Re: Ye Olde Sonographe 250
I was able to find a mint SA-250 on ebay last year for $350 shipped and consider myself very lucky. These amps seem to pop up once in a blue moon on the bay anymore. I pair it with a PV14LS and Totem Hawk's and am impressed with each listening section. A very, tubey, velvety sounding piece of equip...

Indeed I am as well... How do you find the quality of AKUS recordings? I have the live two disc set(among others) that is surprisingly well recorded for a live performance. Very little hiss, if any, and very dynamic sounds. Disc two, track two, The Boy That Wouldnt Hoe Corn is a shining example of n...

"Quantum phase angle electron arc migration cable" ha! gonna have to use that one on some of my local audio junkie friends....might have to throw in some Tony Stark though and make it the "Quantum phase angle electron arc REACTOR migration cable". The cable POWERS itself.....lol....

Re: New Interconnects....couldn't help myself...
Yeah, even as a dealer the shop I worked for would of had to buy like $5k worth of WBT before the discount was worth it. I was willing to throw up a thousand, but the owner wasnt interested. This was a mom and pop shop, literally. They went out of business shortly after due to the internet. I was go...

Re: Music Player/Servers
I agree, I cannot for the life of my come up with the name of the case that I wanted. But it came with a remote, and they have since discontinued the particular model. There was a build up using it on a HT forum that I was going to basically copy. As for audiophile usb, yeah, Im not buying it....lit...

Re: Isolation for CJ Equipment?
I find removing the covers for CJ preamp works the best. The metal covers form a giant low level; capacitor in relation to the circuit board and tends to roll off the extreme top end. I make covers out of plexiglass and drill as needed for cooling and that seems to work well sonically and still hav...

Re: New Interconnects....couldn't help myself...
Love the anodized blue, again very pretty. May I ask how much they cost, or if you get a deal, how much they cost "the public". I worked in the business several years ago and know the mark up can be down right ridiculous. Seeing yours makes me wanna go dig up a pair of my old plain jane Ap...

Re: New Interconnects....couldn't help myself...
Very pretty indeed. Gotta love DIY cables. I think that the locking helps with respect to having a good solid connection, even the best non locking connectors "wear out" and get loose....and really the same goes for the other end. My CJ PV1 has almost all of the rear jacks worn down from s...

VERY impressive build there. Certainly does look like it belongs in a hifi rack. I have been using my PC as a media center since ATI came out with the All in Wonder.....yeah, things have come along way. Sadly my finances have not been able to keep up. Current setup is a dedicated Dell Laptop in a do...

Re: Spin Clean Record Washer
Towel dry??? I guess it depends on what kind of towel you are using. For that setup I would think that air drying would be much better. That towel, though fresh out of the dryer, or even brand new, has fibers that will get right back into the records. Yes I have to admit I own one of the vacuum clea...

Re: Sub-Woofer Recomendation and Hook Up
I am thinking about adding a sub-woofer to my 2-channels system consisted of a CJ Premier 2 pre-amp, Threshold 500 II power-amp driving a Accoustac 2+2 electrostatic plannar speaker. My system is mainly used for music listening. Which sub-woofer that you would recommend and how to hook it up? Pleas...

Re: Favorite cable company?
Man I dunno. Maybe I will just play the devil's advocate here, but I have had some expensive cables(vintage Apature) that were silly expensive. Both RCA and speaker. Some old french company that slips my mind now but it was just single twisted pair solid core. Pure silver custom made by me. What I h...

Parasound?
I know that even mentioning Parasound on a CJ board is gonna get me in the hot seat, but I have been using both pre and post Curl designed Parasound gear for years(even used to sell it when I was back in the business). I have been very impressed with the bang for the buck so to speak. My home theate...

Re: Laserdisc Remote Control Repair
Very nice write up. I have a similar remote for my Pioneer LD. No problems yet, but it is a back up to my Sony. Remotes can be a real pain to fix for sure. Usually a little twisting will help determine where the tabs are. Sometimes it really comes down to "brute force and ignorance", the m...

Being proud of your father for not only his work and reputation is something I find wonderful. That you would share here is just further proof. Not sure if you just stopped by ...

Know its an old post, but is that an Alison Krauss CD I spy? One of my standards, even some of her and US's live stuff is fairly well recorded. Beautiful gear for sure, I know the feeling of regret after letting some go. le'sigh....lol.

Welcome, no worries on "bad English"...lol. Im sure that Im terrible to read at times, I do tend to ramble and get off topic at times. Will check out your thread on the early preamp. I have a PV1(as I am sure nearly as everyone is aware of by now...lol), and personally love the older equip...

Re: Hello from Holland!
Hello everybody, I live in the Netherlands and own a CJ pre-amp. From memory it is a PV-3 or a PV-5. Several years ago it develloped a nasty hum and ended up in the attic. Now I plan to restore the pre-amp in its former glory. I'm not a newbie at maintaining/upgrading audio equipment, mainly solid-...

Yeah, those were put there literally just to have sound and to have a place so they wouldnt get damaged. They were supposed to be temporary, and still really are, but that project is way down the list. I originally had them in a setup that was between rooms, about 9 feet from the back wall, so it wa...
