Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
They certainly do help. But at the same time, I could completely see how something this would be a deal breaker for somebody buying speakers. The footprint of this setup is huge, one could argue that aesthetically it's not the best. Compared to something the similar planar Diptyque audio speakers we...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
Hola Chicos, My aim is for this product made in France. It looks very promising and have great price. Have a look: https://www.diptyqueaudio.com/en/41-english I've seen pictures of these before. They look spectacular. The Diptyque panels are really well designed and made with high-quality materials...

I've also used the Deoxit brand contact cleaner with good results in the past.

Re: PV-10AL on/off switch
Hi John. Welcome to CJO. CJ does not sell individual parts so I doubt you can order the switch. So that means you would need to remove it yourself to see if it can be repaired or replaced with an alternative. It should be easy to find an alternative toggle push switch. Or you can send the unit to CJ...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
My other mates were saying that due to the extensive labour hours required, the installation & design team probably needed more breaks... Coffees, tea, bikkies, sodas, a few instant noodle packs, some ramen, boiled eggs... that type of thing, so obviously would be added into the cost! Also, if ...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
That one system comprising of the highly modded MG20.7's was something else! I guess sky's the limit in what you can upgrade including the framework and overall rigidity of the panels. The other advantage of the older series is that the crossovers are external! So every part in there can be custom ...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve
Robert, wise words. There is no magic formula for optimal sound and all the things you mentioned play a crucial role in evaluating audio performance. No magic distance from speaker, toe in angle, distance from walls, etc. We start with a good guess and then use experimentation to optimize from there...

Re: Streaming reliability and streamer updating
My wife wondered aloud at lunch “What’s Alison Krauss doing these days?” I googled and found a handful of albums over the last decade, the most recent of which is 2021’s “Raising the Roof” (her second collaboration with Robert Plant. Rather than order the CD or vinyl, I found it on Amazon as a 96/2...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
No disrespect to Maggie's, they are true value for money and nothing comes close in that range. I've owned nearly every Maggie model (from the early MGIIIa to the MG20), except the 30.7's. I was seriously thinking about it but when my good Aussie mate ordered a pair and was the first ever pair to l...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve
Nice system. Small rooms present more challenges than large ones, all things being equal. There is a bit of damping in that room (carpets, drapes, acoustic panels) so that should help. If you wanted to narrow the frequency response even further you could employ a calibration mike and runs some test ...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
Well, they are very nice speakers but I was expecting a significantly lower price point considering they are made in Asia. I don't know if the problem is that sourcing materials is too expensive or they are looking for a money grab off of cheap labor? I guess the market will decide if this will play...

I have not found ANY USB C to either TOSlink or COAX. Do they exist? I did find a junction box that could serve two cables of different termination. But at what loss in performance? There are, and they are cheap. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Cubilux-TOSLINK-Thunderbolt-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
Definitely would be very interested in hearing these speakers and comparing them to the likes of Martin Logan and Magnepan. Of course the price point will also be a factor in how competitive they will be. I would hope that making them in Asia would significantly offer them an advantage on price, but...

The benefit of Roon over HEOS (or other player apps such as BluOS which is what I use) is the recommendation engine and the album info. Otherwise not much.AnotherJohnson wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 3:53 pm Thinking out loud, it seems like Roon is just HEOS on steroids.

I don't see any issue with the downloads. You do have to be a member of CJO to download files. I see this is your first post and you just signed up. Please try again following the instructions in the schematics download post. If you are still having issues, please let me know with as much detail as ...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
The 30.7s appear to have spiked in price. They’re nearly $40k at this point. Wow, that is a big jump from $30k which is what it was before. Magnepan made a name for itself for being a "budget" speaker company. Not sure if that is still a valid claim when you are charging $40k a set. But, ...

Re: Amazon Music and how to get true lossless bitperfect HD/Ultra HD to play
Lots of options to pursue,... if desired. I'm not a big MQA fan so Tidal I have not been a big fan. If you really want to go the roon route, you may want to check out quboz as a streaming service. At the end of the day, the cost of the streaming service will be the least expensive part and many offe...

Re: Amazon Music and how to get true lossless bitperfect HD/Ultra HD to play
I've found that no format holds superiority in all cases. Sometimes the CD sounds the best, sometimes vinyl, and sometimes streaming. It's fun to experiment when one has access to the same material in different formats (or releases). Streaming doesn't take up a massive amount of bandwidth but can be...

Very exciting. I agree with you, you will most likely get a bigger bump in performance from the speaker upgrade all things considered. I run a pair of maggie 20.1's and love them. The 20.7 design upgrade I am sure you will find give you an even higher level of performance. Keep us informed.

Re: Congratulations Conrad Johnson!!!
Very nice and well deserved. I have to admit I usually don't put a lot of faith in these "best of" lists but I think it's good for brand recognition and to emphasize that CJ is really some of the best hardware that can be had in the industry. Congrats to CJ and the entire team.
