Re: subwoofer

I could definitely be wrong on this but there are no CJ amplifiers, integrateds, etc that have speakon connectors. CJ uses standard 5 way binding posts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speakon_connector https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/Connectors_of_a_QSC_PLX2402_professional_...

Re: Vacation Picture - show us where have you been

It's true. We had our Gilded Age during the final quarter of the 19th Century when the ultra-rich of the time built the American equivalent of castles and mansions along the Hudson Valley, Providence/Newport RI and in California but at this point they're primarily museums. No one lives there anymore...

Re: Vacation Picture - show us where have you been

Not to denigrate our efforts here, and maybe because they've had centuries longer to get it just right, but the Europeans seem to have a special knack when it comes to combining the elements of plants, geometry and the lay of the land. Another culture with an entirely different aesthetic but equally...

Re: ET3 On The Way...

I looked on the Internet to see a measurement that maps the numeric value of the front panel to the actual gain of the preamp. I assume it's a logarithm factor, not linear... but let's just assume it's being run at unity gain... What will the power be at the output of the amp with a full 2V line si...

Re: Oh! For the love of tubes!

Well said, RJ. I've only heard one of the brands you mentioned and it was at the NY Audio years ago. CH Precision driving Zellaton speakers. It was one of my favorites at the show. But we're talking big bucks.

Re: Right fuses for MF2300? Frustrated with CJ lack of help

Fuses tend be either small (5x20mm) or large (6.3x32mm). I used the word "tend" because the large fuses in my Premier 140 amp were 38mm and not 32mm in length. So admin's advice is your best bet: if it's a large fuse then measure it. The manual (and the markings on the fuse end caps) will ...

Re: Oh! For the love of tubes!

Upscale's web site does seem to indicate they ship internationally. Maybe it's for equipment but not tubes? Or, maybe the information is out of date but this is what it says: Shipping Charges, Customs & Duty on Foreign Orders International shipping rates are determined by weight, box size, desti...

Re: Oh! For the love of tubes!

Their KT120s are only available to customers who purchased PrimaLuna amps from them. From their web site: "We are restricting sales of these tubes to customers who have purchased PrimaLuna amplifiers from Upscale Audio at this time. Sorry, no exceptions. Your email address will be matched to pu...

Re: ART Phono Preamp

CJ/Jeff continues to concentrate on the high-end. Not as stratospheric as some other companies but definitely not for anyone interested trying out tubed equipment. That would make sense for what are essentially bespoke products. I'm assuming the six tubes are split between three for phono 1 and thre...

Re: Oh! For the love of tubes!

I'm not sure if RJ meant USD 2800 or AUD 2800 which would be almost USD 1800. But even if the latter, that's frickin' outrageous. EDIT: I just checked and Kevin at Upscale although he is limiting sales to Primaluna customers has them at USD $100 each. Tube Depot, other than a 10 tube limit per order...

Re: Is CJ still in business?

I know this is off-topic kinda. But I just checked and at the Amundsen-Scott base it's currently -70.6°F (-50°C). And when you factor in the wind chill which of course we must it's -109.8°F (-78.8°C)! It is Winter there, after all.

Re: Two Possibilities

This one is very relaxing, and it’s been nearly a year since I recommended it here. https://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/vie ... Paz#p19542 Tonight I streamed it from Qobuz. The CD finally arrived today and I'm listening to it now. Only halfway through and I can tell this is going to get regular pla...

I mistakenly posted my response to your linked review.

Anyway...your recommendation looks very worthwhile, thank you. Just ordered a used copy from Amazon. There one remaining new copy of the CD was being offered at $84.

It looks like a recommendation very worthwhile repeating. Thanks. PS: Just went to Amazon to order it. Their one remaining new copy of the CD was being offered at $84. I ordered instead a "very good" used copy which was $15.80 including sales tax and shipping. That's much more like...

Re: Two Possibilities

You're quite welcome. Although I do have some jazz recordings they tend to be old school like Chet Baker, Herbie Mann, Boney James, Marion Meadows, etc. When I first listened to the Blue Maqams album I thought this sounds more like traditional jazz from my limited perspective of the genre. So I appr...

A couple of days ago I purchased another of his albums, Blue Maqams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Maqams , that I've also seen repeatedly listed on the PS Audio "What Are You Spinning" thread. Although in a similar vein to Astounding Eyes It is different. One way it differs is that Br...

Re: Two Possibilities

I'm glad you like it, Roberto. I find myself playing it a couple of times a week and so far still find it worth the listen. To me it doesn't neatly fall into one particular genre although maybe jazz or world music approach as good a classification as any. The North African vibe comes through at time...
