Re: Help and Embarrassment or Riches to Rags in seconds

Sorry to hear about this event jahatl513. I agree with roberto, that is probably what happened when it was unplugged and replugged. I think this is one of those hard lessons we all eventually learn about having everything off when we are working on (or near) our systems. Hopefully, it won't be too e...

Re: Classic 60se Speaker recommendations

As a long time user of Martin Logan speakers I 2nd roberto's recommendation. Their hybrid design really gives a nice balanced low end for those craving the detail of planar speakers but not wanting to sacrifice lower frequencies.

That would most likely be in the manual (and not the schematic). All conrad johnson manuals can be downloaded directly from their website.

Hi robin hood,
Welcome to the site. I have an evolution 2000 myself. Are you looking for a conrad johnson replacement? Are you looking for something with less power or simply size,... or both?

Re: MF2500 throwing 68 DCvolt out on right channel

Hi runner70. I also have a 2000 Evolution amp and love it. I, unfortunately, do not know its design history in detail. I too would be interested in the sound comparison of this now "older" amp vs something designed more recently. As for mods, one simple cheap mod that can be done and which my unit h...

Re: PV11 trouble shooting

Hi Joel, Sorry to hear about your trouble. I presume you downloaded the schematic on our database at: http://www.conradjohnsonowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=128 Probably the easiest way to answer your question is to just open up the PV11 and do a visual inspection (don't forget to look on both side...

I think you may have posted this in the wrong section as this is more for selling/buying. Anyway,... I don't own a premier one so I can't be specific but a little google search came up with some pictures of the premier one's internals. Do the transformers look like the ones in the pictures: http://w...

Re: MF2500 throwing 68 DCvolt out on right channel

Unfortunately, we do not have the MF2500 schematic in our database. If you have access to the unit you can try to take measurements backwards along the signal path and try to identify at what component the signals deviate from each other. However, you would have to be very careful and kind of know w...

Re: CJ Amp Recommendations -Sold my Premier 140 w/ CJD Teflon; have (3) CJ Pre's PV12 w/ phono, P17LS, P16LS2

I agree, the more power the better. I do think that with many (if not most) speakers you don't have to go "crazy". Quality power trumps Quantity in most cases. There are cases where you do need a lot of power but that is usually restricted to playing music at high volume on inefficient speakers. I w...

Re: CJ Amp Recommendations -Sold my Premier 140 w/ CJD Teflon; have (3) CJ Pre's PV12 w/ phono, P17LS, P16LS2

I can't speak to all of those, but I do own the PV12 and I use a CJ Evolution 2000 amp. I need a lot of power because I have very inefficient speakers. I can compare the PV12 to the PF2 and can say that the PV12 is definitely a big upgrade. If memory serves, the Klipsch Forte is a very sensitive spe...

Great system. Very cool stuff... I'm sure you know what my favorite pieces are! Those monoblocks are just amazing. How are the acoustics of the environment? Looks like a difficult room to set up correctly with the large glass window and tight space. Do you use any acoustic treatments or find the roo...

Re: Cables for my MF2550

If you are looking for "budget" cables I have had very good experience with Signal Cable and Blue Jeans interconnects.

In the DIY section of this forum, I've posted about making my own interconnects which use the Blue Jeans cable with some locking RCA plugs.

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King!!

Indeed iconic and instantly recognizable. Enjoy the Evolution. Fantastic amp.

Mary Christmas.
It seems like King Crimson is not on any of the music streaming services. One of the last holdouts.... kind of a shame. Great music.

Re: Repairs and/or modifications to C-J products

My two cents is that if you want to have the flexibility to change power cords, then an IEC plug placement is probably one of the easiest DIY projects. The hardest part is cutting the case for the plug but the plug border typically overlaps a little so if the cut is not perfect you will still be fin...
