I agree with AJ. I would just enjoy these. If you are really looking to take a significant step up in performance (and price), then I would be looking at CJ's newest amp offerings.

Re: Shazam Song Finder

Technology is pretty amazing and getting to the point that it may be surpassing humans in the artistic fields. The ability to pick out music with just a poor sample quality of a few seconds is pretty impressive. Recently I've also been very impressed with AI generated art like Midjourney ( https://w...

Re: Audiophile Fuses: Worthwhile or "Snake Oil" ?

The MDQ does look fancier with that internal design. At the end of the day, you have to listen to you ears. You shouldn't have to replace fuses too many times so it's a modest investment for improvement in sound.

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

It certainly appears to be a quality unit. But again, falls into that "jack of all trades, master of none" category that will only appeal to few. I will say that the presentation with that full front display is very impressive. Certainly an eye catcher.

Re: Audio Research

The 6SE could pass for a 6 if you didn’t look at the back. Looks great! So they don't have any particular faceplate change for the SE version but there is something on the back? I think the Sasha DAWs will be the finishing touch unless/until I decide to attack the streaming project. When are the DA...

We celebrated Thanksgiving this past weekend to make the drive for my parents easier but we will be having a small family lunch today as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and best wishes.

Nice album, did a listen the other day. I will probably be playing this and some Enya around Christmas time.

Re: Audio Research

Glad it got there safe. Sounds like it was banged up but the packaging did its job well. If already out of the box it is sounding better than the 6SE I think you are going to be very happy in the long run. As you say, you just have to "suffer" through the burn in. When you have time, I wou...

Re: CJ MF 2300

Glad it is sounding good.

If the hum is in the MF2300, it's most likely transformer hum as AJ points out. If you can hear it in the speaker and it's 60 hz, most likely ground loop.

Re: Audio Research

Lots of changes going which should be fun to experiment with to see what kind of performance you get with new equipment and cables. The Thunderbirds look amazing. It would be interesting to see if there is a difference between RCA vs XLR. It's nice to have both options and I can see why you would go...

Re: New CJ ART88 Preamp

I have gotten used to the click. Brought it up because I never had it with previous CJ preamps. As long as Jeff says its ok I have no further questions. Now enjoying every bit of it...... Exactly. It does not interfere with the music in any way and I view it as a "quirk" that is unique. A...

Re: Audio Research

Glad the 250's are performing well. Interesting to hear what you think of the Thunderbirds. As for the CJ cord becoming hot. That's interesting. A little heat shouldn't be an issue but surprised they didn't use a cord of higher gauge to prevent that sort of thing from happening. Most important is to...

Re: Count Basie Kansas City 6

The streaming via the Rose 150B. I think it was from Tidal, but it could have been Spotify. It was supposed to be 24/192. This could have been the source file, the Rose, the McIntosh, or just lousy set up of the Wilsons or the room. Most likely tidal as Spotify doesn't have 24/192 tracks. I'm not a...

Re: Count Basie Kansas City 6

I always see wilsons with coasters installed. I understand the utility of being able to move them easily when on wheels (especially due to the size and weight of most of the models), but I always feel like once you have them in their ideal spot, you should take those off and put proper spikes on the...

Re: Count Basie Kansas City 6

Had the opportunity to listen to this album the other night. It's very nice. The dynamics were top notch. I found that I had to turn up the volume a little higher than most listening as it was recorded at a generally lower level than most albums. Once I had the volume set properly, the sound was tak...

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

I’m assuming that owners of the Holo Audio MAY KTE would still recommend it heartily. I'm certainly biased, but yes. But I think the Holo Audio May is different than some of these other products as it is a complete stand alone DAC. Nothing more nothing less. The capabilities of something like the 1...

Re: Audiophile Fuses: Worthwhile or "Snake Oil" ?

Oh, I forgot it's $17k a piece. I always find it odd when they list monoblocks by price per amp, I mean, who buys just one? I haven't gotten caught in the "audiophile fuse" thing just yet. I may in the future but I have kind of parked it in the back for now, perhaps better to stay in ignor...
