Re: Is CJ still in business?

There are no 10 amp lines in the USA. Our standard is 120 VAC, and minimum code for a house is 15 amp to each outlet. That’s only 1800 Watts. Because of efficiency issues, the regenerator will be lucky to put out about 1500 Watts. It may be plenty, but on a 20 amp line, there’s no debate. Yes, I'm ...

Re: Is CJ still in business?

Yes, that's correct on those sort of devices. Including the ones I've used before at our apartment few years ago. The load from two monoblocks would crank the power conditioner all the way to nearly full capacity! So the wattage draw showing on such devices is correct. After all, there's a lot of ad...

Re: looking to select a CJ preamp for purchase

Just stick with the ET5, and enjoy it to the fullest. There's really no point in looking at a GAT series preamp, simply because the Prem12's aren't going to sound like any of CJ's LP or ART series amplifiers. If you are considering the GAT route then also be prepared to upgrade the power amps, other...

Re: Is CJ still in business?

Attn: on tube power amplifiers wattage draw on idle; They don't draw large amounts of watts from the grid. On idle the max draw is around 20 - 25w equal to a standard light bulb. When the draw increases during power up, there's a certain amount of surge / rush of voltage, this is what causes lights ...

Re: Wilson speakers

Yep, that sounds about right. Once you've found what you're after, and have carefully put together a system that delivers all the custom elements that you're looking for, you've achieved it! To push further beyond this point is merely pointless for several reasons: 1. You're just re-inventing the wh...

Re: looking to select a CJ preamp for purchase

Hey JB, that's certainly not surprising that the ET5 is settling in... given the fact that it wasn't hardly used. That Reflector tube 6h32p / 6922 equivalent is a premium tube, and should be performing quite well. Others that I've tried in the ET5 and have been impressed with were mostly be Genalex ...

Re: ART 108A amp

Oh boy! 52 large ones... that's an awful lot of spend just for amplifiers. Then add the ART88 and that tops out at over 110grand $AUD. Can be negotiated on a few grand less but overall, still 100grand plus for the ART top of the line pre-power match up. I'll get a chance to audition this July, appoi...

Re: looking to select a CJ preamp for purchase

Correct! And remember to swap both channels, not one. You swap both the + & - leads on both channels to arrive at an even number of phase inversions. Since the ET5 inverts phase at its main Outs... you add another phase inversion by swapping speaker leads to equal two. That's an even number, and...

Re: looking to select a CJ preamp for purchase

Attn: JB, the ET5 comes in only one version, it replaced the ACT2 series 1. Thereafter, the ACT2 released version 2 but the ET5 was well received by then. It performed remarkably well. So there was no need to release an ACT2 version 3, CJ just continued with the ET series and moved on towards the ET...

Re: looking to select a CJ preamp for purchase

Brilliant!!! That's a fantastic preamp matey. It will surpass the Rouge by all angles... it's not even funny. Just you wait and see. The other great thing is, it's got a deep chassis, like my CT5. So, down the line if you ever wanted to mod a few things, with this added space, sky's the limit, reall...

Re: ART 108A amp

Ah! That sounds like a great match Jazzy5. Those Focals are really good speakers, and the French based company certainly knows how to make really good sounding speakers. I've never owned Focals before but each time I've heard them, they've never disappointed. I think if memory serves correct... the ...

Correct! Even if you were to drug or inject Wendell D with one of those tell all truth cerums... the old bugger wouldn't budge! Mags have been developing this for a while now, and they were supposed to introduce it in their new MG studio series speakers, which is supposed to have a ribbon panel mate...

Re: Audio Research filing

Mmm... this is not good. Certainly didn't see this coming. Well, what I meant was, I didn't expect this from Trent Suggs! He should have known better. This is what happens when you borrow more than you could afford to lose, and not paying back ends up in debt and you're labelled as "default.&qu...

Re: Audio Research filing

Trent Suggs seems like a great chap. They say that he looks after his team of "associates" and never refers to them as employees. Also is very passionate about the company and brand, so wondering how on earth did ARC end up in a financial pickle... what was it that he did so badly in? To a...

Re: ART 108A amp

108A mono, is my dream amp. Jeff says if you play music 3 hours daily, it will take you 3 years to get K88(16) replaced. He had an assembled kit sitting on shelf waiting for completion. it has big right and left(only 2 transformers-power/output) specially made for CJ in another state. None was avai...

Re: Which "Golden Glow" CJ Preamp To Mate with CAV 45S-2

Good stuff Paolo mate, just enjoy it as it is. After all, there are many many other options out there in terms of a fine pre-power combination bit the fact that the CAV45-S2 does not have a preamp, is the very essence of simplicity! It's simplicity at it's finest! Doesn't get any better than that. Y...

Re: AXpona 2023

Ah! That sounds more like it. When they had the FR30's... I think it was, over here at our last Melb hifi show, it wasn't a great sound at all. I think I mentioned this somewhere before on another thread. The room was a major let down and the PS Audio dealer really didn't know what they were doing. ...
