PV12 with teflon

Post by kellyh »

I'm new to the forum, but have enjoyed reading from other CJ users here. I doesn't seem like too many have opted for the teflon upgrade with their PV12, which I did spring for about a year ago. I'm happy to share my experience, which was delightful overall. I've also had a few unrelated issues - dirty volume pot, and line stage tubes going bad. I have the phono version which seems to have a ton of gain, barely hit 8 o'clock for solid listening levels with my MC225 amp.

kellyh,
Welcome to the site. Great to have you. I also have a PV12. Can you tell me a little more about the teflon upgrade? What improvements in sound did you notice? Thanks.

I would say faster & livelier would describe it, quite a large difference really. Not exactly "brighter" Still has under-lying warmth at the same time. As others have noted, things keep improving for several months. CJ never said anything about "burn-in" time to me, but I think no doubt there was improvement for at least 4 or 5 months of listening, at maybe 10 hours per week.

I pretty much only listen to records. If I had to make a comparison, it would be like upgrading to a way more expensive stylus, and I already have a decent one (Rega Exact) It's a whole new sound signature, one I love!
