Film capacitors last forever unlike electrolytic capacitors which have a life span of 15-20 years. Film capacitors include polypropylene, polystyrene and Teflon caps.
You have nothing to worry about.

Re: NEW Conrad Johnson ART27A Triode Tube Amp
I don't know what the internal implementation looks like but I remember Lew saying that 90% of the people that converted their Premier 11,12,8 to triode ended changing them back to Ultra Linear. I see that the output stage power supply is regulated which CJ have never done before on their power amps...

Re: Is there any Teflon in this chassis? I have outlined what was believed to be Teflon Caps in blue outline
Teflon come in 2uf, 0.47uf, 015uf, etc. The 30if caps are all polypropylene. A 30if teflon cap would not fit this chassis and would cost more than the whole preamp.

Re: Would you buy and ART Series 3 and How Much Should you Pay?
It's a fantastic preamp with modern CJ sound. A bit less detail and clarity than the GAT. It's the only version of the ART that has teflon caps. The only issue I had with the ART when i had it (mk2) is that it uses 10 tubes which will pretty much limit your choice of tubes to the stock EH6922 unless...

Re: The Martin Logan CLX's, a true work of Art!
I've heard the Ren15A driven with both the Classic 120SE and the ART150. The chap who owns these over here, has now placed an order for the ART300's, claims that the ART150 was wonderful but the Ren15A could deliver more, hence the justification for the 300's. This is a strange justification for th...

Re: The Martin Logan CLX's, a true work of Art!
Hi RJ, Congrats on the new CLX. Its a fantastic speaker. I used to own the CLSz which were fantastic although much more difficult to set up and power the CLX and definitely not the same level of performance. I then had the Montis which were also great before moving to my current Sonus Fabers. I stil...

Re: ART150 Incoming
Coppy, I am more a Wireworld cable guy. I haven't used Odins or Nordost but have tried other cables and settled on Wireworld for power, speaker and interconnect. I think they are really special and even their mid-line cable sounded better to me than some of the top cables from other companies. With ...

Re: ART150 Incoming
RJ, I agree the full break in will take up to a 1000 hours but the changes beyond the first 300 hours are smaller. I played the amp 12 hours daily to expedite the first stage of break in. At this point I am just enjoying the music knowing that it will still get better but I am not stressing over it,...

Re: ART150 Incoming
With over 200 hours on the clock (probably around 250 hours with the break in time at the factory) I thought I would send another update. The ART150 is really starting to show its capabilities. Improvement in sound quality is more consistent and the Teflon break in step backs are behind me at this p...

Re: Ordered a GAT2 today.
I would never be too busy to open a GAT2 :) Congratulations on having the best of the best. Preamps are also easier to break in than power amps. Just leave it on with a radio input playing while connected to the power amp. The power amp does not have to be on so no worries on getting anyone nervous ...

Re: ART150 Incoming
jahat513, I heard they put 50 hours on the ART150 before shipping but I am not sure. In any case with 50 hours of use I still get the inconsistent Teflon cap break in dance where it will sound great in the morning and totally flat 6 hours later. I still have a way to go with break in. I have gone th...

Re: The all new ET7-2 Pre-amp is here
I have commented on this in these pages when the ET7 came out that CJ cut costs by using an electric capacitor in the high voltage supply, something they have always preached against. Only the entry level ET3 has this configuration. All other CJ amps and preamps have always used only polyprop caps i...

Re: ART150 Incoming
Thank you all. The ART150 out of the box is showing great promise. Bass is the best I have ever heard from a tube amp which includes by Beard P100 which was already a step above the CJ LP125mSE. Not quite a match for my Krell FPB300 but fantastic nevertheless. Details retrieval is also several notch...

ART150 Incoming
Hi all, I could not be more exited. After selling my LP125mSE mono blocks which have served me extremely well over the past 8 years I placed an order for the new ART150 amplifier. I am expecting the FedEx truck today.... Can't wait. Once I receive it I will send some unboxing pictures and will send ...

Re: Premier 11, Premier 12, Premier 140 in order of hierarchy and short list of why you chose
I would choose the Premier 140 because it uses tubes that are available new today. The 11 and 12 use the 6fq7 tube that is no longer made and as such will be Notre difficult to source in good quality.
Circuit wise the design is very similar.

Re: Diagnosing/repairing hiss on PV-1 phono stage?
I don't have the schematic for the pv1 but given its age i am assuming there are electrolytic salads in the power supply. These all need to be replaced. Leaky caps can cause noise. Also look for resistors that changed color or measure wrong. Focus on the phone section of the circuit.
