Re: Over one year with my Classic One Twenty SE

Hola RJ, welcome back!. I am going to confess to you something. When I bought my first Martin Logan set, was the CLS, then had all the models, and they were driven by CJ. Then, I had to let go my Conrad Johnson gear, and start using other brands like Mark Levinson, Byrston, Classe, Cary Audio, Carve...

Re: Tube Experiences with specifically ET7 and possibly ET5 pre's

It looks that I am going to be the first one to say about it. Well, I do believe there are differences in the overall sound. As an example, I have three different brands and are equivalent replacement for the original, the 6922. I have the E88CC, the PCC88 and the 6922. I bought two plus the one tha...

Hola Tim, ! You can't go wrong with the Classic One twenty. If you like the EL-34 tube, then you do know that are you going to get, but much better. Re: My New Classic 120SE

Hola. You said it! You can´t go wrong with this superb amp. New quality parts is the clue. The philosophy of the design is almost the same...there are new paths in the signal process (smaller). I do like a lot what I am listening. And also, it looks that I am not the only one that its reporting the ...

Re: My New Classic 120SE

Hola Timo62, I did, and the sound is fantastic too. The 6CA7/EL34 is a very warm sound. If you like this type of warmth, it is the right amp for you. I chose the KT-120s because their midrange, to my ears, are crystal clear and having the right harmonic texture. I do believe it is a matter of liking...

Re: CJ PV-12 - ringing probelm solved

Hola. I am going to chime something here. The tube dampers that are made for basically signal tubes, like the 12AUT7s, and make to stop some noise. This small tubes are microphonic. These rubber rings or high temperature silicone made rings, prevent to build up this microphonic possibility into the ...

Re: ET-7 follow up.

Bear, I do believe that you are ahead on me. You have also very good electronics, and also, I do know the quality of the components that you have the access to, and the time that you had been doing comparisons with super good quality products. In other words, I do respect your hearing and listening ...

Re: ET-7 follow up.

Yes, horn speakers are very good with dynamics, but my ears are more into the harmonic texture and timbre. Horn speakers sound to me like that..horn sound. Please do not get me wrong here. As you state with your liking, this is mine. Liking is like food. Some of us like garlic, other hate it!. We ar...

Re: ET-7 follow up.

Thank you Joe. I forgot to mention that I have a Philips ECC-88 tube replacing the 6922 that came with the preamp. This tube is a super low noise...you can tell the difference in nuances of the music. The micro dynamics is where it acts. I feel much better resolution and more control at the bass...a...

Re: ET-7 follow up.

Hola amigos, I must tell you what it is happening with my sound system. It is improving even more. Now it is the clarity and transparency sound. Last night I was listening to Jacintha Abisheganaden. Her voice is so sweet and free of nasal sound. It is projected in my room, with a life-real-like soun...

Re: KT120s and Biasing in Premier 11A

Hola Peru!... On the other hand, we have separate bias for each tube. There is no need to be quads matched. That's what's bugs me. All tubes with the same problem? It looks to me that the bias resistors are not doing the job. They are out of the adjusting range, perhaps. If I were you, I will ask to...

Re: KT120s and Biasing in Premier 11A

Hola TubesnQuads, Never turn the bias all the way to the right! Never do that. If you can not adjust the bias, it is because in some circuits you are able to change the KT-120s direct with the 6550s. If you can not adjust the bias, you should contact Jeff Fischel at Conrad Johnson, and tell him your...

Hola again Jonathan,
Please tell us your findings with your new toys...they are that good, right?

Once the capacitors are settle down, the right sweetness of the musical instruments will start to arise.

Re: New ET-7, and my name is not Roberto

Thanks Jonathan, Our journey for seeking the truth is a very thin and narrow path. Also our liking matters. When you have on your ears these quality products, we definitively are in the same boat!. There are the top first class, and with these babies we are hitting almost it, too costing the half. Y...

Re: New ET-7, and my name is not Roberto

Hola Johnathan, You will love them for sure, as I do. Please, you must take your time to let saddle the capacitors. Between the first 200 hours, you will notice changes, but not too dramatic, but from that time to 400 hours, you will notice a continue improvement of the sound stage, the size of the ...

Hola. I made a mistake with names. I just corrected them. Please excuse my confusion.

Again, I want to thank 2bdude for the insite of the difference between the Gat2 and the ET-7. Again, wisdom of words!
Thanks 2bdude, and sorry for the big mistake!
Regards from Costa Rica,
Roberto.
