roberto wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:24 am NO, those screws are just holding the xformer to the chassis. The other four screws that are holding the xformer case. You can see the metal sheets along the transformer...and those are the ones that due the AC 60Hz, become loose.
Okay clear, thanks!

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for your reply.

You mean the ones that attach the transformer to the aluminum champagne colored chassis with the rubber grommets in between:

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier One b

Thigh the screws that is securing the case of the transformers...four big screws...this will reduce the vibration and the hum. This hum in not present at the speakers, right, just the xformer, right?
You ment the transformer of the EVO 2000 of course.

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier One b

If it goes away in an hour I would suspect it is related to temperature. Maybe as it expands with heat it dampens itself. Can you stop the humming by applying pressure to the transformer (with a non-conductive item for safety)? Yes that what I figured myself that there's some space between the fila...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier One b

My main transformer (Northlake C126-139) hums quite severly the first hour then it slowly fades away.
Any suggestions and/or causes?

Thanks in advance

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier One b

Extremely rare and very very nice MLAS, congrats mate! Although it's probably rare but when the Four came in 1984 and Fives in 1985 with more film caps and EL34 as ouputtubes, CJ decided to update the One to a One b to get in inline with the Four and Fives. The One b with its 150 Watts per channel ...

Conrad Johnson Premier One b

Hi CJ Lovers, Just acquired an amplifier I longed for quite some time the Conrad Johnson Premier One b. I bought it near Lake Geneva from a nice guy that had two of them. Was on vacation in the French Alps so I was near and had a chance now to pick it up nearby our campsite after having it watched f...

I have 2 C126-109 Northlake Engineering transformers that I need to identify. I'm told they were made for Conrad Johnson Premier One but the schematic shows the output transformer has 8 leads & the power transformer has 12 leads. The transformers that I have have 10 leads. Any help in identifyi...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Yeah, there is some time for the warm. I usually will turn it on and then go downstairs to drink something or make a snack. I also like to give my equipment some time to warm up as so much of it is tube based. Haha great contemplative way of addressing this issue. The EV20se pre-amp of mine also op...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Hi admin, Just finished with installing a AHP Klangmodul III, an audio optimized circuit breaker with a highquality old style 32A fuse. Now the tripping problems are over and yes the substituted circuitbreaker was a GFCI type indeed. The switch on delay implemented in the EV2000 is for the four 5751...

CJ Evolution set.jpeg Installed the EV2000 monsteramp in my rig. Set complete and it sounds astonishing good and gets better over time. After I became aware of the gargantuan powersupply that hurted my back seriously I reckoned I did not need my Krell the power the low-end of my Infinity's and I wa...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Do you or anybody else know the VA rating of the Northlake C126-154 powertransformer?
Googled it, asked Northlake themselves but No result yet.
Have an injured back, no kidding, from carrying the amp on my own. Very stupid and careless of course...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Just bought the CJ EVO 2000 near Le Mans France. It's so huge you just have to see it to get a idea of the scale of it. It's as big as a Levinson ML-3 and as heavy. I towed it around myself when I had to get it inside our vacation home so I do not have to drive it around our vacation adress when vis...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Thanks RJ. The RS-1B's were something of an attainable dream when they were getting on the secondhand-market for sane prices. Hard to drive properly but with a CJ on the mid/highs and a good SS on the basstowers heaven was there. Same was true for the IRS Beta's. IRS V was out of reach for me it was...

Re: CJ Evolution 2000 Amplifier Review

Just contacted Bill Thalmann (MUSIC TECHNOLOGY, INC., bill@musictechnology.com) a former CJ employee (you probably know ;) ) to ask him about the EVO2000. His immediate comment was: "Well, it’s very heavy :-) It is old enough that it could probably benefit from a thorough going-thru. There are ...
