Re: Ordered a GAT2 today.

The ART 300s definitely surpass the ART Monos, Improved Bass depth and tightness was immediately noticeable. In addition, there is an increased focus. Instrument/artist location within the sound stage is considerably more precise. I was recently asked if the increased focus somehow detracted from th...

Re: Ordered a GAT2 today.

Congratulations on your new purchase! My own GAT2 has become part of the family along now with the ARTs. Another benefit for me at least with the CJ gear is that it's ended my continual gear-hoping. Other than a few system tweaks here and there now and then, I simply enjoy the music more than I ever...

Re: Any one thinking about a GAT Series 2 preamp?

I had an ET5 and loved it! I had an opportunity to get a GAT (V1) a few years back..and now it's been updated to GAT V2.
The bad news is that I'll never, ever part with the GAT.

I can't imagine anyone enjoying an ET5 won't love moving up to the GAT.

Re: ART 150/300 Anniversary Amplifiers

I'd heard all kinds of reports on KT-150s in general. Like most things in this crazy hobby, the KT150 was either the greatest valve every made or pure crap.. and everything in between depending on who you asked. In speaking with Jeff at CJ prior, I'd made it clear to him that I liked the ART Monos a...

Re: ART 150/300 Anniversary Amplifiers

Incredible!! Still breaking in? Yea, only 100 hours or so... although they run them in at CJ for 40 or so hours so all in all they have upwards of 150. They are not quite as pretty as the ART Monos to look at, but they surely are an improvement sound-wise. I really enjoyed the ART Monos but these t...

Re: Matching CJ tube amp for ls17 pre

In my own case...using a CJ ET3 ET5 and GAT...they all seem to have a higher output than a "typical" preamp... meaning that when I drove JC-1s with the GAT, the volume control for typical listening was in the 20-40 range...with 40 being fairly loud. Using CJ Power amp(s) which appear to me...

Re: Greetings from Sydney Australia

Welcome!

I've not tried a 350 with a GAT, but I know the 350 has a wonderful reputation and following...and I'll bet the GAT/350 combo will be wonderful!
Looking forward to your own comments on the combo!

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

I must admit I gave CJ quite an earful relating to what I personally perceived as a sense that they really don't care anymore.
I also made it clear that this sense of mine isn't something from recent weeks and that it's been building for a couple years.

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

Update.... ART received back last Friday, all good! In the end all worked out although I was worried a bit. Jeff and Melissa thanks! These are the best sounding amps I've ever heard! IMHO Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here. Thankfully I'm reasonably close to CJ, as shipping these things to ...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

If you can get a person named Jeff on the phone, he's been helpful to me in the recent issue with my ART. He even called me right back late in the day when the amp had failed, he called yesterday to inform me that it's fixed. He went on to say that I'd receive a call or email today confirming shipme...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

HI Ray Yes, a stiff drink could help! I hope this is not an indication of things (smelly and burning) to come. Only trouble is I am in South Africa. No agent here, so I am liable for shipping back to US if CJ and a local tech cannot diagnose the problem, To courier to US from here about $2000 with ...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

Might wanna see if you can pickup a tube tester. With the amount spent on the gear, a tester is relatively inexpensive and will generally let you know exactly what condition your tubes are in...including remaining life span. Not to mention it can let you "match" your own sets if need be. ...

Re: KT-150 a drop in replacement for KT-120's?

Here are some spec sheets on the KT120 and KT150. Heater current is marginally higher for the KT150 but I wont pretend that I understand much of what any differences mean in a practical sense. Although I'm sure some of you do, so here they are: http://www.hebertech.com/datasheet/tung-sol/kt120.html...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

The returned ART should arrive at CJ today (Friday) and of course CJ is closed on Fridays I believe. I truly admire the company overall, managing to stay in business all these years is a clear indication of their business sense...on the other hand I still find myself not being all that warm and fuzz...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

This is karma at it's finest, I make a comment about Murphy's law yesterday...and today, while listening in "Stereo" the system went to Mono. Glancing down at the left channel ART..one of the output tubes was glowing nearly cherry red. Replaced with spare, checked fuse, same issue. Replace...

Re: CJ ART sa / 8 or 4 ohm

Low distorted sound, replaced driver tubes but no difference. Tubes ok. No blown plate fuses. Waiting impatiently for response from CJ as to what to do. I ...

I agree, I cannot for the life of my come up with the name of the case that I wanted. But it came with a remote, and they have since discontinued the particular model. There was a build up using it on a HT forum that I was going to basically copy. As for audiophile usb, yeah, Im not buying it....li...

Re: New Interconnects....couldn't help myself...

I WISH i could find a deal somewhere! :) the DH Labs cable is $11/foot.... which helps then the killer cost on those Blue WBTs which are $70 each! I get the connectors from Parts Express, The DH Labs ProStudio cable is available from various sources as is the braid/shrink tubing etc. All told though...
