Re: Year End Conrad Johnson Clearance Sale (Authorized Dealer)

Steve,

I'm looking for a used CJ phono preamp and the HD3 DAC. Have a Lehmann Black Cube phono preamp and Ayre QB-9DSD DAC available for trade. Thanks. Eric

Re: C-J HD3: replacement of USB DAC module with more modern HRT model

There are also some capacitors missing from the left and right channels of the analog output booster/buffer. They are labeled C13, C14, C19, and C20. Again, I wonder why they were deleted from the final product?

Re: C-J HD3: replacement of USB DAC module with more modern HRT model

Something else that I noticed: where the thicker blue cables leave the "hrt streamer" and enter the L-in L+in and R-in R+in of the analog output booster/buffer, there is also a small green wire that exits the "hrt streamer" and is soldered onto an unmarked connection between the L-in L+in connection...

Trade: Conrad Johnson HD3 for Ayre QB-9 DSD?

I have the latest model Ayre QB-9 DSD DAC (although the QB-9 was recently discontinued) that I would like to do a 1:1 trade for a Conrad Johnson HD3 DAC. Any takers?

Re: CAV50 triode connection

I never implemented the switch although I still think it would be a good idea. Instead, I actually used it as an epl loop and set it up as a stereo to mono converter using this: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/monacor-smc1-stereo-mono-converter/432335-01/ I went this route rather than using y-cables ...

Re: Announcing the conrad-johnson CA-45 control amplifie

I wonder how different it sounds than the CAV-50. Same power rating. Two less tubes (no 6sn7's) and missing the two big upright can capacitors used in the CAV-50. In other words, a different circuit.

Re: CAV50 triode connection

I've been thinking about a pretty cool mod--repurposing the epl button (which I do not use) into a switch so that I can convert from triode to ultra linear on the fly. Well, not exactly on the fly, because I would power off the unit before doing the switch--I don't think it would be a good idea to s...

Very happy with it so far. The Oppo and the UDP-1 are in different systems so a side by side comparison won't be possible.

Re: WTB: CJ MET1, MET150

Yes, I missed out on the closeout Spearit Sound ran a few years ago. I was talking to them about putting together a deal but it didn't happen, and then--BAM--all of their stock sold out in a hurry!

Re: C-J HD3: replacement of USB DAC module with more modern HRT model

Based on the complexity of the circuit, I don't think it is a buffer stage, or at least, only a buffer stage. It probably is the entire analog output stage of the DAC. I actually corresponded with Kevin Halverson who, while not confirming that that the USB module is an OEM version of a HRT streamer,...

Re: BOUGHT ONE--MET150 5-channel poweramp

I am a little confused by your thread title. Did you buy one and now are looking to sell it, or did you buy one and now want to buy another?

Is this a "for sale" thread or a "want to buy" thread?

I am a lawyer. CJ is just as expensive to lawyers as to "the little guy," whatever exactly that means. Dollars are dollars. CJ ain't cheap, no matter who is buying.
