Re: Crump...pwer cord
That single cord cost me $42 in materials. It's 16 gauge and I needed it to go from my PS Audio power base to the player sitting on top of it. PS Audio included a cheap 12" cord, but it was straining the sockets really bad. I bought extra materials to make another cord so I'll be doing that soo...

Re: Crump...pwer cord
Well in the attached pic is my very first attempt at a custom length power cable. Bought the Wattgate IEC & Techflex through Parts Express. Bought the standard 3 prong and bulk cable at Ace Hardware. Tip to tip it's 22 inches. Comments?

Re: ET3 and LP66S
The most notable difference between the two is the increased depth of the music. It just seems a bit more realistic. Not to say the base ET3 didn't do the same, but w/ the SE is takes it a step further. There's also a noticeable difference in vertical perception. When something sounds like it's abov...

Re: What have you been listening to?
This week I bought a Blu-ray audio disc of Supertramp's Breakfast in America. I've had this music in various forms since it came out in the 70's from vinyl to CD's. This Blu-ray audio only disc is sublime. I hate to sound like a writer from TAS, but it's dynamic, crisp n' clean, detailed, etc... Eve...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Thx Joe. The ET3SE has arrived. I put in a new 6922 from EH that I got from Upscale Audio. It's their Platinum rated gold pin one. Right now I'm running a CD signal through it w/o the amp on. Just a 24 hr burn in period before I have a listen. I took 2 pics of my base ET3 and the SE model. The pic o...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Coming soon: I've made arrangements today to buy a used ET3-SE. Now I will be able to compare the regular ET3 with the SE model. The one I'm buying was purchased new originally in Jan this year. It's my long term goal to send it to C-J eventually for a phono board. I've yet to select a turn table, b...

Axpona 2014 in Chicago
I attended said show on the 26th of Apr & had a blast again. I was happy to see C-J had proper representation this year. On display was an HD3, ET3, ET5, and the mighty LP125sa. And what a mighty amp that thing is. It's huge! Much bigger than my LP66. I spoke with the proprietor of Superior Audi...

Re: Classic vs. Classic-2
The Classic uses a pair of M8080 tubes. The Classic 2 uses a single 6922 tube. But other than that, they are very similar. Pat
Spearit Sound has the specs so you can open two windows and compare them side by side if ya like. Pat

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Just wanted to say that the Oppo 105 is just awesome. I'm so happy w/ it. If you have the means, get one. Thx to this player, I'm able to re-incorporate a center channel speaker. I hooked back up my Legacy Cinema HD & Marantz MA-700. This amp has it's own input level control on the back so getti...

Re: tubes for MV-60
Well according to the c-j web site, the MV-60 came w/ EL34's originally. I'm no authority, but the KT-120's may be drawing more power than the amp is rated for. I would switch back to EL34's before I used the amp again. That would be what I would do. I have a LP66S myself and I use Nordost Red Dawn ...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Yeah I was thinkin' about the Darbee edition for either the 103 or 105, I went w/ the reg version of the 105. From everything I read the 105 has the best audio and that's what I've wanted for a long time. Of course today I saw on AGon both a used 95 and 105 which I could have considered. But they we...

Re: Premier 11 Bias Led's all on
When something similar happened to me, c-j told me to put all the adjusters in the middle until I can replace the tubes. Those KT88 or 6550 tubes are easy to get ahold of. Music Direct out of Chicago sells Electroharmonix for $111 for 6550 matched pr and the KT88 for $117 matched pr. To me that's a ...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Attached below is a pic of the PSAudio powerbase under my SACD player. It's perfect for that player and is just the right dimensions. I tell ya, this thing is much heavier than it looks. I have no idea how long the break in period is, but since it just stays on all the time, I doubt it will take ver...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Well I got the dac back on Wed the 25th. I set it up on Thu and let it chew on a disc for a few hrs before I listened. Sounds good. Here's what their report says: Replaced 78 problematic caps. Resoldered the main power transformer. Updated software to v1.06. This allows you to hold the source button...

Re: What have you been watching?
Watched Star Trek Into Darkness. Great Sci-Fi flick. It's really good and creative. :D World War Z: That's a part of my life I'll never get back. I don't know who the bigger fool is, Brad Pitt for making it or me buying it. I suggest you wait for a neighbor to buy it and then still don't borrow it. ...
