Re: Change voltage from 125 to 220V in preamps.

To the best of my knowledge all cj gear is multi voltage. Cj can provide instruction on how to rewire the transformer to 220v.

Re: ET3 SE Tube Life

CJ for some reason chose to run the filament voltage on the ET3 and ET5 a bit high. 6.5v vs. the spec'd 6.3v. This causes some tube to hiss after a while. You can use the 7v version of the 6922/6DJ8 which is the PCC88/7DJ8 and you will not have an issue. As a bonus these tubes are typically much che...

Re: CJ MF 2500

I would not bypass any fuses if I were you. The disaster that can result is not worth any gain in sound quality. One accidental shorting of the speaker leads will result in your amp being toasted.

Re: CJ MF 2500

I have swapped the stock fuses with "audiophile" fuses from Hi Fi Tuning in my ACT2 and Premier 14 preamps and can't say I heard a huge difference. I believe there are better ways to invest your money. 5 fuses will cost anywhere from $250 to $500 and more. A premier power cord will likely ...

Re: Two new power amps from CJ for 2017!

If you love the EL34 sound try the new Mullard reissue KT88's. I find them more musical than the KT120. They are warmer in the mids and sound similar to the Gold Lion KT88 at a much lower price. They are very dynamic with great extension.

Re: Two new power amps from CJ for 2017!

RJ, For a couple of years I had the ML Spire mated with a CJ LP70 and a Beard P100 tube amplifiers. The combination was heavenly and I could live happily ever after with it. You lose the highest frequencies because of the very low impedance of the ESL panel at those frequencies but at my age I am no...

Re: ET3 Upgrade

The upgrade is a very significant improvement. More detail, lower noise floor, larger and better defined soundstage. Its a very worthwhile improvement IMO. I have done this upgrade with my ET3 6 or so years ago when I still had my ET3. I later upgraded to the ACT2.

Re: New preamp

Hi Jazzao, Welcome to the forum. The Pr16 and CT5 are a significant step up from the Pr 17. The Pr16 being more traditional CJ sound while the CT5 is more modern with Teflon caps. The modern CJ sound will be more detailed, with better extension at the frequency extremes. With that said, you can not ...

Re: Two new power amps from CJ for 2017!

Well said. Although I currently own Sonus Faber speakers I owned several ML speakers in the past including the CLSz and they were all phenomenal speakers and some of the best value in audio today. I am sure your setup sound absolutely marvelous.

Enjoy!

Hi Roberto,

Are you a CJ dealer? What CJ amplifier did you use before when you say there is a big difference?

Thanks, Ronen

Re: The CJ ARTsa all an amplifier can be

A few points to consider: 1. CJ need to release new amplifiers every few years to stay in the market but there is very little difference between their older models and newer ones. The Classic 120 is the same circuit as the LP125sa which is essentially the same as the LP125m mono blocks apart from us...

Re: LP66s (4ohms) + Bw 805D (8ohms)?

One out put tube I would urge you to try is the Mullard reissue KT88 (Russian). Its 95% similar to the Gold Lion KT88 which is much more expensive. I could not hear the difference much like Kevin from Upscale Audio. I actually prefer them to the KT120. They Mullard's are slightly warmer than the KT1...

Re: The CJ ARTsa all an amplifier can be

Different folks different strokes I guess. I experience has been very different. One of my best friends is the local CJ dealer and I was his technician when he needed to service a CJ amp. I have had the chance to hear and service almost every CJ amp in the past 30 years. To me the mono blocks always...

Re: PV-12 phono - MC?

The PV12's phono stage has a gain of ~40DB which suits MM cartridges. If you want to use a low output MC you will need a step-up transformer which is the better option anyway for a tubed phono stage. Getting MC gain with tubes is difficult and will generate relatively high levels of noise. A step-up...

Re: The CJ ARTsa all an amplifier can be

The LP125sa+ would be a much closer match to the ARTsa as it also comes with the Teflon capacitors and top Vishay resistors as the ARTsa although in a much cheaper case. I have heard both and they are very close. I actually preffered my LP125m SE mono blocks to the ARTsa. The mono block configuratio...
