Re: The Sound in Heart Conrad Johnson
Hello Ray,What is your preamp model, and how is your audio Equipement? I think exactly the same as you described, if the distorted, colors and whatever the others say, I enjoy just these top devices and I just can not imagine any other devices in the chain to play. Just sounds just right ... Best S...

Re: Best Sounding Tubes Ever Made...
In my case, I've been limited to the tubes used in the CJ preamps I've owned. (Currently GAT) I've owned ET5, ET3 and now GAT, all obviously 6922 based. I think by a fairly good margin I preferred NOS Mullards, but I have terrible luck with these, and have wasted a ton of money trying to keep a work...

Re: CJ Premier 2 blew up
I've been following various CJ forums for several years now, I can't recall ever hearing of such a failure... but I may have missed it. Hopefully CJ's service setup has gotten back on track since Ed's departure. If by "wrote" you mean email, historically they were pretty bad at responding ...

Re: The Sound in Heart Conrad Johnson
In my case, the day I saw the CJ Classic preamp, I bought one. The price and feature set were perfect for me at the time. I enjoyed it very much and, as any nutty audiophile would, I ended up moving up the CJ food chain. I simply could not imagine ever owning anything other than a CJ Preamp. They ar...

Re: Music Player/Servers
In no particular order: the most "painful" purchase was the case itself. Streacom FC5EVO from QuietPC it's around $290 with shipping. I had to swallow hard on that one. beyond the case overall costs are more or less as expected: pretty much from memory, these should be pretty close thought...

Re: Favorite cable company?
I was thinking I might want to jump back into the cable building /experimenting realm again also..and those LOK connectors from HGA would be a nice connector choice for some home made RCAs.

Re: Favorite cable company?
"Home Grown Audio" has some reasonably priced cables, kits and assembled.
I've used DH Labs also, great stuff!
and lastly I'm currently using speaker cables from Moon Audio.

Music Player/Servers
Thought I'd post a story about my on-going "fun" with music server PCs. Long story short, I started a few years ago experimenting with Media Monkey and an original Cambridge DAC-Magic as a FLAC music player combo. Not really expecting much...boy was I wrong. What seems like about a dozen b...

Re: PV1 MV50 MV52
Fantastic story! I owned a couple of the Monsoon computer setups for awhile, at one point built a "real sub" to go along with it. These were great speakers and the planar portion was wonderful. Looks like you've got a ton of work ahead, but that's the fun part. 'looking forward to the next...

Re: Is CJ closed for Easter?
I can only speak for my own situation, having bought one of the first Classics (my first CJ Preamp) then an ET3, ET5 and now GAT.... CJ's response to the dozen or so inquires I've made over the years, was often fairly pitiful. Ed was always extremely polite, apologetic and helpful once I could speak...

Re: CJ New Product line rumors
Ah yes, I had noticed the Classic 2 will be 6922 based..this makes the entire stereo preamp line now 6922 based. Actually the Classic 2, ET3 and ET5 all have a single 6922, with GAT having a 6922 per channel. Interesting. One thing for sure, it'll give Classic owners many more options for tube-rolli...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm
Hi, As with all digital audio, things are not simple........you would think that one laptop/processor/OS would sound like another! My older i3 with windows 7 home edition using the exact same settings in J River sounds completely different to the i5 with windows 7 pro! In actual fact, the older, sl...
Re: New ET-3
Congratulations! ..and Welcome. Now go listen to music and stop looking at Internet forums. Maybe I should take my own advice! :? :D Just purchased a new CJ ET-3. It was a demo with under 50 hours. I was going to order a new one but this sounded way too nice and it was my birthday. All I can s...

Re: Article about study explaining why mp3's may not sound g
I have not noticed any difference between genuine CD's, ripped CD's (lossless). The truth of the matter is that I can't really hear the difference between CD's and higher quality digital recordings such as SACD, DVD-audio, or high bitrate/resolution audio. I think the actual sound mix quality is mu...

Re: Power Conditioners compatible with CJ gear?
I've used various Furman power devices over the years. They tend to be a bit more "industrial" or "professional" than "Audiophile" though. I never really had any specific noise or power problems, main reason for using a power device was to have a central power connectio...

Re: Article about study explaining why mp3's may not sound g
Interesting read (both articles)... Although no one brought up lossless format.. Is it true that a ripped CD sounds better when played back as flac or aiff? I never owned a very expensive CD player and so I don't know for sure.. What I know is that my $300 Sony CD player is boring to listen to...th...
