Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve
That's an incredibly complicated setup. If all those tweaks make it sound better, then at the end of the day, that is what is important. But I will say that I think what sounds best is going to come down to experimentation. There are just to many variables to account for to make accurate predictions...

Re: Conrad Johnson Premier 140 Vs Conrad Johnson Premier twelve
Gregorioo, If you really want to see what the full potential of the Premier 140 is going to be, I would use it alone to drive the speakers as roberto is suggesting. I'm not sure of what the advantage is of biamping your system unless you really feel you don't have enough power and your experiencing ...

Wow, that's a monster of an amp. The cost of retubing it as much as many high end amps cost alone.

I agree. The 150B is an amazing unit that does tons of stuff,... but most of which you will not utilize on a regular basis.

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear
I read the first review before. The 2nd was new. It's definitely and interesting unit. I liked the pictures in the 2nd review, especially with the Rose's screen being an old style tuner. This thing even plays radio,... it truly does a lot of stuff, perhaps more than any streamer I have seen. Still, ...

Re: Roon
AJ, I think you are a little. Also, I think you may be approaching digital in the wrong way. You have built a top of the line system for you analog playback. Really some of the best gear available (and with the new Wilson's arriving shortly, even better). But keep in mind that you did not start your...

Re: Roon
And that’s the part that’s so confusing. If all the services are sonically flawed in some way, then the attraction must be due to the issues like catelog size, search and suggest software etc. Is that a naive or jaded view? I don't think this statement is necessarily true. Whether vinyl, CD, or str...

Re: Roon
I dunno … it looks like an expensive and steep learning curve for someone with high expectations. I suppose like all other things in our hobby. But I still subscribe to the concept that you don't have to necessarily jump into 5 figure gear to get great digital audio. I think the only component that...

Re: Roon
I don't use Roon personally but a lot of people in the audiophile community do. I don't think it is a question of whether Roon is "good or bad", but rather do you need the functionality of what Roon offers. It's basically a front end to playing music from multiple sources and offers a lot ...

We do have the PV10 schematics in our database so that may help identifying a signal path specifically to look at.

Re: Problem with my PV10B
First, welcome to CJO. Great to have you with us. Sorry you are having an issue with your PV10B. It must be doubly frustrating that you were hoping to get better sound out of new tubes only to have disaster strike. It sounds like you did a pretty good job with making sure the tube socket is not the ...

Re: A new ribbon design... looks like a refurbed Apogee
Very interesting speaker design. As planar speaker user these models always intrigue me. I guess the question becomes, what do these offer that the top end martin logan or magnepan don't? There is a big jump in price going from low 5 figures to 6 figures. I would definitely love to get some listenin...

I think CJ caps are proprietary so you can't buy them from anywhere else (to my knowledge).
You can try with alternative caps. Everybody has their favorites. I've used Solen before and they make good caps.

Re: Re-capping a Sonographe SA400
I just picked up a slightly beat up SA400. I plan on re-capping it myself (first time project), powder coating the case, and hopefully figuring out what to do with the faceplate. I got it for a steal and it supposedly sounds perfect despite the body damage. He says it was never dropped, just other ...

Hola chicos, I did a little Goggle search and found this Shunguan KT-120. Stereotimes says this:The Shuguang Treasure KT-120 tube, the subject of this review, has some distinguishing features that include the internal carbon polymer compound coating, gold plated pins, Super Alloy, and Teflon insula...
