Received it today the 22nd
Spearit packed the LARGE c-j carton into another; the whole thing arrived in perfect condition. After unpacking, I pulled the top and bottom covers to insure there were no loose parts inside and also to fotograf it. There are lots of pics at http://s89.photobucket.com/user/jeffreybehr/library/C-j%2...

Re: Quad ESL-2912 ...
RJ, apparently I've confused you. The 'next evolution of my system' is intended to be the combo of the c-j ET250S and the Sanders 10ds. The beginning of that is adding the '250 to the Avanti III-based system. I've ordered the '250.

ET250S hybrid poweramp
Ordered one Wednesday from Spearit--$4950 delivered for a new one. (Refurbs are $4250.) I had asked about the 7-days-for-cash-refund return privilege v. an amp that requires maybe 500 hours to break-in; the GM answered that he'll extend the return-for-cash-refund privilege to 30 days for the '250. ...

Re: Quad ESL-2912 ...
Gentlemen, the '989s didn't have too much treble energy with only the '11s, they were too bright with all amps I tried, which is why I sold them. RJ, thx for your observations on the 10ds v. 2912s. I've decided to start this next evolution of my system with a new c-j ET250S from Spearit. We'll see ...

Re: Quad ESL-2912 ...
I too have owned, used, and loved Quads. I started with one pair and then stacked '57s; they sounded excellent with woofers, but I didn't have the money then to buy a high-Q, low-enough-power poweramp, so this lover of large-scale, Romantic-period Classical music eventually replaced them with somet...

Re: Preamplifier Premier 16Ls2 schematics wanted
ghibli, schematics are on the way and I've asked c-j if the power transformer can be rewired for 230VAC. Now I have a request for you--could you shoot a couple good pics--well focused and at least, say, 3000 pixels wide--of the interior of the preamp, one from the front and one from the rear ? If y...

HUH?????????????? They would not or could not sell you capacitors?
Or are you looking for advice on which caps to replace with what? If so, contact Jeffrey Glowacki of Sonic Craft. cs@soniccraft.com

Re: Conrad-johnson, First Watt, and Serenity Acoustics
great speakers! I always loved B&G drivers and at some point I'll probably DIY speakers using bohlender graebener drivers. Neo3 implements nicely with ML electrostats. Jeffrey, you are always busy making great sounding gear perfect!!!! I agree about the B-G drivers; I installed Neo-3 PDRs in a ...

Re: Classic-Sixty : Multiple blown fuses
Is 'the fuse' a high-Voltage fuse under a largish--3/4"-diameter?--black cap perhaps on the top of the chassis or a regular-looking 120VAC fuse on the back of the amp?

Re: Dumb Question for the Day
Thanks. I was wondering if screwdrivers of this sort come with the amp? Mine is a demo from an authorized CJ dealer. No manual and no screwdriver were in the box. Thanks. I know this is a rather old post but I have a question. Would you mind tell whom you bought your amp from? Thanks, Harry My heav...

Re: Met 1 Upgrade
Thank you for the reply Jeff, it's highly appreciated! YW. For the sub channel, is there any downside to adding more than 1 4uf, i.e 2-or 3 of the original replaced caps, other than space limits? Not that I know of. This channel will probably only be used with the lowpass filter set to around 25Hz,...

Re: Met 1 Upgrade
Tore, replacing coupling caps in the MET1 will be a rewarding upgrade. C-j's combination of 4uF 'propylenes and 0.15uF 'styrenes always sounds good and not edgy, but better coupling and PS-bypass caps will increase transparency substantially. If I were doing mine again, I'd still use Sonic Craft 2u...

Re: Conrad Johnson PV-5 Preamp
Does anyone know the ohm load of the PV-5's phono section? Isn't it usually 100 ohms with most MM sections? I'm planning on installing my Benz Silver with .2mV output and 1 Kohm loading and I am considering a head amp (gave away my original). I am thinking about the Harmonious Audio Moving Coil Pho...

Re: Another hello from central New Jersey
Hey Jeff rey , nice looking work. Did you change values or just upgrade parts? TY. Just upgraded parts. Next time, I'd certainly use different parts and put some under the board to keep them away from hot tubes, but there'll never be a next time, because I HATE working on printed-circuit boards, es...

Dated? I was a part-time hi-end dealer in the '80s and I too sold them. :) Have had 3, 2 of which I substantially improved. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k220/jeffreybehr/C-j%20equipment/Topopenactive_1000w.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k220/jeffreybehr/C-j%20equipment/Boardbottom_1000w....
