Re: Hello from Germany
What about the sound difference? The 6550 sounds pretty neutral and transparent. I think the KT120 is more so. More extended frequency range on both ends, generally tighter, more "punch". Personally, I would only use the 6550 if the rest of the system was too bright. Among the 6550's, my ...

Re: Hello from Germany
I wonder if the KT120 can be put into the amp with only adjusting the bias? Yes, you are right. It was the half of the twelves. You can just swap to KT120 and just need to rebias. I never use the cage, but the KT120's are taller than the 6550's and the cage will no longer fit unless you prop it up ...

Re: Hello from Germany
General preference seems to be KT120 for power tubes and is now C-J's preferred tube, though the Tung-Sol "reissue" 6550's get some kudos. I think the 11A is more half of a pair of twelves (140 watts each - like the two 70 watt channels bridged). The eights were even more powerful at 275 w...

Re: Hello from Germany
Hi Alex and welcome!
I have an 11A as well and like it very much. I saw yours on eBay (I assume it is the same one you bought). Looks to be in pristine condition. Mine has a bit of a chip in the lower right of the faceplate. Unfortunately, CJ doesn't have any Pr11 faceplates available.

Re: Help. Looking for a Tube amp
There's a Premier 11A on eBay right now. Bid up to $1580 with a day to go. I think that is the upper end of typical resale value, but it looks to be pristine. I have an 11A and love it (see my avatar). 70wpc, push-pull, 6550/KT120 based. If you want to go the single ended route, Dennis Had (of Cary ...

Re: my CJ system
I bought fuses at Drillspot.com for my LP125M's.

Don't know about buying from Europe though.
Here's the KTK-2:

Close, but no cigar!
Nice setup in any case. I have the Pr11A, so it was easy to recognize the 12's.

Yeah, those tubes I've nick named The Buck Rodgers Tube! Since there is interest, here is text from his last listing: The new TungSol KT-150 tube must have been engineered designed and manufactured for SE class A audio amplifier service. I have combined a 400% duty cycle power transformer, larger ou...

SOLD!! -- Conrad Johnson LP125M monoblocs - reduced! $4450
Audiogon Listing with more photos Conrad-Johnson LP125M monobloc tube amplifiers MSRP of $10,000 for the pair. Asking $4450 - price lowered several times in this slow audio market! Original owner. They are technically under warranty, but I don’t think it is transferable. The blank warranty card is ...

Re: S.E.T. Vs CJ Amp
Can't say for sure. People do swear by them though they also have a reputation for being more particular about system setup. Need for higher efficiency speakers the biggest requirement. I have on order a Single Ended amp designed by Dennis Had of Cary fame. He is using a pair of KT150's power tubes ...

Re: Cost of MF2300 upgrade to MF2300A?
I remember hearing $800 at one point, though I'm not positive. If more than about $500, you might do better buying an 11A off audiogon or ebay and selling yours. I have an 11A, but not sure I'm selling it yet. They seem to go for about $1500 or more now. I can't imagine the 11 would get less than $1...

Re: Premier 11 Bias Led's all on
If all the LEDs came on at the same time, it seems it would be unusual to be all the tubes. When I first received my demo LP125M's, one LED was on even when I switched tubes. It turned out to be a problem with one of the pin springs in the socket. I'm not saying that's what it is here, that would be...

I did some research on 6922's. We are talking $150+ per tube for most of the NOS makes.
I probably screened them out to protect my wallet when shopping a while back!

Did Mullard may 6922's or is it a different variety? I've never seen Mullard 6922 and have settled on Gold Lions.

Re: CJ GAT and ART monos are simply stunning ....
Congratulations Joe! It's what we all strive for. My system now allows me to know what that means. It was always a little abstract until I experienced the music lift from the speakers. I still have that little bit missing, but it feels less so as I settle into the music with this system. I've spent ...
