What have you been watching?

Act of Valor (2012) on Blu-ray

Overall not bad, actually better than I thought it would be. I especially liked the part where the soldiers fire on the truck with the boat mounted miniguns!

Re: My Conrad Johnson Martlogan system

I like the back lighting through the monolith panels. What do you have in the rack on the right side of the TV?

Re: Hello from Costa Rica...and a ET-5 preamplifier.

Beyond the fact that CJ equipment sound so great is the excellent quality and service that is associated with these products. As I posted here http://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=14 when I had a tube go bad in my PV-12, the support that these quality products have are unparallele...

Re: Hello from Costa Rica.

I think you nailed it right on the head with the "neutrality" of CJ equipment. It really presents a "pure" sound that is simply pleasing to the ear. In today's world of modern (crappy) electronics when every fancy setting on that sony is "vivid", "rock", "concert hall",... it is nice to have a clean...

Re: Hello from Costa Rica...and a ET-5 preamplifier.

Welcome from Costa Rica!! Wow, since '82! You certainly have a great history of experience with CJ. The ET-5 looks awesome. If you have time maybe you can do a little formal review of it in the http://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/viewforum.php?f=10 "Preamp section" of the site? I'm using the PV-12 bu...

Re: Some of my CJ Stuff I have owned over the years

Wow that is a thing of beauty! I also use Martin Logan speakers (Vantages). What model are you using? Would love to see a full post of your entire setup and room. Maybe in the "Member Systems Gallery" group? Hint hint. :)

CJ Wallpaper Background for computers

As there are no official CJ computer wallpapers I figured I post some "artistic" photos of my CJ equipment.

Feel free to post any of your own.

The following two pictures are in 1900x1200 resolution but you can resize them to your appropriate screen resolution.

Tube went bad in my PV-12

So it looks like one of the tubes in my Conrad Johnson PV-12 is going bad. I noticed a slight audible "shhh" sound and I called up Conrad Johnson and spoke with "Ed". He suggested I try swapping the tubes to see if the sound changes as it could be a tube nearing the end of its life. Sure enough, swa...

Pioneer Elite CLD-97 Laserdisc player AC3 out mod

I am a big laserdisc fan and I completed an AC3 mod for my player this year. For those of you who do not know what laserdisc is, it's a video disc format that predated DVD. AC3 is essentially a Dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack that later players were able to output to a demodulator. I have made a comple...

DIY RCA interconnect cable (w/ instructions)

These are the instructions for DIY interconnect cables. I decided to make these as I simply could not find cables for my system that met my criteria in terms of cable quality, RCA interconnect style (I really wanted locking plugs), and visual style. Well that's not true.... I did find some cables bu...
