Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

My thoughts exactly. As you mentioned, it can rip CD's, but now you need an external drive to be attached, and storage would need to be external as well. You can get those same functions in a streamer with something like a Bluesound Vault (which includes the CD drive and a 2 TB hard drive) for a qua...

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

I'm not surprised that it is not selling well. It's not that there is anything wrong with the 150B quality, but rather that it does so much that it doesn't fit into high end systems (which typically don't have video displays) and is too expensive for budget systems. I can see hesitancy of buying a v...

Re: Audiophile Fuses: Worthwhile or "Snake Oil" ?

Will it make a difference, who knows? But we are in the same discussion about how much we should skimp on accessories when the amp costs $17k?

As the famous quote goes here on CJO, "buy the best and cry once."

Re: Pioneer HLD-X9 Laserdisc Player

Yes, the color is champagne as well,... although slightly lighter shade than CJ gear. It really is beautiful and has the brushed finish (like CJ).

Fun stuff. It's amazing how many people you find with some discs here and there.

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

Maybe I'm being to harsh and admittedly I've never listened to the 150B. Just reading the specs and looking at the manufacturer's website it looks to be more of a "do it all" item. The internals don't look very impressive (but of course this could be misleading). No fancy ladder dac, huge ...

Pioneer HLD-X9 Laserdisc Player

So after many years of careful waiting, I was able to acquire a coveted laserdisc player to enhance my laserdisc hobby. I had recently acquired an additional 500+ discs from a local seller and was on usaudiomart just "window shopping" audio gear. I decided to see if they had any laserdisc ...

Re: Shipping - round two

Good to hear. I know it shouldn't matter where these units go but I sometimes have emotional attachments to some gear. This was especially true for my CJ Evolution 2000 amp. It went to a lovely gentlemen from Canada and he drove all the way down to pick it up. He was genuinely excited to get the amp...

Re: dCS Ring DAC and related digital gear

Hilarious sales pitch for the Rose 150B was emailed to me by a fellow who wanted to sell one to me today. “It's really highly adequate.” What a sales pitch,... sign me up! :) In all fairness, the 150B does a lot of "other stuff", so I think the budget on the unit had only minimal investme...

Good to know. Let us know how this ended up. It definitely would be good to have other options than fedex and UPS.

Re: How old were you when you first bought a CJ product?

Such is life. Our equipment come and go often like people in our life. I remember when I sold my Martin Logan Vantage speakers I had this feeling of letting go of something I truly loved. In the end, I didn't regret the decision because I enjoy my Magnepans greatly, but I still sometimes wish I coul...

Glad it worked out. It's a nice receiver and this is a common failure,... luckily a correctable one.

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

You've already got an "end game" system there Admin! That's definitely top notch- ET7S2 partnered with the ART monoblocks driving MG20's. What else is required? Wouldn't change a thing, unless you were absolutely desperate and had a truck load of cash! As always, RJ is right. No need to c...

Re: Audio Research

The setup looks amazing. I have to say that it would also look great as a central vertical stack. Especially with all those handles aliened from top to bottom. Yes, completely unnecessary and airflow is probably better like this, but it would look cool.

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

I can't imagine what CJ's top of the line amp and preamp partnered with the 20.7/30.7 could do, but I'm sure the results would be amazing. For me personally that would be an "end system."

Re: “New” Linn LP12 Klimax

I will say this though … that demo system is the first demo system that I’ve heard at a dealership in the last decade that could rival or improve upon my home vinyl setup. It was first rate and serious competition for the dCS Vivaldi stack being used as the other “front end.” The latest issue of st...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

The Maggie 3.7’s are really liking the jump in power from the Premier 12’s to the ART300 monos. They are really starting to sing now. Question: Have you considered upgrading the speakers to a Magnepan 20.7 or 30.7? The 3.7's are amazing speakers so not like it's a bad choice, I just see you really ...

I have found AFCI breakers to be a lot more "fidgety" than regular breakers. I don't see any problem replacing them as you know the source of what is causing the trip.

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!

Very exciting. Sounds like the system is being taken to the next level. It would definitely be interesting to see what the ART108's could do with the ART88.

Re: “New” Linn LP12 Klimax

I would have loved to listen to that system as well. If there is no practical budget limit, I can see the allure of buying something like that. But as AJ mentioned, it was "comparable" to his system which is a fraction of the cost.

Yes RJ, you are right on the spot. In terms of performance it bumped everything up an extra notch. Very happy with the upgrade!
