Re: NEW Conrad Johnson ART27A Triode Tube Amp

RJ, Roberto, Depending how soon life can get back to normal here (NY for me), I hope to be able to get one. RJ, It’s funny you mention the Kondo overture integrated. My friend who also owns Avantgarde Duo has one and every time he goes back to it, he’s in heaven. I honestly feel the ART27A can compe...

Re: My Humble Apology to CJ; I just did not know

Welcome back!!! Speaker and amp matching is paramount! My original GAT and ART monos on my Revel Studio2 was the most glorious combo that I’ve ever had/heard. I made many changes along the way but never reached that level of satisfaction again. Live and learn. I have some gear now that I love, the G...

Re: Newbie

The CA200 is a special piece. I absolutely loved it more than the Premier 350. Only small issue was a turn on thump. Sound was awesome. I still miss the one I had and would love CJ to make a reissue version.

Re: NEW Conrad Johnson ART27A Triode Tube Amp

RJ, I'm thinking about the ART27A for this summer. At a minimum, the CAV45-S2 would be a great candidate too. The ART27a is 36wpc, not a lot but I think more than enough for me. I'm afraid the ART150/300 would be too "neutral" for my taste. I say that based on previous owners and those 've...

Welcome to the forum Bill.

Wow! That’s a very long time to own audio gear. I totally commend you for being able to hold steady. Congratulations!

Just curious what speakers are you using?

Re: Which CJ AMP for B&W 802 SERIES 2?

B&W speakers can be difficult to drive. Some dip down to 1-1.5 ohms. You’ll probably need enough reserve power to overcome that low an ohm rating. I would look for something over 100wpc. Hopefully others can give specific recommendations.

Re: GAT2 tubes experience?

Thanks again. I’ll look at mine this weekend and report back what’s inside. I ended up replacing my 6922 tubes in my original GAT with 6H23 type 3 (?) tubes and they were awesome.

Re: GAT2 tubes experience?

Hi Bill,

Thank you very much. I thought the GAT2 used 7DJ8 tubes, not the 6922 variety because the original GAT was hard on tubes I thought they went to higher voltage 7 series.

Aren’t the ECC88 essentially the same as 6922?

Re: Tube rolling

CJ will even sell you tubes. I bought some tubes direct from CJ years ago for my original GAT1. They were Electro-Harmonix 6922. Sounded great and lasted a long time.

Re: Tube rolling

As long as they are 12AU7/ECC82 or equivalent, it’ll sound great. I’ve used Gold Lion 6922 in my original GAT series 1 without issue.
