Re: Problem with my PV10B
We do have the PV10 schematics in our database so that may help identifying a signal path specifically to look at.

Re: Problem with my PV10B
First, welcome to CJO. Great to have you with us. Sorry you are having an issue with your PV10B. It must be doubly frustrating that you were hoping to get better sound out of new tubes only to have disaster strike. It sounds like you did a pretty good job with making sure the tube socket is not the ...

Cool. Let us know what you think of the PV15 when you have it all set up.mstrshikadance wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 11:40 pm That was fast. Managed to find a PV15 today. No phono, as you mentioned above. However, i can solve that another way.
Thanks!

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
Very interesting speaker design. As planar speaker user these models always intrigue me. I guess the question becomes, what do these offer that the top end martin logan or magnepan don't? There is a big jump in price going from low 5 figures to 6 figures. I would definitely love to get some listenin...

Welcome to CJO, great to have you with us.
Congrats on the PV10A. It's a great unit and a good starter into tube gear.
Enjoy the tunes!

I think CJ caps are proprietary so you can't buy them from anywhere else (to my knowledge).
You can try with alternative caps. Everybody has their favorites. I've used Solen before and they make good caps.

Re: Re-capping a Sonographe SA400
I just picked up a slightly beat up SA400. I plan on re-capping it myself (first time project), powder coating the case, and hopefully figuring out what to do with the faceplate. I got it for a steal and it supposedly sounds perfect despite the body damage. He says it was never dropped, just other ...

Thanks for the link. He seems to give a very positive review. Maybe this is another area where China has improved quality?

Hola chicos, I did a little Goggle search and found this Shunguan KT-120. Stereotimes says this:The Shuguang Treasure KT-120 tube, the subject of this review, has some distinguishing features that include the internal carbon polymer compound coating, gold plated pins, Super Alloy, and Teflon insula...

I agree with AJ. I would just enjoy these. If you are really looking to take a significant step up in performance (and price), then I would be looking at CJ's newest amp offerings.

Technology is pretty amazing and getting to the point that it may be surpassing humans in the artistic fields. The ability to pick out music with just a poor sample quality of a few seconds is pretty impressive. Recently I've also been very impressed with AI generated art like Midjourney ( https://w...

Re: Audiophile Fuses: Worthwhile or "Snake Oil" ?
The MDQ does look fancier with that internal design. At the end of the day, you have to listen to you ears. You shouldn't have to replace fuses too many times so it's a modest investment for improvement in sound.

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear
It certainly appears to be a quality unit. But again, falls into that "jack of all trades, master of none" category that will only appeal to few. I will say that the presentation with that full front display is very impressive. Certainly an eye catcher.

Re: Audio Research
The 6SE could pass for a 6 if you didn’t look at the back. Looks great! So they don't have any particular faceplate change for the SE version but there is something on the back? I think the Sasha DAWs will be the finishing touch unless/until I decide to attack the streaming project. When are the DA...

Re: Audio Research
Glad it got there safe. Sounds like it was banged up but the packaging did its job well. If already out of the box it is sounding better than the 6SE I think you are going to be very happy in the long run. As you say, you just have to "suffer" through the burn in. When you have time, I wou...

Re: CJ MF 2300
Glad it is sounding good.
If the hum is in the MF2300, it's most likely transformer hum as AJ points out. If you can hear it in the speaker and it's 60 hz, most likely ground loop.

Lots of changes going which should be fun to experiment with to see what kind of performance you get with new equipment and cables. The Thunderbirds look amazing. It would be interesting to see if there is a difference between RCA vs XLR. It's nice to have both options and I can see why you would go...

I have gotten used to the click. Brought it up because I never had it with previous CJ preamps. As long as Jeff says its ok I have no further questions. Now enjoying every bit of it...... Exactly. It does not interfere with the music in any way and I view it as a "quirk" that is unique. A...
