Re: AXPONA in Chicago 2013

Sounds good to me. Rumour is that the next Chicago show will be much bigger by comparison. Plus this time I will have a lot more knowledge about the gear and more importantly what I want to buy. The discounts on some things being sold there were awesome. Mainly demo and used cables were the best bar...

Teac A-H01 USB receiver

One of the last things I wanted to do is get into downloading music. But everything about my playback via the computer was literally non-existent. As much as I want a C-J HD3 dac, dropping $3K on one was just something I was hesitant to do. After many days of soul searching and research I decided to...

Re: What have you been listening to?

Cool 80's discus. I graduated H.S. in 86 so all I know is 80's music. Well not all, but plenty of it. My latest purchase is from Reference Recordings dot com, There'a A Time by Doug Macleod. I was buying from them and I bought this disc b/c it was new (disc was made in 2013) and I picked it at rando...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

Well I just read the specs of your speakers on the Avalon Acoustics web site and from what I see, I would stick with the 4 ohm. I honestly don't know if going w/ an 8 ohm ARTsa would make any difference since it's so powerful. But internally there has to be a way to change the output taps by the con...

Re: ET3 and LP66S

Yeah I'm done with power cables for now. I need to take advantage of my CD players USB capabilities. So I need a type A to type B USB cable about 10' long. Then I need to start looking at what music to download. I have a CD collection 500 strong so I won't get anything I already have. This will be m...

Re: AXPONA in Chicago 2013

Sorry, I don't have any connections to up coming shows. For many moons I wanted to grab a plane, a rental car, & a hotel just to attend a show somewhere. But I never could get the motivation to do that. But when this show came to Chicago, I jumped all over it. I also realize that a show like thi...

AXPONA in Chicago 2013

Anyone here going to or have already attended the 2013 AXPONA show in Chicago? I went yesterday the 8th. It was very easy to get to and the only money I spent was $13 for garage parking + the $12 for the advance tix. And tolls n' fuel to get there. It was my first time attending a show of this magni...

Re: ET3 and LP66S

Well the Nordost Valhalla digital cable finally came in yesterday. Just like opening a Christmas present I was so excited. The family was around when I opened it and they were more impressed with the presentation box than the cable. They were also shocked when I told them what I paid for it ($1970)....

Re: What have you been listening to?

Got that Vangelis disc as well. I bought it when I was stationed at Misawa AB Japan in 1988 when it came out. Our post exchange had a really bad selection of discs, but that one showed up & I bought it. I like track 4 myself. Another disc in heavy rotation is Mark Knopflers Sailing to Philadelph...

Re: ET3 and LP66S

Just another update on what I've been doing w/ my system: Recently I added a QUANTUM BASE QV2 AC LINE HARMONIZER, another Nordost Blue Heaven power cable for my SACD player, & Black Diamond Racing LM discs to place under my ET3. By adding the harmonizer & composite feet, I feel that the pre...

Re: What have you been listening to?

My latest spin is Supertramp - Some Things Never Change. It came out in 1997. I also saw them on tour that year in Chicago. My fav track in #1, It's A Hard World. I just love that bass guitar opening. Even though it doesn't say so on anywhere on the disc or on the inserts, it is an HDCD coded disc ...

Re: What have you been watching?

Only one movie to comment on today. I wanted to see it at the cinema, but Dredd on Blu-ray to me was some fine entertainment. Yeah the story line could have used a little more help and the acting was ok, it's the human carnage that takes center stage here. I'm not saying I support violence, ...

Re: ET3 and LP66S

Well I gave my ET3 a tune up of sorts. I noticed at the beginning of 2013 that w/o warning it got real noisy. The back ground "hiss" was getting annoying. :x Also I noticed a pop and sizzle coming from the left channel. OK, I was all about ready to send it to c-j under warranty when I saw ...

Re: Sony BDP-S570 Blu-ray Player

It was no surprise that my Yamaha BD-S1900 stopped reading blue discs. I tried a firmware update, but it won't recognize the USB flash card when I put it in. I always knew in the back of my mind that I was going to replace that thing soon. Naturally I want the best disc player out there, but at this...

Re: What have you been watching?

I got Total Recall (the 2012 remake) for Christmas and The Bourne Legacy. Both were excellent. The CGI on Total Recall was excellent. Although the story line was predictable, it wasn't as corny as the 1990 original film. But they did pay plenty of homage to the original film, but it was classy and e...

Re: CJ New Product line rumors

If y'all will direct your attention to the Spearit Sound web site, click on the product line C-J to the left, then go to pg 4 you will see a description of the new Classic 2 pre. The link they are installing is still very new, but some info is there on this pre. Maybe it's something to consider. Sad...

Re: Adcom GDA-700

Just an update here. I removed the Kimber PBJs & replaced them w/ Nordost Blue Heaven flat line (0.6m). Bought them new yesterday even though they are the older series. Normally $200 new, but got em out the door for $128. A nice improvement in sound. It brings in a little bit of warmth and smoot...
