer 2 -

Her Alibi (1989) [11835] -

Hot Shots! (1991) [1930-80] -

A Simple Favor - An interesting psychological thriller.

The Spy Who Dumped Me - Just terrible. Painful to watch.

They Shall Not Grow Old - Any fan of history should see this documentary by Peter Jackson. The restored footage is amazing.

Captain Marvel - Another "so so" addition to the Marvel universe.

Shazam - Kind of ok, "made for kids" superhero movie.

Fighting with My Family - Fairly entertaining wrestling movie.

Hotel Mumbai - Very entertaining movie based on real-life terrorist attacks in India.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote - I can't believe this movie took 20+ year to make. It was kind of a let down in all honesty and I like the director's previous movies.

Tolkien - Interesting biopic of Tolkien's early life which shaped many of the themes in his later books.

Side by Side - Keanu Reeves narrated a documentary about digital vs celluloid film making. Interesting watch if you like the technical side of movie-making.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - Fun movie for the (big) kids.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Continuation of the saga.

The Princess Bride - One of my all-time favorite childhood movies. Highly recommended.

Maleficent - a Nice reimagining of the Disney classic.

Hellboy - Pretty terrible reboot of the series.

Bladerunner 2049 - One of the best movies of the last decade. The visual and sound design of this movie is simply amazing.

Men in Black: International - Pretty bad. The original with Will Smith was much better.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - Entertaining but more of the same,... shooting, killing, shooting...

Alita: Battle Angel - Heavy CGI based film. It was so so but I wonder if they will continue the story?

Brightburn - An interesting "anti-superman" story.

Spider-Man: Far from Home - I thought it was actually ok. More of the same big superhero franchise but entertaining nonetheless.

Rocketman - Slightly disappointed with this one. An Elton John biopic.

Searching - Good psychological thriller. Really kept me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend a watch.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix - Somewhat disappointing superhero movie.

Avengers: Endgame - The "big finale",... kind of. If you been watching the series, it's kind of a must-see.

Yesterday - Good Danny Boyle film about an alternative universe where the Beatles never existed.

Die Hard (1988) [8905-85] - Classic Christmas movie. Highly recommended.

Love Actually - Another Holiday must watch. Great cast. If you have never seen this movie I highly recommend it.
